[help] wifi eror - HTC Sensation

I have hboot 1.29, device-XE, rom-viper 1.6.3. recovery-4ext, s-on. My wifi doesnt work. And stuck in "turning on".
How can I fix it?
edit: I read in the internet that I need Wifi module zip. how can I find it?

Have you flashed boot.img via fastboot already?
I guess trying that wouldn't damage your phone either.
(I had this wi-fi problem with ViperS 3.1.x, but flashing kernel fixed it.)

Aaaand??
Does it work now?
Btw try using the search, there are lots of threads of wi-fi problems, maybe you'll find solution that way, if flashing boot.img didn't do the trick.

I tried all the solutions and it still wont work. I have already read all the threads and did that they suggest but it not work for me.
I have XE,
hboot 1.29,
rom: vipers 3.1.2
Sebastian 1.0.2 JB kernel.
When I change my rom to cm10.2 the wifi works. So in my opinion it is something with the sense kernels or roms. Because in all sense 4.1 and 4+ roms the wifi don't work for me.

Did you flash a different kernel then the stock kernel that's in the rom?
First thing. Make sure you flash the firware upgrade PD58IMG.zip from bootloader. ICS firmware thread is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618
that put your phone on the latest radio. then flash rom, that usually fixes the problem. I dont think the phone will boot with a different kernel flashed as there are no ICS custome kernels yet.

Upgrade to firmware 3.33.xxx.xx ......there is a similar post like this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529941
Its a wonderful sense based ROM....try this and see. If not, run the RUU all over again, download PG58IMG.zip....put it in SD card and then on the bootloader screen it will prompt for confirmation...yes...and apply it :good:

Same issue
I had the same issue with my sensation. I reflashed everything. I Flashed arhd 6.7. With beats and it works quite well now only issue so far is mobile Internet Speed. I'm reading through all the forums because usually every issue has been addressed and solved somewhere on this website. This is one heck of a Site. I'm going to try to do my part the best I can
I got the same issue that indresh88 said in the first post.
And i've also tried the fix that Echo237 suggested.
So.. i'm now with fw 3.33 with stock ICS rom and i've also flashed the root and tried wifix manager from the market.
Nothing is working. WiFi won't turn on, just remain with the message "Activating Wi-Fi..."
Any idea about what i can do?
try going back to stock again by using flashing a different ruu I have 3.32 and its with sense 3.6 it my work for you at this point its worth a try and keep it on stock for a while and monitor the WiFi but before you flash the ruu make sue you relock your device and then fastboot OEM writesecureflag 3

what the oem writesecureflag 3 does? and as ruu you mean the .exe that i download from filefactory? if yes, i've already tried every f****n' ruu compatibile with my sensation both gb and ics.
This was a previous thread that i opened and worked till a couple of reboots, then stopped working. i've tried that procedure again but still not working
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743098
Man don't give up what is needed is the steps you went through before flashing the ruu and after I my self have downloaded 5 ruu's and I was only able to flash two out 5 but I figured out how to do it and I manage to flash the old ruu that comes stock with the hboot 1.17 and then I s off via alpharevolutionary installed 4ext custom recovery installed super su and then did a back up and then upgradeed my hboot to 1.27 and then up graded my firmware to 3.33 then flashed my new custom Rom done and set running smooth as silk and no reboot's or shut down's

Okay this is not what you want to...keep this as a last option but, if nothing works out...go to the HTC customer care...I'm pretty sure Surat has !
I had gone to the customer care when I had this problem and didn't want to root then but I rooted eventually which solved the problem as they kept saying "kaale aavjo, today our server is down so couldn't download the firmware"....the guys won't ask for money. But just say that this happened only after ics don't circle around.

Make a nandroid backup, and flash a FAUX KERNEL
Install the same way as a ROM.

Also tried that. Went completely stock and still no luck. Tried everything that comes to mind. Custom kernels, hboots, roms etc. There was one method that made it work temporarily. And can't remember what it was. After the phone rebooted wifi was gone again. So I'm sure it's not a hardware issue cuz it worked for a brief period of time.

Its Ubuntu haha.. Pretty awesome setup I use 12.04... If you decide to use it, install
64bit just in case you decide to try building from source.... I agree with the above answer as well.. You can not flash an ruu that is below your hboot.. The partitions will go through the motion of flashing but will not actually flash no matter how you try.. I've tried all three ways...to include flash image GUI and HTC dumlock...hope this helps

Energy rom, CM10, and paradroid (whatever it called)
but they are not a good rom for me..
I am in the same situation as you, because of there are not many roms for this garbage phone..
I am trying to selling it and get a popular phone which are easier to flash custom roms.
PS: HTC always make stupid phones, no wonder the company is going bankrupt.
Its funny how I have no issues whatsoever with my hboot 1.14.
Easier to flash custom roms? I flash roms the same way on all my devices - in recovery. The only difference with the S is i have to spend 5sec on typing "fastboot flash boot boot.img" before first boot up. Yea, hard stuff that
And... why did you buy it if you think htc only makes stupid phones? Makes no sense to me...

Most wifi issues revolve around t-mobile phones I believe. It often relates to the 2.35 update. Others did not have these issues.
You can also solve via superCID and flash another RUU (that has a similar level of bootloader).
But yes, a bootloader downgrade will solve this, since then you can flash other wifi partitions (even the Jelly Bean ones).
Alternatively you can wait for the OTA upgrade to Jellybean.

Broken WiFi / Bluetooth / Roms won't boot.

Hi, I've searched for an answer to this but I can't find it. My fiance's one xl is seriously playing up. Some background: it's on hboot 1.09 and s-on. She's been using Viper since we rooted it.
A couple months back (possibly after moving to JB) her Wi-Fi was unable to find networks, or when it could find them it was unable to connect to networks. Ok so she dealt with that. Recently I thought I'd flash a different ROM to see if it would make a difference, so we flashed a recent version of AOKP (build 4). This booted fine but the WiFi just kept saying it was turning on but never actually turned on. So we thought we'd flash back to Viper. Full wipes were done while moving between ROMs by the way. Anyway viper just constantly bootloops no matter what we try now, so we can't use that. So we flashed back to AOKP and now neither Wi-Fi or Bluetooth work. Bluetooth at least turns on sometimes but it can't find other devices and other devices can't find it.
So yeah, no viper, no Bluetooth, no Wi-Fi, very frustrated fiance!
I've been reading the last couple days and just can't find what's wrong, does anyone have any idea? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On ViperXL, boot.img should flash in AROMA, even with hboot 1.14. Although it doesn't always work, so if it bootloops, then OP should flash boot.img using fastboot or Flash Image GUI.
Agree, sounds like it can be a ROM-kernel mismatch.
That's what happened to me when I flashed to the new CM to take it for a test drive. When I flashed back to Viper I went straight to bootloop. Forgot to flash the boot image. Aroma usually works for me but it has problems when going from aokp to sense.

Wow so I've done pretty much everything I can to get this phone working ok. S-off, RUU: phone still bootloops when booting Sense ROMs, even the RUU bootlooped. Sometimes it makes it into the ROM after several loops but it just crashes and starts all over again. Phone boots aosp ROMs perfectly fine, but WiFi and Bluetooth don't work still. I'm at a complete loss.

Yeah it sure does. What's got me stumped is the fact that it boots aosp fine and runs fine apart from Bluetooth and WiFi. But sense ROMs loop like crazy, but sometimes boot into the OS before looping again. Eh I dunno.

Hey Exad, I wonder if this might be a kernel issue. We tried booting the latest CM10.1 and it's having the same boot problems. So maybe it's a 3.4 kernel issue, what are your thoughts?
Sent from my EVITA using xda premium
Its unlikely.. you're on the latest hboot right?
I mean.. If it was an issue with the 3.4 kernel, I imagine issues would be way more widespread.
It would be possible to have issues with a 3.4 kernel on an older hboot.. but otherwise I just don't see how.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Yeah we RUU'd her phone to 3.18 so it's fully up to date. The thing that made me think kernel/boot.img was that every non 3.4 aosp ROM runs ok, apart from Bluetooth and WiFi. Which I guess is a hardware issue.
I thought maybe there's something within 3.4 kernel that won't let the phone operate properly with that specific hardware problem. But something within <3.4 kernels that lets the phone operate, just without Bluetooth and WiFi working.
Sent from my EVITA using xda premium
Yes, THAT theory is possible though no software will have things running 100%. I'm sure you knew that already.
