I wasn't able to keep cwm after initial boot..
If I try to boot into recovery after initial boot and boot loops....
Any suggestions?

sometimes ROM overwrites any other boot found as a security feature .. as you said .. the best thing you do is to flash CWM and boot into recovery before normal ROM boot .. good luck

I used to own a sky rocket and now i have the hd version.
Besides the resolution, is the rooting flashing roms the same as non-hd?

Below is the instructions to install CWM and root on the S2 HD LTE. (credit to the user dsixda)
Get the required files here
To install CWM Recovery:
If you don't already have Odin, download it from the link above, and extract the zipped file to a folder. Ensure both the .EXE and .INI file have been extracted.
Download the TAR file for ClockWorkMod Recovery (e.g. cwm_recovery_xxxx.tar, or if you want the version that uses finger touch input: cwm_touch_recovery_xxxx.tar). Do not extract the file out of it, keep the TAR file as it is.
Turn off the phone
Put it into Download mode by pressing Power and Volume Down at the same time. The device will vibrate and soon you will see a Warning screen, where you will need to press Volume Up to enter Download mode. (NOTE: You can also use the Galaxy S2 USB Jig to go straight to Download mode. I recommend you get one from eBay just in case.)
While in Download mode, start up Odin and connect your phone to the PC via USB. You should see a status message in Odin saying your device was "added".
In Odin, press the BOOTLOADER button and select the CWM TAR file you just downloaded.
In Odin, press Start. Your custom recovery should be flashed completely in a span of a few seconds, and then it should say "PASS" in Odin. If it doesn't finish and is stuck, then your file was either corrupted during the download or there was an MD5 mismatch (this is not a regular TAR file, it has an MD5 signature).
IMPORTANT: If you downloaded the "Touch" version of CWM, *avoid* using the "Reboot to Recovery" option in the ROM or apps like Quick Boot to boot into recovery. I have found that using such apps with Touch Recovery causes every subsequent reboot to go back into recovery rather than to the system. If you are stuck in this state, re-flash the recovery image so that it boots back to the system. Next time, if you want to get into recovery, use the button combination mentioned in the steps below instead. If you have the non-touch (normal) version of CWM, this issue won't happen.
To enter CWM Recovery:
Turn off the phone
Hold down the Power button to turn the phone on, and then immediately hold down Volume Up + Volume Down at the same time.
The device will then show the word "Samsung". Let go of the buttons at the exact moment you see this.
If you did it on time, you will enter CWM Recovery. Use the Volume keys to move up and down, and press Power to select. The capacitive buttons do this: Menu = DOWN, Back = BACK to main menu, Search = SELECT
NOTE: If you had flashed CWM but are still seeing the stock recovery image, then re-flash CWM and afterwards pull the USB cable immediately after seeing 'PASS' in Odin, while the phone's screen is black. Then do the button combo shown above to get into CWM.
Make sure you make a Nandroid backup of everything the first time you use custom recovery. The backup will be stored under the 'clockworkmod' folder of your SD card.
To root your device through CWM:
This step is only if you want to root the stock firmware that is currently on your device. If you are going to flash a ROM like CyanogenMod, then you can skip this section, since most custom ROMs already have root installed.
You need to first download root_sgs2hdbell.zip from the Dev-Host site linked above. Copy it to your device's internal or external SD card.
Then go back into CWM and flash the ZIP. You should now be rooted, you don't need to do anything else to your stock ROM.

great!!! since you can enter download mode I am gonna say you the easiest way to get your phone back in running condition..
*Download ODIN (google for the download link or search here in forums)
*Download a stock firmware from samfirmware (www.sammobile.com/firmwares/) or from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004647 and extract the downloaded file to .tar.md5
*Install samsung USB drivers.
*Get your phone into Download mode and connect it to PC via usb cable.
*Open ODIN and check if the com port section and turned yellow(this means your phone is recognised by ODIN).
*Once the port section is yellow open the PDA section in ODIN and point the downloaded stock firmware in it.(the firmware file should be of format "I9003DDLF2_I9003ODDLF2_I9003DDLE1_HOME.tar.md5").This format is just for example and it may vary depending on the stock ROM you dowloaded.
*Click the start button.
*Once finished the ODIN com port section will turn green and should report "PASS"
*Disconnect your phone and Power on.. wait for some time as its the first boot so it will take time so be patient.

tweeks are to to edit your build.prop and CWM(ClockWorkMOD) which allows you to create a backup point which you can restore via recovery and also let you flash ROM,MOD,etc and SuperUser is the app which comes into play after rooting which give root access to your phone/apps.
@themes:since you are on stock you can download any launcher like go launcher from market and download themes from there
so, how can i install jb or ics themes on my phone, I just want theme not the whole rom. or is there any custom gingerbread rom(stable like stock rom) for installing jb themes..? :0

To enter recovery mode you should press Volume UP+Home Button+Power Button.press it long enough till samsung logo passes by.. and even my screen fades when I try it manually... try it for 4-5 times till you enter in recovery and dont worry when screen fades, its not an issue...
maybe your kernel is not compatible with the present version of CWM and since its not compatible some features might have been disabled and its no big deal....Custom ROM is zip and should be flashed via recovery so that you can wipe data/cache/dalvik..

that supersu will work on anything... you just need to flash CWM...
So it must flash cwm first, is it will get yellow triangle and binary counter?
is there temporary cwm?
Sent from my GT-P6800 using Tapatalk 2
nope... we wont have yellow triangle or binary counter count... we are not note/note2/s3/s4
Thanks. So there is no yellow triangle or binary counter effect when flashing via odin for 7.7.

the universal root works, got my jb4.1.2 rooted. now removing the bloatwares.
Any other way to inject cwm without using odin on pc? I'm trying to root this one but i need first to install cwm. I don't want to increase my flash counter.

True. We're in the same scenario and i thought they didn't care at all about users installing custom roms. One time, i go to their shop to service my unit because of software issues. I was surprised that they recommend me to flash my own unit using odin, even my unit is still under warranty. I think they are too lazy to flash a unit that is still under warranty because it covers it all (No pay). Another day i visit their store and i noticed their 2 tabs has Supersu on it. LOL.
This is is my 1st time to use odin pc to my tab. I frequently used mobile odin pro on my android devices. That's right! Flash to the max!

Can someone describe how to root the P6800 with Stock JB in detail? I have tried following the links in the earlier posts, but with no success. Hello guys.
Im struggeling to install a custom ROM at the stage of installing a CWM recovery. My S2 plus 9105p runs Android 4.2.2 and everytime I try to upload a recovery img via Odin everything works fine as expected but when I try to start (volume up, home, power) the recovery mode - it gets always into the standard Android one - not CWM recovery!!! It looks like Samsung has integrated some kind of security mechanism which keeps us from running custom ROMs...
I have realy tried maybe 5 different recovery images, but non of those worked for me.
Can you please help?

I tried exactly also this particular site and steps described on it, but didn't help... The same problem. Everything was OK, but recovery was not CWM but standard Android one.
When u have flashed ur recorvery, take ur battery out and then plug battery again. And now go to recorvery.
Now it is WORKING !
Hi guys.
I followed the step-by-step guide on this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2560928
- used the CWM 6.0.4.5 and Odin3 0.7
- after successfull flash of the PDA with this recovery (manualy unset the auto-reboot option) I have pulled the battery out for a couple of seconds
- the battery came back in again and with home-volUP-Power I got directly to the new CWM recovery.
So thanx all for your support and you can lock this thread as everything is working now.
DETAILED STEPS FOR INSTALLING CWM RECOVERY IF THE PHONE AUTOMATICALLY RE_FLASHES IT:
Installation
WITH ODIN
1. Be sure, that your device is on 4.2.2 stock firmware and shut down the phone
2. Be sure that Samsung drivers are installed on your pc. Just install Kies or google for them
3. Download Odin 3.07(google it) and the CWM-Recovery image (in this case CWM 6.0.4.5 )
4. Open Odin as administrator
5. Start-up the phone by pressing Vol_DOWN + Home + Power so you get into the flash-menu.
6. After reading the disclaimer and warning stuff - simply press Vol_UP and plug the USB cable to the PC and Phone
7. In ODIN click on PDA and select the downloaded CWM-recovery (*filename*.tar.md5) . Check - "F. Reset Time" and UNCHECK!! -> "Auto Reboot"
8. Click start and wait until the blue progress bar in your device is graphicaly 100% (I also suggest to wait another minute to make things sure..)

My friend has a UNROOTED Galaxy Tab 2 10.1" and it's stuck on the Samsung screen (bootloop). I guided her towards recovery mode but it doesn't work. It doesn't boot to recovery mode but it does to download mode. How do I fix this?
There is one way to solve this.
Using odin[You need a pc for this]
follow the steps.
1.Install Odin in your PC from here
http://odindownload.com/download/Odin3_v3.10.6.zip
2.download the official firmware of your device from sammobiles .
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
3.Go to download mode in your device (vol down+power button)
4.Now connect your device to the pc and open Odin.
5.Now open Odin in your PC and under PDA browse for the firmware you downloaded and click start.
6.Now wait till it says pass. After that detach your device and wait till it boots.
This reboot may take like 5-15 mins. Incase it doesn't boot up even 30mins just try going to recovery and perform a factory reset.
THATS IT.YOU HAVE SOLVED YOUR PROBLEM.
