Hi guys,
This is actually my first post in xda forums. So, i got a Nexus S with KelLMSKing MIUI Mod 2.8.1 custom ROM and 2.6.35.14-ck-1-cfs Matr1x kernel. Well, i'd like to return to ICS in order to update to Jelly Bean and then maybe install a new custom ROM. How could i get this done without loosing root access?
Any help is appreciated!

Hello. Will ask the question straight:
Is it possible to skip an update of a custom rom and install the latest one?
Currently using the [ROM][DEV] CyanogenMod 10.1 JB 4.2.2 - Androidarmv6 [RC2 - 17/04/2013 Beta 7 and there are two updates (RC 1 & RC 2)
My point is if it's possible to update the ROM straight to RC 2 while skipping RC 1. Does it harm the smartphone and i assume it it safe to do it via the CWM.

Yes, you are safe to skip. The latest release will be having all updates from the previous release.
Thought so. Thanks mate!
You're perfectly safe. You're wiping the system partition anyway when you're installing a new ROM so no data would remain from the previous ROM.

It updated successfull. The ROM seems to lack a bit of ram memory gonna wait for a future release hoping for ram consume improvements. Thanks guys!

OK so I rooted my sprint galaxy s3, and installed cynagenmod with the current gaaps(at the time).
I have upgraded cynagenmod several times through
>settings>about phone>CynagenMod updates
At one point I stopped running cm updates because goomanger prompted me of a new version of gaaps. I was not sure if I needed the current gaaps to also update to a newer release of cynagenmod.
I am currently running
10.1-20130304-EXPEREMENTAL-d2spr-M2
I would like to upgrade to
10.1.2 (stable build)
I have TWRP as my recovery,
Can I just flash both the upgrade for cm and gaaps and not have to reset my phone?
I am not sure if I need to do a full fresh install, because I recall various upgrades making changes to the boot partition.
So I guess I am looking for the proper procedure to upgrade/update cm and gaaps.
When a fresh install is necessary, and the order in which gaaps needs to be installed..., before? simultaneously? Or after?
thanks

I am trying to install my first custom ROM on my XT926 ota kk 4.4.2 rooted bootloader unlocked. I have cwm 6.0.4.4 and I have tried installing cm 10.2 stable and then I tried cm 11 snapshot and it says it has installed .zip files successfully but when I reboot it just hangs up on the M logo and I have to restore my ota to get my phone to reboot, any help would be appreciated, thanks.
I believe most of the Roms in the Dev forum are still using 4.1.2 base, which means you cant flash them unless you go back to jb first.
There are some 4.4 test builds around you could flash on kk, sorry I don't have the link to them.

I tried one of the cm 11 ROMs from cyanogenmod's website, are you saying that those are also designed for the 4.1.2 kernel? If so does anyone have any suggestions on how to revert back to the jelly bean kernel, Also I was wondering if its OK to download the custom rom.zip file directly to the phone and put it in the right directory instead of moving it from the computer.
Unless they were updated to 4.4 source in the last week, I would say they are still on jb source. Most of the Roms you will find are a jellykat mix.
I posted a guide in the general forum, near the bottom you will find a pre-edited jb file you can use to flash with rsd.
Yes you can DL Roms right to your phone if you wish.

Hi All,
I have a Tf700T with TWRP 2.4.3.0 and CleanRom 3.4.4 in it.
This gives me 4.1 but I would like to move up to 4.4 for a more modern machine.
The question is of the ROMs available today supporting 4.4 which is the most stable and best choice?
Should I upgrade TWRP as well?
TNX
Best 4.4 rom is cyanogenmod 11 official nightlies.
A twrp update seems to be necessary to me... loom into dev-section for information about cyannogen

"Best" is in the eye of the beholder.
Check out Zombi-X or Crombi-KK or if you want to move to a Lollipop rom go for Zombi-POP.
You will need to update your bootloader and recovery no matter what you want to flash....
Check the OP of your chosen rom carefully for instructions
I agree. But for 4.4 cyanogen 11 is best supported i think.
For lollipop its zombi in my point of view
