[TOOL / SCRIPT][9/19] - CleanTOOL - AT&T De-Bloater - Non Destructive - AT&T LG G2

Here is a simple shell script I whipped up that disables a bunch of crap on the AT&T phone.
Info
Disables a lot of bloat and logging crap!
All LG functions, special features and magical things will still work!
If you want the removed bloat edit the script or just re-install it from the Play Store!
It can all be recovered with a Factory Reset. This is NON DESTRUCTIVE!
If you need help or want to modify the script for your own personal tastes then just ask. I will help!
Prerequisites
Need to be rooted and USB Debugging turned on!
Need to have ADB at the ready!
Know how to read and type
High level overview
Copy the attached "CleanTOOL" zip and copy contents to the root of your Internal Storage
chmod it to "755" or "777" I run everything 777 but 755 should work
Run it
Reboot phone
Delete the CleanTOOL shell script (optional)
Step by Step
Download the CleanTOOL attachment extract it and copy to your Internal Storage
Open an adb shell by starting a command prompt and typing "adb shell"
Type "su" and press enter
Type "cd /data/media/0" and press enter
Type "chmod 777 CleanTOOL" and press enter
Type "./CleanTOOL" and press enter
Type "reboot" and press enter
What your phone will look like afterwards...

thanks. i guess i was asking because i froze some stuff that could potentially just be deleted entirely so i wanted to be careful. if we get the tool it seems like it might be best to unfreeze everything and let you do your magic lol. on a side note i was amazed at how much crap verizon loaded on this. it just gets worse and worse. its one thing that apple doesn't have to deal with.

Any way I could help you make one of these for the T-Mobile variant?

sweet man. hope you branch into verizon for the roms.

Yes, good. Do this...
"adb shell pm list packages > tmo.txt" and then upload the contents to the thread and I will make it real quick like tonight.
Same for vzw but someone change name to VZW.txt.

Thanks but that doesn't work. The easiest way I have found it to download the app "AppMonster" go to the app you want the apk and select "backup", then use root explorer, or whatever file explorer, to navigate to /sdcard/appmonster2/backup/[app name]/rev , there you will find the apk. Now you can copy it and upload it. Thanks anybody willing to do this for me!

[MOD][DEV](5/24/12) Hide ATT Logo in Status Bar | DL Link up...

Hello. Currently, it hides the "AT&T" in both the unexpanded and expended statusbar. I can make it so it appears in just the expanded statusbar or put something else in the expanded statusbar (may take a bit, but should be fairly quick).
I have some testers, so if they say all is good, I'll put up the DL link straightaway...
I am working on working CWM port now, so I am just going to post, as it seems to work. Have fun, and use at your own risk!!! I'll also have an installer up soon.
Oh, THIS IS FOR THE 1.82 RUU, I haven't tested on 1.73, but I can make it for that version, as well, and 1.85 when it's rooted...also, you need to be Deodexed!

You're fine. I usually give 24 hours to post the link. Im not a hardass like some of the other Mods.
Thanks for all of your hard work! You seem to be running about 4 projects at a time.
Hey, sk ...that Logo is not rom based...it's actually carrier based, It will display whatever carrier you are on..
For example, I'm on 1.82 att rom but it displays rogers, since i'm using rogers..
so when you changed to another network it will be the name of other network.
just want everyone to know, so they will not be that annoyed to have it.

Thanks for pointing this out. I just find it annoying/redundant, and it's not in the carrier free One X, so I got rid of it. Like I said, I can add it back to the expanded status bar if people need to know what network they are on (and it's still on your lockscreen).

Process:
1) Rename Old SystemUI.apk to SystemUI.apk.old
2) Move new SystemUI.apk to /system/app/ with Root Explorer
3) Set Permissions to rw-rw-rw
Success on Magnolia X. (On 1.82)
Just to let everyone know it re-set my wallpaper to the default ROM one, but of course this is easy, just re-select the one you want!

The wallpaper change happens any time you replace the systemui because when I was doing some theming of the apk it happened every time even when putting the original back. Just need to go into settings and reset it no biggy.

you can do this much cleaner by just running a sqlite command to set all the values instead of pushing a different db in.
for rom devs, you can change this in the framework where the apn is stored, that way it gets put into the database this way.

Not familiar with AT&T but I'm curious about this. Does AT&T offer a specific plan for data with dethering and another one without the ability to do so? Or is this a "fix" for the tethering feature on the stock ROMs or custom ROMs? Or a bit of both?
One reason I ask is because WiFi Hotspot isn't working on the current ROM I'm on.
Thanks in advance for the info guys.

At&T charges 50 bucks a month for the data plan that includes tethering.
Great tool! I was able to use SQLite to make tethering working.
Hey guys I tried doing it via sqlite and via this method, both gives me FC when android boots up. It says "unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped". I cant get into my phone and it just bootloops. Any ideas?

That's ridiculous! Data is data I don't get it. I know Rogers has a limitation where anything 500MB or lower doesn't support tethering, but with the 1GB plan and up you're good and 1GB is $30/mo by default. I'm on a 6GB promo plan for the same $30 price. I'm glad this mod is out for you guys!!

Not sure what changes you applied in sqlite but I would suggest just reflashing a new rom to fix your dialer then running this tool to get the tether fix.

I updated the OP with a new download that includes adb!

Has anyone tested this on the the Cleanrom 2.1? Is it just the telephone db that this changes?

I didn't test with that rom but it should work. Yes, it just modifies the telephony db.

Had an issue with one of the other 4.3 ROMs. Had to patch SU and do some cleanup to fix. Wiped it twice to use that ROM. Can't say I've ever had a bad experience with any of your ROMs so I doubt I'll find anything. Especially if it's stock.
You are all over the place man. Seems every device I get you are already developing for or pop up out of freakin nowhere. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication.

There haven't been any problems like root disappearing or tb issues or massive lag during the setup or running anything.
Could an Odexed ROM be possible? Thanks in advance

I will prolly work on one this weekend so if you want to play with this make your nandroid and give this a flash.
Hey bro,
Good work getting yours fully functional. How did you go about yours? I used dsi-xda kitchen, I know it's old so that could be why I had issues. Just want to find out where I went wrong haha, I'm all for learning
Thanks for the upload!

No, I actually only use DSI-XDA kitchen myself.
I did what I always do, grab the stock image from Google, break it down, add my own root and busybox (not the ones in the kitchen, they are older).
Then I use my updater-script that I hand built from prior releases along with matching binaries.
Pretty much that is it. I am going to look at yours in a minute and I will PM you what I find.
EDIT: Sorry, I didint mean to cut you off on your thread either.
Downloading now, thank you ?

Thanks @scrosler. Going to wait for your Clean Rom.
I just tried to flash it (deodex) in TWRP, and it failed. It says:
symlink: some symlinks failed.
E:Error executing updater binary in zip
EDIT: I redownloaded the file, and it worked on the 2nd try. Must have been a bad download.

Don't worry man haha, yours works better let's be honest so we might as well get people using it.
Interesting I did pretty much the exact same, added the updated superuser since there is a really old one in the kitchen like you said. I think my updater script was okay. I guess I had some weird binaries or something, I just grabbed them from a 4.4.2 rom, not entirely sure what there purpose is. Or how to view/edit them.
I'll probably have another blast at it tomorrow just for the fun of it, I want to try get it working so I know for the future
EDIT: though I had issue with root not working out the box, maybe I missed replacing something. What files did you replace?
If you want to look at mine it's here: http://d-h.st/rMs
Sorry for being curious

This is an error with TWRP. Just reboot into bootloader then back into recovery and you will be fine.
New boot loader included?
