Hi there guys! Since I still don't have permission yet to post on Windows 8 Development and Hacking, I will just share it here. Have you ever wanted to play movies on your desktop background and use it as an animated wallpaper? Back in Windows Vista, it has a default application called Dreamscene that let's you do this kind of thing. In Windows 7, Push Entertainment developed Dreamscene, a paid application to retain that feature introduced in Vista. Push Entertainment continued developing Dreamscene compatible with Windows 8 and another paid application called Deskscapes 8 developed by Stardock. For those who want it free (which I know a lot of you do), Let me introduce this freeware called Desktop Movie developed by Falcosoft. What's good with this one is that it's resource friendly because it doesn't use a lot of RAM when running this application.
Note: You may also need to install K-lite Codec Pack to play other video formats not natively supported by Microsoft's default codec pack. You can download K-lite Codec Pack on their official website.
See attachment for the application and video proof.
A little thanks will do if you like my post and please post some feedbacks!
Have fun and more power!
P.S.: This is also working on previous versions of Windows.

As most of you know, microsoft keep bringing out "Windows Live" software, which they are using to replace several windows apps. One of these is "Windows Live Movie Maker" which is replacing "Windows Movie Maker"
Its incredibly easy to use, but you can choose to output a movie in a format perfect for ppcs. All you have to do, is drag & drop the video you want to convert, then click on "output" and then "for portable device" or something.
Then it saves it as another video file, brilliant for PPC viewing.
The drawbacks:
Because its made by Microsoft, the formats it can use are limited. Admitedly, WLMM is still in Beta, but I doubt it will get any more compatible with other formats.
Just thought that I would share this with you all. It got me excited because i dont have to search for dodgy conversion software or anything. Plus, it looks prety. (well, as far as software goes)
Heres a link to the windows live package thingys:
http://download.live.com/
Hope someone finds it useful.
my favourite media conversion tool is called SUPER (Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer)
website:www.erightsoft.net/SUPER.html
and the hard to find download link: http://www.erightsoft.info/GetFile.php?SUPERsetup.exe
One of the best freeware (or any) conversion software you will find. Can literally conver ANYTHING to ANYTHING with no cut back on the type of settings you can alter. Really does allow you to optimize the conversion not only to cater your PPC, but as well as your actual device in great detail.no extra crap installed with this app. Guarantee that anyone using this will be extremely satisfied. Try it out and let me know what you think. btw not my app (don't think i'm trying to push it just for the sake of it) just an admirer.
Hi,
I am trying to get the ActiveX plugin for the Windows Media Player to work in PocketIE, or rather Internet Explorer Mobile on an O2 XDA Orbit 2 (Windows Mobile 6). The objective is to play a wma file from a URL, but using javascript to control the player, which will sit in a display:none; styled div.
I dont want to post walls of code, so I have setup this simple page to illustrate and test it:
http://lukas.xcomms.ie/cblproof/Default.aspx
I am able to display this fine in PocketIE, and I am able to play the audio file, just as in the desktop browser. However, with the new version of this plugin (i.e. using classid "clsid:6BF52A52-394A-11D3-B153-00C04F79FAA6" instead of the old "CLSID:22D6F312-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95"), I am no longer able to use the javascript calls for .Play() and .Stop() on the player object.
When I switch the code back to use the old plugin, I can successfully use javascript to control the player in the desktop version of IE, but since the plugin is not installed on the WinMo6 device, I cannot bring the page to load the player in PocketIE.
Has anyone come across this before, or is there any reference documentation for the new ActiveX plugin, similar to the old Windows Media Player for PocketPC SDK that Microsoft had for PocketPC 2002 way back when?
Any input here would be much appreciated, I have trawled this forum and the internet for two days now, but unfortunately information is very sparse. I am stuck with PocketIE because of other requirements for the project, so switching to Opera or SkiFire is not an option I am afraid.
Thank you very much in advance for any pointers!
Mike
Other options
Hi again,
since no-one seem to have an idea to circumvent this particular challenge, can anyone suggest an alternative? I would be willing to skin the plugin, or use any other means of controlling audio in a web page through JavaScript.
I hate the fact that we have to work with Pocket IE on this, but at least it means that whatever solution we go for will need to work only on this platform and not across a variety of handsets / browsers.
Very grateful for any thoughts, opinions, advice,
Thanks again!
Mike
Hello,
Well, we had a new project going for quite some time now. It is called MolyMobile. It is a website where you can find the following:
6500 radio and television streams (from around 60 countries)
Temporary note function. Save a note with a unique code on your computer and open it on your phone by using the same unique code.
Translate text on your mobile phone
A huge database with seducing tips and pickup lines for woman and man.
Adult content: A huge database with galleries which load images optimalized for your screen resolution so not much data has to be downloaded. Also videos and streaming adult channels.
The streams get checked regular and work on Windows Media Player (not all of them work with Windows Mobile Media Player, you can try other players).
However, we need beta testers who are willing to test the website on their computer and on their mobile phone. Also we need feedback, comments and feature requests. We can add almost everything you want.
So if you use the site, please comment in this thread.
Site: http://www.molymobile.com/
Open for everyone now
I just logged in as betatester, looks good so far
Edit: I just testet the adult section. Could not open the some of the streams. The movies works great and so does the pics. I use a HD2 on orginal ROM.
kaospiloten, thanks for the feedback!
Could you name one of the streams that doesn't work (or pm it). Also, the streams are checked automatically with windows media player, and the mobile windows media player does not support everything the computer version does. A solution is trying other players, like coreplayer, etc.
Looking forward for new feature requests, so I can add new pages. What do you want to see on a mobile page??
Hi
I have problems with:
Girl TV
Girl TV2
Hardcore TV1
Hardcore TV2
AdultChannel and Movie 10 and 25 works on my HD2
I wil try them with CorePlayer
Thanks kaospiloten. You can of course visit the website from your computer, and the four are not working correctly. They probably will be removed on the next check.
But does anyone have a feature request so we can add new options/features.
I'm a bit disappointed with the feedback. Come on guys
Come on, we have worked hard to make all of this free...
Well, we had some other testers, and most of the bugs have been removed. So the website is open for everyone now.
Kind regards,
Themuzz

Well i have some request, tv channel which i can watch on spb tv i cant watch on molymobile!!! I also wonder if its possible to insert radio links into spb radio!!
Well, it's not spb but has way more streams
By that I mean, can I just download media say from the browser on the SRT and browse it in a file explorer, and click to play?
Do I (will I?) have a choice of music/video player for that file?
also, since there is no outlook, can anyone tell me if they read about or tried how well does the calendar and email apps work? Most review sites are too excited about the OS and hardware they are neglecting talking about built in apps...
Also, are smartglass features within a contained app? Or is it more universal like AirPlay on iPad?
Thanks
More hands-on info on Windows RT in below link. Metro doesn't have a built-in file manager, and for now you'd need to drop to desktop mode to browse files/folders. A bit klunky. Despite all the hype about it, Metro still has many functionality holes to fill. Since file mgmt is a top need, I imagine there'll be 3rd-party solutions for Metro soon enough.

I've not browsed the Windows store lately, but am not aware of any full-range 3rd-party media player, at least not the kind that can handle a wide range of codecs/formats that we've come to expect from Windows players like VLC. As with many needs, it'll be a waiting game for software to catch up.
Smartglass will be an app, although one would expect substantial integration to MS' existing services over time.

smart glass is still wp8 only?
I know ms is trying to use exclusivity to promote wp, but there are a few million people right now, that would buy this for iphone and android devices.
"Xbox SmartGlass for Android and iPhone coming early 2013, Windows 8 version here 26 October"
http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/48081/xbox-smartglass-iphone-android-early-2013
It's pretty much mixed, there are many settings that you have to use the desktop control panel. There is desktop paint, calculator, notepad and cammand line. The Office is on desktop. Eventhing metro is more convenient when operating with fingers though.
Any ideas? I presume this would need an app.

My entire music collection is in FLAC format so if Windows RT cannot play it - at all - then that is a problem for me. Windows 8 Pro on the desktop doesn't properly play it(wthout additional third party filters or apps etc.) so I'm not expecting Windows RT to play nice.
Let's hope some good Windows RT apps come out soon for this purpose. My Android tablets and smartphones all play FLAC using the built in apps I just kindof expected it to be there.
Although popular in the Linux space (which Android is built on), FLAC gets relatively little attention from the commercial OS vendors. You *could* transcode it to WMA-Lossless if you don't mind storing each song twice, I guess...
Implementing an app to decode and play FLAC would be fairly easy, aside from the hassle of implementing a decent media player UI (not trivial, even for developers that supposedly know how to do GUIs). Better would be to just implement an installable codec, but I'm not sure if that's even possible on RT and it might not work in Store apps even on Win8.
