Mail app sans exchange security / admin settings ? - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Themes and Apps

Love this device. Just need to get on my exchange account without giving the IT guys at work all those rights to my device.
They' re using exchange 07 and upgrading to 10 in a few weeks.
Thanks

You need to go with an app like Touchdown then...unless you do some major fiddling around. I think a global search on XDA will come up with some hits to a "native Android" mail app to get around Exchange servers security requirements. Touchdown is much easier...

As one of those IT guys, chances are it matters little to them.
Touchdown works well. If y'all are cloud based then AFAIK your IT dept might well have little control over the config. Native box on site, more local admin control. But keep in mind, Exchange 2K7/2K10 can get squirrely when a device other than MS connects. Apps like Touchdown do help smooth the road a bit. You may want to sit down with your IT people.....get 'em a coffee...and see what can be worked out.

Thanks for posting about this! I'd never heard of it but now I'm very excited. I just applied for the beta. I'm wondering if walking down to their office tomorrow and begging in person will get my invite any faster! Should I do it?!
i find a conflict in one of the founders of Microsoft spending $20 million for software for a competing platform.
why not develop Kiha for Microsoft if he believes in the product so much?
i'd be afraid of getting the app and have it dumb down my phone or in some way make it so we want to change over to Microsoft of something....it's a conspiracy i tell you
Koush works for kiha. He was heavily involved in this project.

So I finally received my invite...problem is the app wont log me in. I can log into the website but not the app...betas....what can you do?

I would contact their tech support, I'm sure there is a way to report bugs since it is a beta.

So I received there invite to the beta last night and I was very excited about it. Until I started filling out the info etc and started seeing how they collected all my data of all the sites I visit on my PC and phone (um nooo thanks). And something to the effect that them and 3rd parties can look at my emails and passwords, basically stalk me!! And as I kept reading I started getting more freaked out like WTF for real?? And then I decided not to go further or use it! The real kicker was when they told me that after the beta is over that I should change my emails password?!!?!?!?!? HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLZ NO, NOT USING THIS BS!!!
I'm sticking to what I've been using which is Gmail and AOL mail... I've good thus far and I'm sure I'll continue to do so from this point on lol
I really don't advise anyone to use this crap, I mean by all means you can If you don't mind handing over all your info etc- Just read all they ask for and then tell me if you start to feel bothered!!??

360 live app gone!

So I paid for the app among how many thousands of other ppl and Microsoft decides it wont allow 3rd party apps to gain access to an account that we the gamer/consumer pay for and google does nothing but pull the app or apps from the market and issues no refunds what the heck is that about ...its not about the money its about the poor business practices and the lack of protection of the consumer

Yea well that's not gonna ever happen and im tellin ya what everytime they pull crap like this makes me wanna sell my 360 and get a ps3
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Yea well deal with it. I can't understand why you need access to your gamertag on your phone if you can't play games.

I use an app called XBOX Live Statistics. It's nice because I can see if my friends are online or not, and I can send them XBL messages from my phone. It's a little slow, but worth the load time.
Its the fact all of us who paid for an app can now no longer use it and we got no refund from the dev or google but everyone will cry like babies about pirated software and protecting their work well im saying what's protecting our (the consumer) money.

I have paid for both apps and now I wont get updates to any of them... Nor will I get a refund for either of them. I dunno who I am displeased with more Microsoft, Google, or the app Devs
I also payed for this app... I got a bit pissed off when I noticed it wasn't available anymore

Absolutely not the devs or Google. Microsoft is at fault here. They disabled access and there was nothing anyone could do about it. Google could have given you the money back but you shouldn't be mad at them.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
I didn't even know about this. I have xbox live statistics. Is the app no longer working? I haven't checked it in a day or so, but have a widget that treks me if I have any messages or how many of my friends are online. This is a real bummer and I hope the consumers show enough outrage that they allow access once again. This affecting other mobile platforms as well?

Yup that's exactly why these apps are useful. No need to keep booting up the Xbox or load the bloated website.
Removing access is not cool at all.
Buy a ps4 like iam going to I was a big xbox fan and I still like my 360 and xbox1 but after 4 POS 360s I will not buy the next xbox! And I did not buy win7 becuz M$ riped us 360 owners off with defetive ****y hardware! M$ really Sucks it all started after Bill gates left

well if they keep screwing with the servers to make it an "even playing field" im done with them I mean its not my.problem if the next guy has a slow connection its not fair to those of us that pay top dollar for high speed internet just to be drug down to their level atleast playstation network is free

They only pulled it because it cost money. Had it been free it would have stayed. That's their policy on the iPhone app store thus I assume the same thing here

Best email app?

I am a concert from the iphone and I am used to emails autofitting the screen. On this phone neither the gmail not the notice email app does that. I hate scrolling left and right when an email has an image or text that is not in simple format.
Anyone know an email app as good as the iphone native one. Presentation wise.

Havent tried these, but they may fit the bill as to what you're looking for:
MailDroid
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maildroid
InoMail
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.inoguru.email

Not quite sure if it's visually the same as the iPhone App but K-9 Mail is simply the absolute best in my opinion and rock solid. Not only does it resize for you but you can also get rid of that annoying conversation view in Gmail.
I looked at the first two suggestions and not like them. Will try K9 next.

Seems non that I have found can handle mail like the iphone. Search continues.

Enhanced Email

Two good ones.
Not as simple as the iphone mail, but if you want to connect to exchange and get the most use out of it, Moxier Mail is the best one I've used. You can sync calendar, conacts, todo items. It's also the most expensive at 20$ but it was worth it to me.
Before I found the 'GoogleEmail' Exchange updated apk's, I bought Enhanced Email, which worked fine because it was light years better than the stock Samsung email client, but since using the Google version, I have not reinstalled Enhanced Email. Just my $.02

I'm still using Gmail. Is it worth switching to something like enhanced email (got it for free from an amazon app of the day) or the ICS email client? What does it offer? I

To be honest, I haven't found a single email app for exchange that is anywhere as elegant as the stock iPhone mail app. Love or hate the iPhone, the stock mail app is honestly a brilliant piece of software.

I've tried them all, none of them have left me very happy compared to the iPhone mail app. Touchdown wasn't too bad, but the idea of paying $20 for something not as good as stock on my previous phone was a serious turn-off.
Well I guess the search continues huh? I realize I'm not the norm, but I find Gmail to work just fine, except with certain attachments.

Best Mailbox Alternative for Android?

I recently discovered this app called Boomerang and it seems a pretty close alternative to the OVERHYPED Mailbox app for iPhone.
Have any of you guys tried the boomerang app? Is it as good as Mailbox? Does it deserve more hype?
Learn more about the Boomerang app here:

Looks promising only drawback for me is it doesn't have support for exchange yet.

Well it is Gmail only for now but I expect support for other mail services and exchange is coming soon.
K9 Mail is great. I have been using it for some time now and don't have any problems with it. It supports multiple accounts and also has a unified inbox which is really useful.

not the Apple Mail app, but the Mailbox app
i use gmail, i also have a yahoo mail account that i sometimes use, but their app is not as good as gmail
(i tend to use official apps, not apps from third party)
Having come from iOS, this is one of the few apps I miss. This and Sunrise. Apparently there is a version in the works for Android. I don't get why people are so lazy with android apps? Are they much harder to create or something?
I've been using K9 mail ever since I began using android devices and it has never steered me wrong. I am able to manager 3 gmail accounts and 1 hotmail account flawlessly.

Email exchange with no security?

I hate hate hate unlocking my phone every single time I need to use it...I have exchange because of work and came from an S4 with no exchange security but have not been able to figure it out with this device.
A lot of good things about this phone and a lot of little things I frown upon and makes me re consider since I'm still in my 14 day window.
Sent from my XT1080 using xda app-developers app
Not quite sure what you are asking... Are you asking if the phone would auto unlock or your Microsoft exchange email server to have security turned on?
When I set up exchange though the email app for work it requires a pin to unlock the phone for security reasons. With my S4 I was able to bypass being that it was rooted and running a rom but I can't figure it out with this phone.

Awesome I'll give it a go once I get the recovery installed...I just have root right now.

It's going to be tough to flash the exchange hack posted above on a device with a locked bootloader.
Try Enhanced Email or Touchdown - both allow you to bypass exchange server enforced security.

Yeah and from reading its not for stock Roms its for custom so I didn't bother flashing.
I would try them but aren't both paid apps? I'm definitely not trying to spend money for something towards my job lol

As far as I know there is no free app to offer than functionality. I bought Enhanced Email years and years ago. $20 over a year or years really not that much money if the PIN bugs you that much.
