Nandroid - Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G

So I've just flashed LiquidSmooth JB 4.1.2 and I'm wanting to restore a select couple of apps with Nandroid Manager (this crashed my system on the first attempt to flash liquid) The apps I want to restore are associated with my previous ROM, CM10, and I'm wondering if restoring them will conflict with my current ROM.

Its normally not recommended to advance restore any data between different roms. It can cause issues and makes bug reports kinda useless, especially for app related issues.

[Q] CWM didn't backup apps/user data?

This is the 2nd time I've run into a problem with CWM (first time was a checksum error but found a fix for it.)
Was running a rom (eagleblood) and decided to do a backup in clockwork before flashing a different rom (bionix.) Backup completed, factory reset/wiped everything, flashed rom, and after booting in realized I had google auth and another authenticator app set up on the old rom. Went back into CWM to restore what I just backed up and account info/apps/media files are gone. Luckily, I have an older backup from September that I can use to get to my authenticator apps but unfortunately still have lost what was added to my phone recently.
Question: Is my backup completely fubar? Has anyone run into something similar that could point me to a fix? I still have access to the backups.

Are you using Titanium Backup for backing up your apps/data? You might wanna look into that, its an easy great app.
I have no recent titanium backups. This is a nandroid backup that didn't backup. First I've ever seen.

That sucks man, I always batch a Titanium Backup to dropbox before thinking about a nand backup. It is a great precaution for the amount of tinkering we all do.
Titanium backup does boot/system/cache/etc. ?

No, it does user apps, system apps, and all their data. Titanium Backup is a must have app for rom flashers. A nandroid is okay to keep for emergencies, but for your apps and data, Titanium Backup is a must.

so do I just have to accept that bad nandroid backups happen?

[Q] How to backup/restore in new ROM

I just recently installed an official cyanogen mod for my phone and I wanted to restore my system, files, everything.
Don't get me wrong though.. I tried using Nandroid Backups I back it up before flashing, installed the rom properly after flashing.
My problem is, what should I use in restoring my system files without reverting back to my old rom?
Thanks.

I do not understand you. Make a backup in CWM and then when you want to restore the ROM, in CWM make a restore.

Okay imagine this.. My current rom is cyanogen by tj styles and i wanted to use the official cyanogen rom.
So what I did, I backed up my files using CWM and tried to flash another rom (official cyanogen) . When I did successfully, I tried restore using CWM and after that.. I'm only back to my old rom. (cyanogen by tjstyles)
So my question is, how can i switch to a new ROM without losing my files?

Only system apps will give fc if you restore them + their data...
On most roms, normal apps will not give fc...
They fc the most if the rom has some memory hack implemented...

CWM backups on 4.2.1

Was curious if backups work as they did prior to the new 4.2.1? Has anyone successful done them using rom manager?
Reading in rom manager it says backups can be pulled with ADB or use rom manager backup utility. Wasn't sure if this is a new feature or there's a problem with restoring them like we use to. Thanks community!

Installing different roms question

So I finally did my first rom today and now I want to try others. My question is if I download a different rom to my card then flash it, is this okay or do I need to remove my current rom. Also I use nova prime, so when I flash new roms and then restore from back through nova will I be able to get my set up back with all my apps? I just don't want to have to reorganize my pages and redownload all my apps again.
Thanks in advance.
So, I'm running clean rom, what are some others you recommend that are completely stable?

The process of flashing a new rom removes everything you currently have set up. In recovery, you'll perform a factory reset and system wipe which will remove your current rom, apps, data. Before flashing a new rom, backup all your user app/game data using apps like Titanium Backup or Carbon. As for Nova Prime, it only backs up your homescreen layout so restore this after restoring apps.
Perform a nandroid backup in recovery before flashing a new rom! I don't do recommendations, I always suggest you try everything.

I restored only data using cwm recovery advanced restore on MIUI ROM 4.1.X.( android version 4.2.2)
After restoring everything was Force closing....
The data was of AOSP Rom 4.2.1.
Any solution?

Hi Bro, I've switched to various ROM's of different bases (4.2 or 4.1) numerous times and will tell you how to restore your data.
Take a Nandroid backup. After installing your new ROM, Restore your apps, games from Titanium Backup using 'Extract from Nandroid Backup' Option. I'm using this method and there are no FC's whatsoever.
Just make sure you don't restore any system app or data because it will most probably create a soft brick or bootloop issue.
