[Q] HELP! with Note N8020 with CM - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

EDIT: The cm-10.2-20131409 n8020 nightly is at least for European users (like Sonera) now tested = BROKEN. Wifi stopped working, UI buttons stopped working, play store not working at all, camera gives you a pixelated flashing screen, flashlight not working at all (crash) and many many more.. It officially destroyed itself.. This is just a warning for everyone from Finland at least, do NOT try it.

20130509 Nightly is working OK. Only problems are IR not working, camera not working and the ui seems to be a little "blurred". Sonera network works also, but i have not tried 4G (LTE) because here in Lapland we have only 3G. Otherwise thumbs up.

My touch screen stop working when I turn the phone upside down.. Not sure if this is the same problem.
Haven't had this happen. I've only had the auto rotate stop working.

Honestly that's a really great idea if it was a feature. Think about it no more accidental answer/deny when pulling it out of your pocket if you put it in upside down. And how often if ever is the phone used upside down. I'm calling for a patent on this one!
I have this issue.
I have this issue and it goes far beyond the keyboard. I will be playing fruit ninja and half the screen will be unresponsive. Its happening quite a bit and I am thinking about exchanging my phone.
Same here
I've been having the same problems but I think it has only happened to me when I use custom ROMs such as Cyanogenmod or Coredroid. When I went back to stock I don't remember it happening.
I was running Coredroid V8.1 a few weeks ago and didn't like it because the font looked terrible but I think the keyboard didn't give that problem, it was with an older version of CD. Right now I am using Cyanogenmod 7.0 and it happens a lot and gets annoying. I now for a fact that is not hardware since the keyboard will work normally on landscape and other stuff will respond to the touchscreen.
Still trying to see if there is some sort of fix or to use a new keyboard. Installed GO keyboard and same thing happened, now using Swiftkey X and it happened also but now I took the protective case to see if that has something to do with it LOL.
edit: disregard.
ive had this problem also for awhile. i dont remember having it on the factory rom, but that was awhile back also. ive had it on every custom rom that i can think of. i used coredroid and cm7 for awhile. right now im using miui. ive tried 3-4 different keyboard at least, and had this problem with all of them. the keyboards accuracy also seems to decline. when switching to a new keyboard the problem initially goes away, but it eventually starts doing it again with the different keyboard.
I would try come non CM based roms as I have seen this come up a few times and the omr thing most have in common is that it shows up on CM based roms like MIUI. I have never had this issue on any sense based rom so that would lead me to think like wifi and Bluetooth that it is due to the non OEM drivers CM uses.
Coreddroid is a sense rom, and I had it back then. I've been using absolution, which is cm7 based, and have not since had the problem. The problem has also been reported to occur on non rooted, stock phones.

Camera stopped working

My camera stopped working randomly, when i try and load the camera it looks like its jsut taking awhile to load, then i get a message saying activity camera (in application camera) is not responding. I'm not sure whats wrong, any ideas?
Which rom are u using on your phone?

just got cyanogen mod 7
Is it a ROM Flash issue?
That is: have you tried re-flashing CM7?
When did you flash CM7 in relation to noticing your camera doesn't work?
Did it ever work since you flashed CM7 or did you just notice it?
Is it an application issue?
That is: have you tried a different camera from the market?
Have you tried installing the camera (included in CM7) again?
Is it a hardware issue?
That is: have you visually inspected the camera? Dropped the phone? Stepped on (or otherwise significantly compress) the phone?
SOME information other than "Hey yo, my camera no worky." would really help out.
Sorry for the lack of description, i think it might just be a hardware issue because i first noticed it stopped working randomly when i had Juicy rom on then i flashed a rom that didnt work and then finally got CM7 and it worked great but the camera issue is still affecting it. I have tried taking pictures on different camera apps and i still get that same error screen. I dont know what other info to provide, i think its just broke thanks for helping!
Happened to me once and kinda scared me a bit lol All I kept getting was a black screen no matter what camera app I used even factory reset didn't fix it. What worked for me was to go completely clean and flash the RUU gingerbread update from AT&T.

Wifi issues with all ICS based roms.

I have tried lots of ICS roms till now and with every rom Iam seeing same wifi issues.
Wifi keeps disconnecting every 15 20 mins.
Today I installed official ICS using ODIN and still same issue. I was thinking this wouldn't be present in final release.
Everything works perfect on GB. Very excited about ICS but can't use my phone with wifi issues
Did anyone notice this on their phone?

I haven't had this issue personally..
Have you tried more then one WIFI network? Just thinking maybe it's your access point/router that's having issues, try restarting it perhaps?
Edit: Could also try playing with the WIFI settings in the router, sometimes changing the channel works for especially angry devices.
Factory reset the router
Sent from my SGH-I727 using xda premium
As I said earlier, it has nothing to do with my Router as everything works perfectly if I am on GB. I have Kindle Fire(on CM9) and Galaxy Tab 2( CM9) also and no issues those devices.
I see the same issue at home as well as in office wifi.
As the wifi gets connected within seconds after getting disconnected so it doesn't effect Web browsing, but when playing online games it becomes a nightmare.

Quite strange I've never had this problem. Try to delete the connection and re-add it

Try to clean data of settings and settings storage...(you'll loose your settings but not you data) If still not working I recommend a full wipe
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Did not help me. After full wipe (Factory reset in TWM) it keeps forgetting WiFi settings on reboot. /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf does not save wifi creds. Looks like las nightly build is buggy.
Best,

Both versions from 19 and 20.10.2014 do not work. I rollbacked to the version from 20140803, the last backup I have. This one doesn't have mentioned issue.

I've found this https://gerrit.omnirom.org/#/c/9804/ . This is the only commit that could have created the problem. Maybe if you revert the file wpa_supplicant.conf on your device as it was on the left of https://gerrit.omnirom.org/#/c/9804/1/configs/wpa_supplicant.conf wifi will start to memorize netwok again.... Can you try this? If you confirm that it starts to work again I'll make a commit and merge it, if you can't I (might) check this on next weekend

I need a log and a complete description. What do you mean that you installed THE kitkat ? Are you using omnirom or another rom? Or have you flashed samsung stock kitkat and then omnirom? Have you tested with other devices? The bluetooth switch on or not? Can you find other phones?

Thank you marco9333 for your hard work.
Omnirom video issues
I still seem to be having issues with the latest omnirom nightly with xfinity tv not playing very well and taking a long time to buffer with occasional choppy video.
Is this probably still an existing issue with the video codecs in omnirom? I know there were issues that are supposedly fixed a day or two ago, but it seems not fixed perfectly.
CM11 rom plays video fine with xfinity tv. At least the version in android devel unofficial does. It is probably a month or so old version.
Just thought I'd let the omnirom dev know

Are you playing a 1080p video? Try to switch to 720p and report (1080p is useless on our tablet because of screen resolution). I can't use xfinity in my country so I've no way to check it
Video Issues
I posted yesterday that I was having issues with the Xfinity Tv Go app not working well and having issues with playback. After further testing, it does work fine with omnirom. It seems that the buffering issues I had were related to the connection / possibly not working at 100 percent due to battery being low? This doesn't make much sense to me but once I plugged it all worked as expected.
Just thought I'd respond back to my yesterday's post so that it is known I did get this working. Cheers,
I'm very glad to see active developement on this somewhat old tablet. It may be old but it still has great specs and plenty of speed / ram to be a daily workhorse for many years to come imo - as long as the software / security keeps up to date.
After flashing the latest nightly, I have no root and can't get into recovery. How do I re-root?

IR Blaster
Just flashed the latest nightly. 25th of Jan 2015.
After trying to use the IR blaster to turn on a Sony TV and a Samsung Smart TV using the peel smart remote (Galaxy Tab) with no success I was wondering if the IR blaster worked? and if so what app is working most successfully?
A serious problem with nighly updates
First of all. I am not receiving any nightly updates. I reflashed the ROM and then I got one update. Its dormant again. I am not getting any update that available for the last 3 weeks.
2nd. My WiFi seems to be disconnecting/reconnecting every now and then, rather every two minutes or so.
I need some solutions for both of these. This the best ROM by far.
Thank you.

Dont quote me on this: I think you only get an update to new nightlies when there are changes... Like when the MD5 changes - e.g. there are bits different in the file - I dont think filename counts as a change because that is managed by the file system the file resides-on as opposed to tacked-onto the file...
So even though there may be new nightlies everyday, if nothing is changing in the code they are in effect the same file, bit-wise - so no update.
If anyone knows exactly how the update deltas work can you verify this?

GApps wont be updating again, now what?
I was downloading the ROM and the Gapps, but it seems that the developer (of the Gapps) is leaving the thread and not updating anymore... are there other alternatives? thanks!

[Q] official cm12.1 wifi wont work

Hi yesterday i got that awsome tablet i wanted to install cm 12.1 it worked but if i enable wifi there are networks so i choose my network and type the key but when i hit connect there is a little notification network could not be etablished any solution coz all other 5.1.1 roms are not that good:crying::crying::crying::crying:
Hi there! I got the same problem with cm 12.1 official rom. Did you find any solution?
This is a known problem, though not solved yet by the maintainer (and probably won't ever be, judging from the device's popularity).
The workaround I discovered is to turn off WiFi, lock the screen for a few seconds, unlock, turn on WiFi and do your thing. This works for both scenarios: 1) connecting to a new network but it keeps saying "failed" and won't accept your password, and 2) connecting to a network you're sure you've connected before, but the device has "forgotten" the password.

anyone know who to beg about this...i just got a tf300t and having the same issue with CM 12.1. I know i can you katkiss..but.....I am not to proud to beg someone!
@tguadagno The CM12 thread in the Dev subforum is the only way I know to get in touch with some devs, however the OP seldom checks the forum and almost never positively replied to my queries.
I've decided to bear with this issue unless it gets uncontrollable, then instead of fitting it with KatKiss, I'll just have it sold. A device without functional CM is of little value to me.

After each time I've installed Katkiss 5.1.1 R** or CM-12.1 clean install, connection to a password-ed network has always failed.
I found connecting to an open network first, fixes the problem for me, I can then connect to a password-ed network with no problems.
TF300t currently running Kattkiss 5.1.1R10 #27 , havent found any problems other than just stated, battery life doesn't seem any better or worse than other roms.
katkis is working great and im not interested in cm12.1 anymore coz lack of dock battery icon and i downgraded to android 4.1 stock asus + root to use xubuntu
My issue is wifi wont even turn on.

Major PITA....Just tried the snapshot from Oct 7 and the latest nightly, still no good. The above method doesn't work on my normal wifi. I setup a 2nd one (Buffalo) with low security and it connected but still iffy. Ironically my main router is by Asus...
I sold my tf300t and randomly I got a tf300tg with cm 12 the new tablet has no problems but I put back stock 4.2 because of 3g feature

June 2016 CM12.1 ROM still experiencing the same issue.
Unfortunately, this makes this ROM unusable.
