Inverted apps - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Themes and Apps

Hey guys, I am a big fan of inverted apps and found this project
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183408
I am going to give it a try, but I was wondering if anyone else has tried it before, or anyone was interested. Our amoled screen is capable of saving a lot of energy with black pixels, you know..

only it's TFT, not amoled, so while inverted apps might happen to look nicer, the battery saving will not occur at all

Oh man I was so sure it was amoled.. What a bummer.. Still easier on the eyes, though..

Request for a picture from someone who does not have backlight bleed

Okay, I know we have lots of threads with people posting pictures of their bleed screen. I want to request one member atleast who does NOT have bleed to post a picture of his screen here. I personally am getting a second G2x and since this is like my first phone in over 5 years, I'd like to have a picture ready for comparison when I get my replacement.
You could use this as a test page.
http://i.imgur.com/c4rkX.png
Alternatively, telekNesis has made a wonderful app for this exact purpose. Use that.
http://teleknesis.net/Android/APKs/ScreenBleedTest.apk
I've attached 2 images of my screen. One from far away, and one in close up. The camera brightness gets wonky when its far away, so a closeup is most recommended, and I'd like to compare this.
I would but my phone is the only camera I have at work
can post one in a couple hours
EDIT: See new pic

Thanks for the picture. But:
1. You are not in a dark room
2. your status bar is there.
We can't do an accurate comparison like that

Thanks for trying to help Maris_

Maris_ said:
I used SketchBook Pro and painted the screen black, set it as my wallpaper, used LauncherPro to hide the Navigation Bar, then took a screenshot in a dark room. As far as I can tell, I don't have any unusual backlight bleed. True, it isn't the deep black my Nexus One would have had, but considering this phone is backlit, I think I'm OK. android battery bar

ok, a few years back, my windows phone had this really cool app, it was a bar across the top that was 1 or 2 pixels tall, multi colored that displayed the amount of battery left. someone told me it was in a rom, but I can't find it to save my life. maybe one of you has seen it or knows which mod, or anything about it, because I would LOVE to have that stupid little bar back.
Thanks
Pat.

sorry if im mistaken, i dont think this feature is on cyanogen mod. It is however on most of the 'MIUI' roms, i think it is standard on there.
Is this possible to have standalone? This would complete my device.

damn, wish it was standalone.. I'm pretty loyal to my current rom, at least until I get the new samsung infuse or whatever it's called.

[Q] What is MDNIE?

What is MDNIE and how do I turn it on?
I have seanzscreams ICS installed and loving it, but was wondering what this is and if there's any advantage in using it.

Hi,
I have the same question and from my research it is some sort of display tweaking same as the Bravia Engine, only using this, you have a lot more options. Although in reality, I can't really find anything changing when i modify the settings...
mDNIe stands for mobile Digital Natural Image engine.
In stock galaxy S2 rom (at least my i9100 international), under Settings ->Display -> Screen mode, it shows a sample image and three preset profiles - Dynamic, Standard, and Movie. These adjust the brightness, sharpness, contrast on different screens/ in apps like camera.
Custom roms can always have custom settings for these display-related parameters of a phone.
I am not android developer, so I cannot tell you how to turn it on, but I think stock rom has mDNIe enabled by default.
How do you access the MDNIE options?
to access mDNIe options in my samsung galaxy s2
go to Settings ->Display -> Screen mode
i727 doesn't get this option I think, haven't ever seen it.

None of the crappy AT&T variants have this.
On the Skyrocket, just find "mDNIe Switcher" and install it. It comes with Seanzscreams Sky Ice rom. Not sure where to get just the .apk
It's available in CyanogenMod 10 and 10.1. I was tinkering with this today.

mDNIe is a display tweaking utility that is only useful if you had an AMOLED (LED) powered screen. Its useless for an LCD screen.

I didn't post wrong info... I just stated a fact. I know sgs 2 has an amoled screen... People asked what it is and i answered. mDNIe rebalances the chemicals in LED lights to change contrast, sharpness, blur effect. UI makes things sharper but might impact quality by missing MSAA (Multi Sampling Anti Aliasing) which now, in latest cm 10.1 you can turn on to avoid "pixelated curves" in letters and such. VT is more rich and contrast.. I think that one is from VoodooColor.
Camera i think makes the color level warmer. Every phone has different mDNIe modes. So just experiment.

Twitter Cropped from top

Hi,
I am using SLIM ROM 4.2.1 Stable 1.0 , Nexus S
I am getting this odd behavior of Twitter App, whenever i click on New Tweet or when i reply to any Tweet.
Seems, either its cropped from Top or it is not recognizing Status Bar.
Interestingly, 4 Icon of New Tweet, doesn't show, and gets hidden under Keyboard.
It started since i installed SLIM ROM 4.2.1 RC2.
Are you using the navigation bar? I was trying out a launcher that would do that only when the navigation bar was present.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk 2
No, i am not using Navigation bar.. what i feel , the New Tweet PopOut window is either not recognizing the status bar, OR some issue.
I tried to re-install the Twitter App too and Full Flash SLIM ROM today itself.

And slim has a newer version, so get that and use ur phones proper DPI.
I hope that helps

I am using 240 as my DPI. which is standard for these phones. you gave me interesting point out here.. let me try to change DPI and test all this.
P.S. : I am already on latest version of SLIM ROM
I tried different DPI too, still cropped from top. it seems, New Tweet window is not adjusting itself , when keyboard popped out as well.

Hi again,
Did this happen in other ROMs too?
My Twitter is good...I'm using a dark version from here:

So try it, just download and install.
But overall mine does it also when it goes to tweet screen...so its not uncommon.

OK, what you are seeing is normal. On some apps and screens, its a notification that you cannot swipe further. I think apple called it some sort of rubber band and android had it switch to a different way of this notification due to patent issues.

Well, the white effect from the top and bottom in most apps, and the blue effect on the sides in the Gallery are a design feature of Android. Just like how iOS has its bounce back effect, Android has this 'holo' thing going for it.

That's because the HTC One S and One run the HTC Sense skin, and don't even run a stock Google OS.
I came from the One S myself... radio broke badly after a failed Maxiums 10 install.
The "glow" is new, kinda weirded me out at first but I've got used to it.

Looks like whatever rom you are running has the old xhdpi calculator from ics/jb judging by the grey bars on the side of the screen. So you have both ICS blue holo and the new white kit kat over scroll glow at the same time. #blametheromdev
