[Q] Random Reboots only on CleanRom 7.1 - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hello, I installed Clean Rom 7.1 on 9/11 and I love it, it is nice fast and smooth. My only problem is that around every 3-7 hours my phone reboots with out warning. I am s-off, on hboot 2.14 and have twrp 2.6. Any thoughts?

you might want to use the suggestion in the op to use the 2.15 firmware.

Yeah, update your firmware as per the suggestion in the ROM thread.

Cannot say I ever saw this problem on CR 7.1! Too lazy to upgrade to 7.2 as the features are not that great. 7.1 is stable enough for me to use... Forever!
P.S. - I am not even S-OFF!

You're talking about of CR 7.2 where is this upgrade? Or is the same as CR 7.0 R2

Should I see a 4G icon instead of H signal bars. This happened after update the TWRP recovery to 2.6.3 I went back to change but stay the same. How I can change it again?

It has nothing to do with your recovery. Those icons are governed by your ROM, which ROM are you on?
Sent from my Evita

I have CleanRom 7.0P1 and Yeah, I think the same but everything happened after update recovery reboot and appeared H signal

On at&t ROMs the 4g icon means you have H+ type signal, and 4g LTE means you have LTE signal. It's stupid, I know, because H+ is not in any way considered to be 4g but it's at&t doing what they do best and branding something incorrectly (at&t One X, anyone?). All sets of signal icons are actually present in every ROM though, there are (mostly) unknown factors which cause certain sets of icons to be active on certain ROMs and in certain situations. For some reason the American set of icons have become activated on your device. I thought that those icons were standard on Cleanrom though, I could have sworn they were present when I flashed it a while ago.

ive looked and cant seem to find a flashable zip of the most recent tmo firmware. i found a nandroid but wifi didnt work. if someone knows where one is or can post one id appreciate it.
It's not going to work for you regardless. There is firmware you need included in update for Wi-Fi to work on that build.

very sad too cus my phone blows now.
2.21 runs great with awesome data speeds. I was on that for weeks till yesterday, giving this 2.35 a test drive. 2.31 gave me random reboots.

Hmm. So I was having even worse data/wifi issues after updating. Like I said the speed test app wouldn't work, wifi calling wouldn't work. So I found the newest ruu which is posted here in the [email protected] section, like 2.85 or whatever. Ran the ruu and I'm having zero issues. Something with taking the updates ota didn't agree with my phone. If you're having issues after the ota I'd suggest just running the ruu. Seems flawless now.

[Q] Does anyone have the black T-Mobile One S? What's the hboot version?

So I was considering selling my Silver/Blue gradient T-Mobile One S to purchase a Black T-Mobile MOA One S and I got to thinking...
Does anyone have this new official T-Mobile Black One S? Not a modified gradient version or an International version being used on T-Mobile.
I'm curious.. What is the hboot version on this new T-Mobile MOA Black One S? I currently have the 1.09 hboot on my gradient blue and I can flash radio/boot from recovery.
I'm assuming this new version of the One S is going to have the 1.14 or higher hboot but I'd still like to find out from someone who actually has the device.

I'm with you on that and well too be honest even on hboot .14 I don't miss it being lower, thanks to programs like Flash Image Gui flashing kernels and recoveries besides not downgrading radio I'm really not missing out on much. People seem to get stuck up on this for some bizarre reason.

hox on tmobile, which radio?

This is for all the people using the hox on tmobile. Which radio have you guys tried using? ive seen a couple post about using the htc one s radio but I cant seem to find an answer to which radio or exactly how to install it. I already have a general idea on how to flash a new radio but this is a little different and just looking for some info from people that have already flashed a HOS radio onto a HOX.
I just want to get the best speed off tmobile. I've been doing speed tests next to a galaxy s3 on tmobile and it has been getting a lot better speed than I can even though we are both on HSPA+.
This is the radio I use I get LTE and great speeds. You can find that radio and more options in the Radio thread under android development.

I'm guessing you are using a sense base rom from the radio you are using. Is that correct? Wait....I just check to see what radio I'm using and it is (0.24p.32.09.06_10.130.32.34L) which is for flashing on sense base, but I'm using liquidsmooth rom which is AOSP. I'm so confused as to what radio I can or cannot actually flash. If I can flash the radio that you linked, do I have to flash the RIL as well? Sorry for all the questions. I always seem to get confused about flashing radios.
And to make things worst, we're using a phone meant for ATT on tmobile flashing radio that are meant for ATT.

Can't say anything about the T-Mobile radio, but I can say this much:
Sense radios should work fine on AOSP ROMs. They might just not yield the best reception or battery life. But I don't think AOSP radios will work on Sense ROMs (not sure on this).
I just got this phone and am also using T-Mobile with straight talk. Just changed the APN settings and I do get 3G and HSPA on T-Mobile. I am going to try it out for a few days around here( Dallas). If I don't like it I will simply use a straight talk sim.

Yep same thing here. I am on T-Mobile but no 4g. More or less happened when I upgraded to the new Hboot 2.15. I have since downgraded with a RUU file. And installed newest venom Rom. But I can't connect faster than EDGE. I have read on the T-Mobile forums that people had this problem when upgrading to jellybean. It is a known problem, butan I wish there was a fix. It sucks.

Maybe I am missing something but the fix for "stuck on Edge" and not getting 4G is not there at the link you posted above.
to the OP of this thread - yes, this seems to be a known problem. I too lost my 4G when I upgraded from Stock (on my TMO HTC ONE S) to custom roms (4.1.2) - no matter what I did, I was never able to get 4g working. .. wish there was a fix for this but there isn't.....
Now.. I know that a different radio (not the one on my phone) gives you 4G - the trick is to find a flash for this particular radio and also (someone corrects me if i am wrong) but you gotta be S-OFF if you want to flash radio - I am not S-OFF so even if I find this radio (version : RADIO-1.11t.50.02.22) I won't be able to flash it... sucks...
Anyone knows / can post a link to where we can get this radio : RADIO-1.11t.50.02.22 ...

i've been messing around with roms trying to see if there was any different results to my network going to sleep and all my roms do the same thing. When i lock my screen ten minutes later i get a X through my cell network as if it was disconnected and it is. Doubt it, its never done this when i was using stock rom past few days been using custom roms and it started doing this right away. Thinking maybe i used tool/s intended for the xl to unlock my phone, or its some where in the software thats bugged out cause i did some thing wrong. I tried to flash that kernel with both roms i am using and it errors and won't go through, also the firmware aka hboot is 2.14 i believe on my device for the life of me can't find a download of a hboot for my device. Found a thread stating i need my cid to lookup proper firmware for my device but isn't my cid all 1s now from being unlocked? Any way i saw yet another post that said to turn my data connection off and on then turn data roaming on then back off, followed by a reboot this actually seemed to fix my cell network dropping but!!!.... lol now my wifi won't enable and the wifi is marked with "ERROR" i'm going nuts maybe i screwed all this up by originally not having S-OFF or some thing.
Oh and i tried the fix wifi app recommended here in the forums and the app can't start the wifi just says its stuck.

So if i manage to turn S-OFF i should be able to flash beastmode? Not sure why the tool i have didn't work for the S-OFF function.
Beastmode is OK for S On devices. It should fix the problems you mentioned.
It sounds like you have lots of reading to do. In general, you shouldn't rely on tools and one click methods. Know the processes that they are actually performing.

Thread cleaned and let's stay on topic from here thanks guys
No. Contact HTC for a sim card tray. That's exactly what it sounds like. I got mine and never lost connection again. But I do haft a say that u do need a good kernel when it comes viper xl ROM.
Chris B.
While that is true in some cases of signal problems, it isn't in this case. Changing the SIM tray won't stop the problem from happening as this isn't a physical problem. The phone is shutting down the cell connection when it's in sleep mode and is unable to initiate a connection again when it's woken. This is a case of mismatched firmware that's common on every single Sense 5 Android 4.2.2 ROM. The solution is to upgrade to the firmware package (2.15) that was shipped with the Sense 5 update and was supposed to be used in conjunction with the ROM for proper operation. Another option is to flash the Beastmode kernel. Please make sure you're giving the right advice.
Sent from my Evita
Its not a matter of"advice" the sim card tray Is a known issue with the one x. It was a suggestion...not advice. Lol. I figured that hed like to be made aware of the tray issue. I already know Abiut the kernel, and yes that was a fix. Just thought i would share the info!
Sent from my Desire HD using xda app-developers app
Yeah ok, but my point was that in this case it's irrelevant because that isn't the cause of the problems. In fairness your first word was "no", in order to disagree with the previous correct solutions that were given.
The SIM tray isn't "exactly what it sounds like" at all. You hadn't considered the fact that the signal is lost during periods where the phone is sleeping. If it was the SIM tray that was the problem the phone would be losing signal at any random time, not confined to sleep periods.
I'm all for sharing fixes and advice, but the fix you mentioned is completely irrelevant to the problem that this thread is discussing. Imagine the OP decides to take your advice instead of the correct advice: he contacts HTC, waits a week or two for a SIM tray, gets it, pops it in, and hey what do you know it's still losing signal during sleep periods. That's a week or two of having to put up with signal losses because someone shared a fix that wasn't relevant to his actual problem. Yes the symptoms are similar (generally speaking), but when you look harder at it the diagnosis is entirely different and therefore the solution is entirely different. I'm not trying to sound harsh, but this is after all a forum dedicated to helping people by giving them the correct fix to their problem.

That seems like a ridiculous distinction to say the least.
Its pretty clear (as timmaaa suggests) that if the problem arises after flashing a Sense 5 ROM, and wasn't present before; then its a result of the Sense 5 sleep function and radio incompatibility (fixed with 2.15 firmware of Beastmode kernel).
So if i have TWRP 2.6 and S-ON is not a issue for flashing beastmode kernel how come it fails during flash?
WinDroid HTC One XL Toolkit 1.1 wants me to flash stock ruu as part of S-OFF process.
Below is what i believe to be the stock rom for the AT&T One X got the link from you guys at XDA
OTA_EVITA_UL_JB_45_S_Cingular_US_3.18.502.6_0.24p.32.09.06_10.130.32.34_release_3061616bcty3drvawwo01k.zip
Oh and what version of beastmode should i be using i have 3.0 and 3.5 reloaded and i can't find any install instructions to tell me if it has its own installer or i can use TWRP
The most important thing I have to say right now is do not run the RUU yet! If you have SuperCID (which I'm guessing you do) you will definitely brick your phone, we don't want that. There's a bug with the jb RUU that causes it to fail halfway through when it sees you have SuperCID, basically SuperCID + s-on + jb RUU = brick. So check your CID first using this fastboot command:
Code:
fastboot oem readied
If it comes back as 11111111 or 22222222 you have SuperCID. Post the result here anyway.
At this point your best and easiest option is just to get s-off so you can update to the 2.15 firmware package. The Beastmode kernel is s-on friendly but plenty of folks have had trouble installing it. There are two s-off methods for our device, Facepalm and Rumrunner. I'd suggest you try the Rumrunner method, it's brand new and I haven't personally tried it because I'm already s-off but it looks like a piece of cake to get done. Facepalm can be a bit tricky. You'll find a thread started by me in our general section for the Rumrunner s-off method. Once you have s-off you can update your firmware and you should have zero issues with Sense 5 ROMs after that. It also means you can run the jb RUU without bricking, SuperCID + s-off + jb RUU = no worries. Plus you no longer need to flash the boot.img from a ROM/kernel with fastboot and you have s-off. There are other advantages to having s-off but those are the main ones.

Do people not bother reading through the thread (at least the last few pages) for things they flash anymore? I do this before flashing just about anything, as it gives a good indicator of what issues others may have had, and the solutions.
This is a somewhat known/common issue. Apparently the solution is to flash Beastmode 2 first, than 3/3.5.
Don't use the Windroid toolkit, as I stated above you'll brick if you RUU, plus you definitely do not need to run an RUU to get s-off. I'm not sure why it's asking you to do that. Those toolkits are nice and easy and all that but in my opinion they're bad news. They allow users to get things done very easily, but the problem is they completely remove the learning aspect of the whole procedure. Trust me, it's better to learn how to do this manually with fastboot and adb, you gain a much better understanding of Android by doing things manually, and the day will come when you need that knowledge to recover from some mishap.
