[Q]Can make only one call after reboot. - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello I have a strange problem on my nexus s.
When I make a call all work fine but when I make a new call the microphone and the speaker didn't working.
And then when I reboot the phone all fix and after a one call all back.
I try to do full wipe and install CM rom and still the problem is here.
Maybe someone can help me with that?
Thanks!

I have the same problem. Did you fix that? I used CM10.2, CM11, and 4.4 AOSP not official rom. But nothing helps.

Try booting into safe mode and see if what happens.

It is a OS issue since the mic is working fine in Skype or other similar apps.
Google couldn't find a solution for it yet... https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/2eVRjUXPS-A

In my case Nexus S (from AT&T - 9020A) KitKat (4.1.2) I had to overwrite radio driver with Radio KD1 version
I have tried multiple versions from here:

[Q] Problems with touchscreen do I have to send it in

I made a youtube video of my problem here:
youtube.com/watch?v=LL_kubZ4ENc
Have anybody else had this issue with their touchscreen? I have tried to factory reset the phone. Go back to stock rom lock the bootloader, and unroot. But the problem still appear. Also tried to clean the screen and only charge it with the original charger. Nothing helps I have tried to send questions to samsung but no answers.
Have anyone here had similar issues and found a fix?

I have this problem also, im on CM7 nightly. cant unlock the screen. Phones barely 3 days old
Had that same problem, and it's gone now. Don't know what did fix it, but I flashed new radio and Trinity kernel, and the problem is gone now...
I thought with the 2.3.5 the problem was solved, but its back now... dunno what it is, my phone is 2 weeks old.
I'm experiencing the same issue on a stock, not rooted or in any way modified Nexus S I9023 (SCLCD version) with Android 2.3.6
Also the settings button is right under the line (so the location is different from the video) and it is unresponsive as well.
Does anybody have any idea what to do about this???

Dont know if this will help but this is a common problem with htc's. There are 2 pins in the usb port that get shorted out with gunk, rust, or whatever. I use a pick, some contact cleaner and some fine cloth to clean the pins. I also use compressed air to blow it out. This has happened to a ton of my friends evo's and both of my inspires. Its annoying as hell I know. Hope this helps, good luck

Thanks for the answer but unfortunately it doesn't fix the problem
I also have this same issue... Works fine no problems on stock unrooted. But once I root I get this same problem.. I have had this same issue in the past but never only on a rooted phone.. I have also been on a rooted ROM for a long time and this issue popped up last week.. Now I am stuck with stock until I can figure this out.

UPDATE: I have the stock ROM but rooted and it works well, however if i install another ROM the problem starts again, I install cyanogenmod and found out what is causing the problem, the car dock mode is automatically turning on, also the car dock apk from other ROMS are newer than the car dock apk from the stock ROM
I was able to disable Cardock in Virtuous Unity but still got the speaker phone issue... I guess HTC fixed this issue in the newest Inspire Rom because of all the phones returned because of it, but those fixes haven't been implemented in community roms.. That's the only explanation I can come up with.
UPDATE: I installed the stock ROM rooted and was working well, but when i changed the kernel the problem was back.

Glad you were able to find the issue. I would let the kernel Dev know about it.

Here is a kernel for CM7 removing dock accessory detection based on the latest CM7 kernel. If someone wants to build a version for Sense or based on another kernel, just unselect config_usb_accessory_detect and config_dock_accessory_detect support under USB Support > USB Gadget Support > Dock Accessory Detect in the kernel config before building.

Nexus S with broken (?) 3G/GSM

Hi,
I'm having trouble with my Nexus S, and it might have started after installing Jelly Bean (though probably not). The phone is somtimes unable to connect to 3G, and sometimes unable to call/receive calls. More often not working than working, both of them. I tried factory resetting and I also tried my SIM card in another phone (and another SIM card in my phone), with the same result. Something must be wrong with my phone, the only question is if it is a software error or hardware error.
Anyone have any tips? Perhaps how to check if the radio hardware is working (some app perhaps?)? Any ideas on what else I might try? The phone has been working perfectly for more than a year, so it's really odd it suddenly has problems. Anyone had similar problems?
Thanks in advance!
1. Are your NS is rooted...??
2. did you try another JB Custom Rom..???
or
3. is it still working good when you downgrade to ICS or other ICS Custom ROM...???
Then, if thats way still have same result, its might be hardware problem.

I rooted it yesterday to be able to try custom roms (tried Cyanogenmod 9). Same problem. I then returned it to stock, which made it reflash everything, and still the same problem. I'm starting to believe it's a hardware error. Are there any diagnostic tools available to check the radio module?
Thanks for answering!

Well, just try a radio that's for your model, search for nexus s radios in xda you should be able to find a thread which has all The radios, and choose appropriately.

Maybe you have to get the correct access point name from your provider. If I do a clean flash I have to input it by hand as otherwise I cannot connect as well.

That may explain the data connection but not the calls.

Thanks everyone for all tips, help and suggestions! I ended up replacing my Nexus S (a... questionable reseller bought it for $120, maybe to use for spare parts for other phones becuase I told him about the problems I was having) with a used Galaxy Nexus. Must have been a hardware error.
Sorry for the late reply/checkback!

GSM stops working on Condemned CM 7.2

Hi, everyone. I'm using this ROM on HTC Incredible 2 (rooted and s-off):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1435312
It's very good except one issue. GSM randomly (from my POV) mostly after rebooting stops working and the only thing I can do to make it work is to reflash my device. I attached my logs (maybe i had to do it in another way, but spoiler tag didn't work and i decided this one is the best). Also I will try to answer your questions that will help to find the problem as fast as possible.

I tried one, didn't help, tried another one and now it's flashing about 20 mins and still in progress, should I worry?

Default ROM?

I've tried a handful of Nougat roms now, and I keep having the same issue with all of them: no call, text, or data. I've tried a few mods that are supposed to fix the issue, and even a ROM where, in the aroma settings, it gave me an option to fix the issue. I'm not sure as to where the point of failure is, but I think it's just an issue with this model of phone in particular. The Marshmallow ROM I currently have is having some issues with app compatibility, so if anyone knows how to flash back to the stock firmware, I'd greatly appreciate it.

You cant really unroot because of the knox bug. You can flash back stock firmaware via odin and get recovery and flash the latest super su so the bug will be gone or flash a custom kernel.

I kind of have the same issue, except I can text and have mobile data. I just can't hear calls, and no one can hear me during calls.
I have note 5 SM-N920T, and I am using the N-DroidMod v6 custom ROM (it changed my model number to SM-n920c). I can't tell which kernel will fix the issue, and is compatible with the ROM.
Can you help?

That's the audio bug, try to look in the thread for the audio patch where you flash. Usually provided by the developer if not then you may need to change to another rom that has that patch or a rom that was made for the t mobile version.
