I wonder if the Optimus 3d plays smoothly MKV High Profile 4.x or 5.x Full HD (high bitrate) as the Galaxy S2 plays ....
if so, is made by HW or SW? (s2 is the HW galaxy, right?)

I played from o3d 27Mbits full HD movie over hdmi and generally movie was smooth but not at 100%.
I played it on froyo yet,maybe GB make that smoother.

I got it cause I can get a hardware upgrade every 12 months so I figured what the hell, a free 3D phone how bad can it be.
My previous android was an xperia x10 which had just recently been having this issue where it would not want to record video.
The LG 3D worked fine for a few months but now I have to restart it at least once a day or the internet and phone capabilities will stop working. It wont turn off or anything but when I try to call something the dialer just keeps closing and the internet just wont connect. The battery is pretty bad, I got a fat aftermarket one on ebay but I can still take that down quite a bit in a day if Im actually using the phone. On top of that the music player has a constant inter-midden skip issues that are pretty annoying. As for the 3D I hardly ever use it since it doesnt do much good when its not on the phone. And Ive talked to a few other people with the phone and they arent happy with it either.
So is it LG that struggles to make a solid android or was this one just on the bottom end so they could slap a 3D label on it?

I guess many of us here wont agree with you about the hardware on O3D. It is imo the most solid hardware from the 2011 phones. Have you tried a custom ROM ? Like mine for exemple?

You are right and you are wrong.
You are right about the device out-of-the-box. LG ROMs are crap, period.
You are wrong because the developers here have done an AWESOME work improving this phone.
Try some custom roms (ThiaiZ, Promethius by Samno, Acura,...) and you'll see a BIG difference.
Sell this piece of sheet and buy another phone, no LG

I have one , made ROMs for it in the beggining as well. Everything that runs in it runs in the O3D as smooth as, but we all know that a bunch of things that we run on O3D can't run on SGS2. . Not saying it is not good.

Lg support=agree with u 100%
Custom roms= make a good one and post here
Froyo, gb= agree 100% with u, they r too old
Performance=what r u comparing it to? A PC? Quad core device?
Video recording + photo camera= could be better , but it has 3D and it is cool.
Internal storage= microsd card fix it,there is no need for a big internal storage when you can add a microsd
Cm7= why ? I have never used it

Its just disappointing when a lot of us bought the device for the hardware specs and were let down by bad support .. there are a lot of great devs don't get me wrong.. but I could care less about 3d then to show off... I bought it for its ti omap 4 processor.. and its dual channel ram... which isn't even fully optimized...

What is in your opinion a better dualcore phone with 500mb dual memory for this price? ( plus the 3d feature) Oh, and the video recording is in my opinion not as bad as the video recording of other phones...

I had the 3d,now i have a 3d max changed for good opportunity. it works smooth than 3d also with cpu set to 800mhz and stock rom, i have only freeze some ak i don t need. nobody tried the porting of 3dmax rom to normal 3d?

Anyway i bought a 3d phone not for 3d playback or gaming but for 3d recording and remembering that is only a phone i can say that my recorded 3d video are not so bad when a see im my 3d tv. Than my 3d never hanged or rebooted and works h 24 all the day.
Dude we are talking here about an Android phone. Did you know you can optimize your phone pretty much by rooting it and flashing Custom rom/ modifing the system values ? I´ve made an tread with some options you can check it out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786151
We have still Ics coming for our Phones, maybe it will improve performance...

Macro 3D IS HERE!!!
No flower icon but the ability to focus close up is MUCH MUCH better than before! As close as 8cm to get a "Green Square" & Beep to indicate a good focus lock has been acquired by the camera. But 3DSteroid helps a lot to bring the L&R images closer for better stereo viewing.

The UI after you take a photo and see what you took is different too! BTW the say "Kimchi" shutter feature works

Photos must be made separately.

Phereo takes a while to update people's uploads before you can see them. I'm also uploading some fresh close-up macro photos of my cat's live face, since it something that would have been impossible with the O3D before now! (not even with 3DSteroid!). I suppose 7-8cm is the limit of the individual cameras. I should have done it before but can you try to measure the closest distance a picture you can get good focus lock in 3D mode with the native O3D camera before ICS? Check my Phereo page later to catch those when they are made available.
From the O3D feature list hinted at...
"update for Optimus 3d 3d feature (DSLR shot, ruler tag, 3d macro, manual focus, zooming while recording)."
The item I can genuinely confirm as available right now is the 3D macro improvement.
If the rest of those things are in this update, despite my looking for them, they seem very well hidden.
If I uncover anything else 3D related I'll let you guys know. What a nice surprise to have this ICS update today on 13th Oct 2012. I must say that I'm personally happy there are "some" changes for the good (even if it is not all that we were lead to believe) . I hope it's not too soon to proclaim good riddance to GB on the O3D .:fingers-crossed:

I was sure that the stock GB's 3D camera app on my cube refused to lock focus on anything nearby before this update. Anyone else confirm macro already works on the stock GB of Optimus 3D, plus let me know!

The tablet has to have a 3D screen, you can't just play them and it will work, the tablet has to support 3D Playback. what tablet do you have. I don't know any tablets with a 3D screen.

So... Your tab has a 3d screen? Never heard of that as well. If thatsreally the case, try to play your files with the "built in" video Player or read the info for your tab, it should be stated which format it can play.
Edit: troll? I did a quick search and there are no 3d mid tabs. They all even run Android 2.2 Froyo or 2.1 Eclair. Mate your screen is not 3d. If somebody told you its 3d, he trolled you or you misunderstood him saying that the tab can run 3d games...

They are talking about anaglyph 3d. Using red/blue glasses. You can find media players to play for a computer that play mp4 3d. I've looked and there isn't anything on the market to play these mp4 files on an android tablet. They just play side by side. I'm using a nexus 7.

3D converter does not work in 4.0.4 [Ice cream sandwich] It did work in 2.3.5 Gingerbread so if you have recently updated to ICS there are a few things that no longer work. There is no longer mpo file [3d picture] viewing, The app manager is useless also.

man, u'r not alone in your problem. I know some guys that have the same, so am I. and the only way to make 3D converter work we found - is hard reset.

You are wrong. Converter 3D works in ICS. MPO files works in ICS that same like in GB.

where u've founded that updates?
Try it. It's deodexed GB version.
If will work don't update it.
3d converter on stock 4.0.4 on cube often does not convert 3D properly unlike on GB before I updated. I no longer see 3D layering of angry birds. Ps I never rooted my phone.
MPO files are displayed not in 3D parallel barrier on screen but 2D that alternate L & R image if I tilt the phone. Is that normal for MPO support?

I have an p920 and upgraded it with stock ics no problems with 3d converter. It is impossible that it depends on upgrade or iam wrong

Ahhh, but I see you have 3D Max. Devs are working on porting ICS for that but I haven't heard anything recently.
Yeah, I'd try to do the reset and/or reinstalling the app.
Bummer, I don't see a dedicated forum for the max.
