Hi XDA! convolution here with another review on a product. This time, it's a privacy screen protector:
http://www.tmart.com/Privacy-Screen-Protector-for-LG-Nexus4-E960_p171644.html
I actually just wanted a normal screen protector, but I didn't read carefully when I ordered the product, so when I opened the package, I was really surprised that it was a privacy screen protector. Pictures are below. It comes with one small microfiber pad, and one screen protector:

The screen protector affects the screen color and brightness a tiny tiny bit when you look at it straight on, but one gets use to it really quickly. If you tilt the screen 35°-40° left or right along the vertical axis, you will not be able to see the screen anymore. I actually had a man comment about how he was trying to look at my phone but couldn't, even though clearly he could see me texting away. He was standing about a meter away on the train at the time.
So I guess bottom line is, if you're a girl who gets creeped on all the time by guys, you will definitely want to get this. If you want to watch porn on your cell on public transportation, get this. If you like sharing the screen with friends, you would want a maximum viewing angle, and this is definitely not for you.
this can be useful if it can be peeled off and reapply again... which is what the product cover seem to suggest?
Hmm screen protector to have bad viewing angles ! See people not everyone wants good viewing angles ( Sonyhaters)
i ordered the exact same one, got two both have dents. screen protector is not perfectly clear of bubbles. very thick and indeed very bad viewing angles (well it is called privacy protector).
Is it normal for the screen to like this after applying the screen protector? Or should it disappear after some time?

Hello all, i have myself an 02 XDA Exec, but during the light of a soft reset
the screen is now working with fault
it looks like there is some sort of high contrast or the in could be bleading on the inside, but the touch feature works, will display pictures
Notice how the screen has different shades, but also patches in the corners of the screen, as ive mentioned the touch sensetivity works fine but the screen looks to be a bit pixelated and and in a different sort of contrast (i am currently reading up on the dis-assembly of it so if its something internal please say something about it)
and no i havnt banged it, smashed it, tried beating it up etc, i honestly dont know whats happened to it.

this is my today screen after a hard reset, basic windows mobile default, look at the different tones of colouring, the sort of slashes across the screen and the shades in the corner of the screen, and im not sure why, although i dont think it really can be ink bleading as when the phone is turned off the screen is as it should be, just off.
Now i will try out the camera on both sides, from the phone and from my camera
Camera's Side
Notice how the screen is in a sort of negative/contrasted style, not one im enjoying thats for sure, but coming from the phone the results are different
Exec Camera
notice how the camera still processes the image properly
which leads me to believe something is wrong with the screen
maybe some part of the frame is being pressed against it or something like that
i will be monitoring this thread closely and please help
With Many Thanks
Exemike
Does it have this pink tint in reality too? (not only on the shots?)
If it does (and a hard reset doesn't help), then, one of the color transfer wires may be dead or have "only" developed a contact error (or, plainly, they have just been removed from their socket. This happened a lot with other models.)
That is, I'm pretty much sure it's a cheaply fixable problem. Try disassembling your casing and try to rearrange the wires.
pink/purple tint, but the screen apears in perfect shape
any guides on getting into the screen,
thanks very much.

there are several; see the "smashed my Universal screen" threads; some of them link in the official HTC disassembling guides
Overall this is really great. I ordered it the day after I got my Desire, but it took 2 weeks just for it to get into production, and then another week to ship. It comes in a bunch of colors; I chose black. The fit is perfect, and all the buttons and holes line up just right. My only complaint is that I wish it were just a bit more stretchy-snug -- It's snug, but I'd like for it to have been more snug
.
ALSO:
It did not come with a carry strap, nor anchor point for one, but I made one myself and now it is secure in my hands everywhere I go. Mission accomplished. I will add pictures of that later tonight.

What are the white things stuck on the back of the phone?

Oh sorry, I forgot to mention that.... They have nothing to do with the silicone case... They are separate stick ons called "egrips" -- which you can apply to any device and it creates a friction that prevents stuff from sliding out of your hand.

Prior to getting the silicone case in the mail, I needed to give myself some peace of mind to not let the Desire slip out of my hand. egrips are great... They makes them as strips you can apply where you like -- and they also make they as custom fits for an entire back of a phone...
I care a lot about aestehtics -- but I do not care about the back of my phone. I rank "NOT DROPPING MY PHONE" much much higher than "neat and tidy back side".
But, for the record, the egrips work great on the Desire back surface itself... But when I then applied them to the back of the silicon case, they don't adhere.
So, what do you think of the case?
Great video, thanks for the great review!
I wish everyone would review the products they bought the same way, with clean and alot of photos, detailed ones
I want to get this phone, but I've been hearing of uneven screens on the net. People have been saying the bottom of their screens are popping up. has this happened to anyone?
and also, in this picture,

Is the fact that you can see the light from the bottom of the screen mean that the screen is uneven?

some people have this issue but im not sure if its as severe as in the image...
but mine seems to have a perfect screen
I think I'm having this issue.. where have you read about this?
I'm not sure about this problem, but I noticed that mostly users with Desire S from Asia have the screen popping issue. UK Desires seem to be fine.
From Asia here but no problem with the screen. I think it's random.
No screen mounting issues here on german Desire S.
On the picture it's a reflection on the metal edge.
Hi my first post on XDA but have been skulking about.
I'm in the UK and have had my DS 3 full days perfect no floors and set up with current OS and skinned.
Though day 4 bottom corners lifting by Home and Search keys and also have the smallest gap between unibody and screen near Volume rocker and touch keys, the gap is enough to see back light coming through in the dark/dusk.
Hope this helps i have a new replacement coming first thing tomorrow will report on that with any news.
Ok so brand new replacement handset and i still have these issues the bottom right corner is already showing that it's raised in comparison to the bottom left corner and there is still a visible gap on the left of the screen can see the charge port through this and light still shining through in the right light.
Looks like bad quality control from HTC will be contacting orange in a mo as i'm still in my cooling off period. I am really disappointed Android OS is great for the customisation but this handset seem's to have been rushed in the build quality.
Hope this helps.
I have a friend with this issue.Mine it's ok.
Greece.
Duplicate post sorry.
I have had the nexus 5 for about 6 months now, and i'm starting to notice a part of the glass coming off. The area around the volume buttons to the center of the screen makes a sticking sound when pushed down on, and i can feel it pushing in a little bit. It's most noticeable on the edge directly next to the volume buttons. There are no visible cracks as far as i can tell. Phone works fine besides this. Should I be worried and replace the screen or just let it be? I don't notice it if i don't push down too hard.
Never had this happen to me on a phone before. Thanks!
That definitely shouldn't be happening.
Mind sharing a photo?

It's not very visible and pictures don't show the problem.
It feels like the glue in that area is just dried up in that area and isn't holding down the screen correctly. but its only a small area so right now its not too big of a deal.

Ask for google support, they will replace it. Mine was losing the back cover letters and google replaced it
Hi all. Wasn't sure if I should reply to this old thread or start my own...
I have a Nexus 5 that's over 2 years old. So no warranty. It looks like my screen is starting to come off in the bottom right corner. I think it's just the glass. Take a look at the attached pic/video and let me know what you think I could/should do. You can see I can move it by pressing on it.

It works fine otherwise. Touch/display etc seems all fine. I don't care about this problem if it stays as-is, but I'm worried it will get worse and come off further.
I'm thinking a bit of super glue would do? .
Thinking the same…
Some of you have heard of the flash issue with pixel/pixel xl cases, where when the flash is used, the light is reflected off the case cutout and shows up in the image. If the camera/flash were in a hump, that would allow it to extend pass the edge of the case and avoid all this. But anyway, I may have a fix.
It doesn't involve cutting the case to increase the camera opening. What we need to do is to prevent the flash from reflecting off the cutout of the case. So just take a black marker and start painting the internal edge of the cutout. I used a sharpie but perhaps an actual paint pen would be better for more opaque ink.
The case I just bought is one of these common styles:

The part that the phone actually sits in is a clear TPU part, so that makes it super reflective. I wonder if many of these issues can be solved if the internal case were simply black. So I had to blacken the edge of the outer case as well as the inner case. The inner case was harder to color because its surface is slippery and takes may layers to get the sharpie ink dark and wide enough.
Good idea for camera. That's a nice case, is it wallet with card slots?

It's this case:
https://smile.amazon.com/Feitenn-Premium-Leather-Kicstand-Magnetic/dp/B01M5JF48V
There is one slot on the cover, but I would not use it for anything other than a single business card. The pocket area is not indented so cards will cause the pocket to bulge toward the screen and push the cover far enough away to keep the closing magnet from working.
Also, the magnet in the cover serve only to keep the cover closed when in the front and when flipped to the back, but will not trigger the sleep/wake function (magnet needs to be near the bottom middle for that to work). But I specifically picked this case because it doesn't support the sleep/wake function so I can close the cover and have youtube continue to play, which won't work if the device locks. I then use another app to turn off the screen when the proximity sensor detects that the cover is closed (http://bsol.derpdeveloper.com/).
