[Q] AT&T 4.04 ICS rooted BMM to JB - Trouble free ROM? - Motorola Atrix 2

I have a rooted AT&T MB865 running official ICS 4.04 with BMM. Is there any trouble free JB ROM for this situation.
I looked & all I found were about the Asian MB865 or a CWM ROM with problems.

SlimBean Stable Build 1 (September 17, 2013) works great.
Very stable, great performance.
Look it up on XDA

Thanks for the reply, appreciated.
Though I'm looking for a JB without issues.
"Issues
-in-call volume adjust not working
-no hdmi
-other issues, etc..
----
-for wifi: reboot once (before or after setup) - or run sh /system/bin/wifical.sh from terminal or adb
-may need to add your APNs manually"

If you want something without issues you should consider one of the ICS ROMs. All of the jb ROMs will have issues. Thank Motorola for that with their stupid locked bootloader.
If I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd be making money in a very weird way.

HDMI not so much. But in-call volume & WiFi problems are deal breakers.
As far as OC I'm OC'd to 1.2GHz with No-frills CPU Control CLASSIC. Easy peasy.

None of the ROM s have any wifi issues so if thats what your worried about
Its only that when you boot for the 1st time the wifi doesnt work
after a reboot the wifi starts to work so wifi is not a issue here
and with all the new ROM s now ported to atrix 2 you should definitely try some of the new builds
use BMM and multi boot flash the one you like its really amazing plus non kexec gives good battery life
and you can run different ROM s simultaneously how can you not want that LOL

Showing my lack of knowledge here. Where are the ROMs stored after flashing? Cause right now TB is showing only 6MB free space on the 500MB System ROM (partition?). I have over 20GB free on my SD card. Thanks.

ROM zip file is stored wherever you placed it, typically on SD card.
After flashing you can delete it.
Same goes for GAPPS

It uses the data partition on the main system, or system 1. That's why a factory rest will delete all non main systems. The actual location is:
/data/clockworkmod/virtual/system_#

Unfortunately, no.
Installation
1. Flash a recovery image
2. Copy the .zip file to your MicroSD card and boot the phone into recovery mode (call+volume-up+power)
3. Choose "Flash zip from sdcard" and choose the zip you just copied.
4. Wipe data+cache before rebooting. You should wipe unless you are already on a Froyo ROM.
Swap:
To enable swap on partition 3 or partition 2 (it will check partition 3 first and if it doesn't exist it will try partition 2)
$ su
# sdswap.sh enable
$ su
# sdswap.sh disable
Compcache:
If you are using are already using a swap partition on your SD-card, then you most likely shouldn't enable compcache. But if you do not want to partition your SD-card then compcache can be a good alternative.
Read more about how Compcache works here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Compcache
Enable compcache
In a terminal or using an adb shell type this:
$ su
# compcache.sh enable
Type free to confirm you now have 32Mb swap
Disable compcache
In a terminal or using an adb shell type this:
$ su
# compcache.sh disable
Type free to confirm you now have 0Mb swap
Advanced users
Compcache size, settings and swappiness is setup in /system/bin/compcache.sh
If you are an advanced user, you'll know how to proceed from here...
Some questions before putting this on, since I'm always a noob with installing new ROMs...
1) Is this in a stable and smooth stage yet (with everything working properly) or is this still in developmental stages? What is the difference between this and cas_xp's?
2) I'm currently running The Celestial Teapot at 652mhz, will this be noticeably slower considering it doesn't have overclock (does it?). What's the deal in regards to overclocking?
3) I can install this fine (flashing it) over Kalt Kaffe's TCT ROM (replacing it with this one) or do I have to somehow get TCT off first?
Forgive me if my questions are nooby, I always prefer to overask (woohoo new word) in regards to ROMs
Whatever the case, thanks for working on this! Awesome (really) if it works perfectly, but even if not, I like seeing any development with U8100.
Unfortunately, it won't boot on huawei u8110.
I've tried to delete data/fatory reset, but it didn't help.

1)This is @cas_xp's but modded.
2)I haven't tested yet. But the previous version wasn't as laggy. I'm going to try to bring OC in. To reduce lag.
3) You should probably wipe before coming to this ROM . I should probably put a short flashing guide in.

It will take a long time to boot for the first time. It is deodexed.
I left it for 5 minutes to boot. Do I have to wait longer?
OK. I'll try one more time.
edit:
No, rom doesn't boot neither after 10 minutes. It is stuck on my Movistar initial splash screen.

[CLOSED][MOD][UPDATE][b_randon14's Triumph Tweak Mod v1.2][CLOSED]

Thread closed because I no longer own this device. The download links no longer work. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Works on the stock system and everything? If you made the stock Triumph experience that much better, Virgin Mobile owes you a debt of gratitude. Heck, I owe you a debt of gratitude!
...just let me make sure it works on my phone first.
Sent from my Frankenphone using Tapatalk
Yeah it should work. You just need to be rooted and have CWM to flash it. Other than that the stock kernel will run the install-recovery.sh script at boot, which will intern run my tweak scripts at boot and viola you have a tweaked out stock phone. In therory it should work with any stock based(no cm7/aosp) rom and kernel as long as the kernel hasn't been modified to not run intsall-recovery.sh at boot!
Yes it works on Stock, and it seems to be running faster, and smoother. Also my compass is now correct, and GPS seems to lock faster 5-8ish seeconds
Thanks! Rated 5.
Thanks! This will be the set of tweaks that my bROM will contain plus me and my brother are trying to get a kernel going. Hopefully we will have the oc up to 1900 maybe more plus were trying to get controllable undervolting for each frequency. There are alot of stuff were going to try to add to it if we can ever get it working. But its still a while down the road!
Sent from my OC'ed Triumph!
What did you change? I locked onto GPS in 2s, whereas my 2nd to last one took 256s, and the last attempt wouldn't lock at all.
yesterday my phone reported it was off the coast of Africa. I'm suing
In all serious though, have you increased the speed the system accesses the SD card? I want to know because I'm running SD Speed Increase and FasterFix, and if your mod fixes both I'll just trash them.

Just the config file for GPS. I found some various fixes. Yeah mine does that as well sometimes. I may look and see if I can fix that!

Yeah you can flash this over the stock ROM. This leaves whatever kernel you have intact so if you got the stock kernel it will leave it. But yeah this is pretty universal!

Well I couldn't ever get the noatime tweaks of autokiller to actually work. And my tcp tweaks increase the tcp buffer window even more than autokillers. And autokillers I/o tweaks only work on the cfq scheduler and none of our kernels use cfq. We have noop anticioatory and deadline. The others I'm not to sure about!

In general this is running great for me! Very smooth and speedy, and no spontaneous reboots so far.
One exception is the current free version of Titanium Backup. I can't seem to restore with it (getting parse errors). Their change log indicates recent changes for 4.3, but I guess they need more.

I'll give this a go if you do an emmc version
I got my first soft reboot. When it came back up I had a startup message:
"System UIDs are inconsistent
UIDs on the system ate inconsistent, you need to wipe your data partition or your device will be unstatble."
The only option was "I feel lucky."
Probably above problem was caused by my continuing to try to restore stuff with Titanium. Since restoring apps wouldn't work, I tried restoring only data for a couple of apps I had installed thru the Play Store or restored from Google. Titanium gave no error restoring data, but the apps in question didn't run as if they had the data.

You can likely use Nandroid Manager https://play.google.com/store/search?q=nandroid manager instead of Titanium Backup.
I'm unable to get pie controls to work and I've had a couple of screen flashes. Other than that its working great!

I was able to get the new ROM installed along with the Play Store, but it seems to be running a little less smoothly than 10.1 did, but my memories of the SD version could be a bit romanticized since I switched to the emmc version of 10.1 and that is running great.
An issue I ran into is both HBO Go and Max Go apps say they are not compatible with this version when I tried to download them from the Play Store, but I don't know if that is a Nook HD+ issue or CM 10.2 issue.

Installed and looked at it on 10.1 (on emmc). Also made a current backup of my 10.1 via its cwm. I would try restoring some apps+data on 10.2 with Nandroid Manager but my nandroid bu is 2gb. Space is limited on my SD card, and currently I can't even see internal storage when I boot 10.2 from the SD card.
Someone mentioned trouble with extended desktop pie controls, that works fine for me in 10.2.

There are probably tons of issues, as this have seen only very little testing so far.

HA! My bluetooth mouse pairs with this build! Since the kernel seems to be the same as with CM10.1, perhaps the mouse pairing problem on 10.1 lies within the inner workings of bluetooth in Android, not the kernel?

I was able to get the new ROM installed along with the Play Store, but it seems to be running a little less smoothly than 10.1 did, but my memories of the SD version could be a bit romanticized since I switched to the emmc version of 10.1 and that is running great.
An issue I ran into is both HBO Go and Max Go apps say they are not compatible with this version when I tried to download them from the Play Store, but I don't know if that is a Nook HD+ issue or CM 10.2 issue.

It's not a Nook issue but a JB 4.3 issue for HBO GO. The devs for the HBO app said they are working to get 4.3 compatibility as soon as possible.
I'm running Unofficial CM 10.2 on my N7 and some other issues were superuser root issues, which for the most part have been fixed. Also, because Google has changed the way fstab works in 4.3, there have been storage (force closes) and OTG issues. Fortunately, the excellent dev fattire has solved that issue for the N7.
Getting back to HBO GO, I use it a lot on my HD+, so I'll wait until it's compatible before updating to CM 10.2 on it.
EDIT: Some of you may want to try these 4.3 gapps, it contains the bare minimum of what you need to get the rom running. For stuff like Gmail, Google Now etc., you can just d/l from Play Store as you need it. https://mega.co.nz/#!owYEAA7L!2--5sUkqBmqXQ8d97xg3NKKrG-r5Al09rNopujQm6Dc

I am using a 64 gig sand disk ultra microSDXD UHS-l sd card for almost a day .
I haven't found anything wrong with using it .
if you could please point out for things to look for?
or maybe this version is ok to use the scan disk sd card ?

This version is for SD only! Do not try to flash over the top of your emmc CM10.1 install! It may mess it up bad. I have tried to help two users that did not read this thread carefully and messed things up.

In general this is running great for me! Very smooth and speedy, and no spontaneous reboots so far.
One exception is the current free version of Titanium Backup. I can't seem to restore with it (getting parse errors). Their change log indicates recent changes for 4.3, but I guess they need more.

My current understanding is, there are issues with superuser in 4.3. There is a beta update for superuser available (but I think it would need flashing, not simply installing, to the SD card install of CM 10.2)

It seems that CM 10.2 is running ok even though it's very new. And official CM 10.1 hasn't started building yet (CM 10.2 I assume is weeks/months away) Can we get an eMMC CM10.2 build to test/experiment with it? Thanks in advance.

[Kernel][ROM][Ovation][CM 10.1.3][emmc] "Yellow kernel"

I've spent some time trying to tweak and tune a kernel for the Nook HD+ ovation device.
This is the result so far:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/wwjq7jp1ppbohqb/cm-10.1.3-ovation_OC6.zip
It's packaged as a complete rom to avoid kernel module difficulties. The rom is completely stock minus the boot animation, kernel and kernel modules. Thanks to everyone who has made this possible.
Both the kernel and PVR module have been compiled with linaro.
The kernel has numerous performance and stability enhancements over any other kernel to date.
Great Work. Thank you very much!
Hi Jon, I upgraded to OC6 but it doesn't works so good like OC4? ( i did a clean install) i added last_kmsg may you can find why my device start rebooting again :<

I appreciate the last_kmsg. I apologize for using everyone as beta testers, but this demonstrates why it is a good idea- because I have been running OC5 for a few days without a single hiccup at all. I am actually surprised OC4 did so well for you. OC4 was also the first version to sport a new pvr module.
One thing I had been noticing before being able to compile my own pvr was that I could have one kernel play well with the stock pvr, and I could have a kernel right after that not play well with the pvr at all. This was my major motivation to be able to compile my own pvr so that it could match kernel space every time.
Ok, with that said, I compiled the pvr against OC4, and didn't bother updating it against any subsequent kernels. I probably should have known better, but it was working well enough for me.
Your error looks suspiciously like a missmatch between the pvr and kernel space. So if you want to try this update:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/qyaqt9mukrqbdvj/cm-10.1.3-ovation_OC7.zip
and let me know if it works any better. I made sure to compile the pvr to specifically match the kernel.
Also, when I compiled the pvr before, I used PLATFORM_VERSION=4.1. I used this as an excuse to try
make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=arm-linux-gnueabihf- BUILD=release TARGET_SGX=544sc PLATFORM_VERSION=4.2.2
I don't know if it makes a difference or not.
Another thing I noticed you have slightly different hardware than I do. You have elpida ram versus samsung which is what I have.
I modified samsung ram timings to be slightly faster, but the other ram types were left at stock speeds. I may eventually try to clock the elpida ram the same as I have done with samsung, that may or may not make a difference. This may affect pvr performance as well. (It seems your pvr was a little slow bringing up power a few times). Then again, it could be my pvr source (although it works flawless for me, it may be hardware differences- I dunno.
thx for fast replay man,
i will try this release and give you feedbacks.
i have the bad feeling that something is wrong with my hardware. can be the only explanation, why my device reboot so often with CM10.2, CM11 and your OC6 release :/
//EDIT
actually i had just 1 reboot after some hour OC6 using, i will try OC6 for the next 2-3 days, maybe it was just a bad accident. after that i will try your OC7
regards
//EDIT #2
OC6 Test
after 2 days more, just 2 freez-->reboots (check last_kmsg) but still better than CM 10.2 and 11 on my device

Hi Jon:
Hey, since we're asking for the moon, and since you're making THE oc kernel, any chance you can implement f2fs? I've got a Gal Tab 2 and an xda developer over there has a page about what he's done to get f2fs to work. Mostly it seems to require a .101 kernel. And he was kind to update TWRP so it would support f2fs. (I think to keep it from automatically formatting in ext4.) And he even wrote some zips to format /data, /system and /cache to f2fs.
My Tab 2 doesn't benchmark any faster but it sure is faster with f2fs. I image the HD+ would be faster too.
I'm new to flashing the Nook HD+. I was previously using the SDcard booting option for CM 10.1, but I would really like to get Nook off of this completely. Where do I start? I downloaded the ROM, and I have a boot IMG from another ROM on an SD card that takes me to recovery. Where do I put this ROM and how do I overwrite the actual Nook ROM?
install fails using verygreens internal recovery. is there a trick to installing this?
So I was able to flash the ROM, but I cannot upgrade. Everytime it tries to upgrade to 10.2 it reboots, I see the Nook logo, and then I get a Nook error screen. Does that mean I don't have the right CWM installed? If that's the case, how do I install the correct CWM?

Yes, that means you still have stock recovery installed. You need to go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and download and install the 6036 CWM from item 5 there.
Edit: but you know if you upgrade to CM10.2 you lose this kernel, right?

It depends on which verygreen internal recovery you are using. You need to have version 6036 or older to flash it. You can get one per my previous post.

I think the answer is no, when you flash cm11 the OC kernel will be overwrite. But I didn't try this.
As the thread title indicates, this kernel is only for 10.1.3.
it says there is a new update from the option -- about menu...should I?

I couldn't find a tabletUI patch to match the final cm10.1.3 stable so here's one for anyone else downgrading like me.
Here's another experimental kernel update.
http://www.mediafire.com/download/1lkesmn6si6hd1e/ovation-kernel-cm10.1.3_v5.zip
I'm using it on OC7 pvr without issue (?).
1) reduced elpida and hynix ram timings.
2) updated vivante gc320 gcx 2d composition drivers to gitorious.org/gcx staging/alexei-dev. These are significantly different from original. (FWIW Staging/master branch threw memory map bverror 2 logs, but otherwise worked fine).
3) reduced dsp carveout memory. Increased system memory.
If needed, here is just the plain kernel for OC7, should anyone wish to revert back to that for any reason. (So as to not have to flash the entire ROM).

Kernel source for OC7
http://www.mediafire.com/download/6rngvee6x471cc3/android_kernel_bn_omap-cm-10.1_v3.tar.gz
So oc7 has been very unstable for me. I started with a completely clean slate, but it's frequently rebooting and not waking up from sleep. I may remember having these same problems when I was regularly using cm10.1 last year.
I've gone back to cm10.2.1. You should consider developing your kernel for that one.
Ya'know, I make these for me first and foremost. They reflect what I'm working on, trying to fix or improve the performance of my device.
Each one is different, some have worked better than others, but I notice an overall improvement from the original kernel. It is substantially different than any other nook kernel out there and works the best for me.
Here's the last. I think it works well. Made some additional changes to mmc/sdio to try and improve stability with wl12xx.
Source (which includes the vivante driver change from before):

Flashable kernel
http://www.mediafire.com/download/c9bsziswrf7y0e4/ovation-kernel-cm10.1.3_v6.zip
I like 10.3.1 but it has two downsides. 1) No automatic TRIM. 2) Unsafe manual TRIM because of Samsung MAG2GA EMMC bug.
Is it possible to implement the workaround used for 10.2.1 and later? Then manual TRIM by using console "fstrim" should be safe.

I assume the source for the 10.2.1 kernel would have the ported patch.

[ROM] CM13 LG G3 AT&T D850 daily ROM issues

The changes to fix the GPS and SD problems, formerly pending at CyanogenMod, have now been merged with the base code. I will keep new relatively current builds for CM13 d850 posted, with links here, until CyanogenMod starts posting official nightly builds. The builds I post may or may not include unreviewed pending changes to the CM base code as seems fit.
(if you elect to follow me on the above link you will be automatically notified when I post updates...)
UPDATE – SD card fix, too – see below
As of yesterday (2015 Dec 29) there are fixes in the works at CyanogenMod for the GPS problems on LG G3 with CM13 (Marshmallow, 6.0.1). These fixes are in code review and are not yet merged, so if you just git the current code you won't get them. To get them, see change IDs If1d1772952a303b9378579e22c8248805cc191a5 and Iab2c5df90c59b34e33450a7d400cf73c4bef5fa4 at review.cyanogenmod.org and the change to the recommended vendor blobs at TheMuppets on github.com, change ID Iaae7dc3d8bd4aae5e6deb1ee248554217a0adae8.
I did a scratch build for my d850 overnight and GPS works GREAT! For those of you who are too impatient to wait for the reviewed and merged code, here is a ROM image to try. This is as experimental a ROM image as you will find. Use it at your own risk. If you do, make sure to first manually wipe system, dalvik, and cache; then flash the ROM image and an Android 6 compatible version of gapps at the same time.

Update: minutes before 2016/01/01
I have included in this update code that is in review at CyanogenMod to fix the exFAT formatted SD problem. That is change ID I6e9bb732eee110ba75f680ea964538712bc33979. This code permits the use of a 128GB SDXC exFAT format card as external storage. I have not so far tested this code for using the card as internal storage. Maybe somebody with a similar card would like to test it in that mode. Here's the ROM image.

Works great, thank you!
Downloading now. What about SD cards? Are you able to format as internal storage? The CM13 builds I've tried get stuck at 20%.
well this is a GPS fix so it's probably not going to increase your megapixel count or make your downloads faster. or fix your SD card.

So tell me this .. How's your battery life ? do you think this affects our battery life ?
Just wanted to say thanks to the dev for making this rom. I haven't tested everything, but for my normal day-to-day use it has been absolutely rock solid. No problems doing a clean install of the 1/18 build, and totally smooth dirty flash to the 1/22 build (I haven't checked whether there's an update since). Battery life, including screen-on time, has been great- big step up from the 5.1 rom I had been using. Seems to keep running smoothly even when the phone gets hot. Well done.

Root is included in CM. Go to Settings -> Developer Options -> Root Access
If you don't have "Developer Options" then go to Settings -> About Phone and touch "Build Number" 6 times quickly and it will unlock the Developer Options.
