If you don't unlock bootloader, you cannot make changes to the system files or apps.

I accidentally deleted the both Clock 1.0 packages in Titanium, because I thought they were widgets. It turns out one of them was the clock app, the other the widget. I had backed them up previously in TB, but when I try to restore them, it just sits there on the screen with a spinning wheel. I have checked the option for 'Unknown Sources' under applications and for USB debugging, but no go.
I stumbled upon this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1070083
It looks like all I need to do is to restore the 'ClockPackage.odex' in the right place and I'll be good. I tried it with the file attached in the thread, but nothing changed because I suspect that the SR's 'ClockPackage.odex' is different from the intl. SGS2.
If someone is able to pull the 'ClockPackage.odex' file from their SR through Root Explorer and upload it here, that would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Here you go: http://www.mediafire.com/?sdt9i3nvaob7uiz
Thanks, but that didn't seen to restore the clock app. Maybe my 'com.sec.android.app.clockpackage.apk' is corrupted. Are we allowed to request .apk here? Hoping to get just the clock restored...
Anyone have any suggestions or the ability to upload their 'com.sec.android.app.clockpackage.apk'?
Did you set the right permission? Place both the apk and odex in system/apps. Set permission for both files reboot. Get root explorer from the market.

They're in the right place. What permissions are they supposed to be at? I've attached the screenshots for both files.
Pretty sure they need to be rw- r-- r--

Hmmm...no luck after a reboot. Also tried installing the .apk, but that didn't work either. What a mistake!

Dude, press and hold on the files using Root explorer from the market press set permission, click on the appropriate boxes. All the system apps have the same permission. Look at another app to see what's the right permission.

Wrong permission!! Exactly why they are not working. Here's the right permission. All of the system apps have the same permission on that directory. They look like this.

No, I get that its supposed to be rw- r-- r--. The shots were from before I knew the correct permissions.
I copied the zip file to sd card and used recovery to install it.
Does not work and would not allow me to change permission on sd card.
App is in system/app but cann't change permission, hence not working. ANy clear cut help will be greatly appreciated.

I have changed the permission and pshed the files using adb. I get the message
process com.android.inputmethod.latin has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
I am trying to make it work using htc sensation with ARHD XE ROM 3.6.7
Can anyone help me.
Where did you get the zip file? I am going to try install this version as the latest one in the HyperNoSense Rom keeps just dropping the keyboard VERY frustrating!
Replace it yourself then, it's not that hard.
the .so goes to
/system/libs
the apk goes to
/system/app
I don't know the permission for it and I don't pay attention to it. It just worked for me straight away

I got it working
I have managed to get it working by downloading the file from different place.
Copied the apk file to /system/app then changed permission and extracted .so file and copied to /system/lib, changed permission and restarted.
I would like to thank all of you who tried to help me. I love this community.
Okay, so one of the issues currently with the leaked firmware is that some apps (e.g titanium backup, file explorers, etc) cannot save files to the extsdcard due to a incorrect parameter in the platforms.xml
So here is the fix:
Method 1
1.) Download the extsdcardfix-flashable.zip below and save to sdcard
2.) Reboot to recovery (CWM/TWRP)
3.) Flash the zip
4.) Reboot
Method 2
1.) Download the platform.xml.zip attatchment and extract
2.) Navigate to ~/system/etc/permissions
3.) Replace the platforms.xml with this one
4.) Set permissions as RW-R--R-- (644)
5.) Reboot and test if apps now have access to external storage
And NOTE this may or may not work so do so at your own risk!

I use "ES File Explorer". The best Tool for Filemanipulation (copy, paste, delete) I know.
Can You upload me original platform.xml? I change file and i have error...
after i replaced file i missed that permissions changed... then i had to reset default to get everything working :/ bluetooth stopped working and i had terrible glitches and freezes.. even when i changed to 644... so secont time i just added media_rw line by editing permissions.xml and now it worked flawlessly
I noticed that even now when i have rw acces to sdcard not everything is working as in 4.3 - for example solid explorer does not see by default external sdcard :/ but it is only beta so i can live with it
Works like a charm!
Thx for this
Works. thank you so much

Ps.: sorry for bad english.

What explorer are you using? On most of them you just have to long press the file and it will display the menu option (copy, move, delete, PERMISSIONS).
Click on permissions and you will find where to check the option you need to make RW-R-R.
I use Root Explorer by the way.
Ok,
So I change only the permissions of platforms.xml file?
Is that right?

Anyone had any luck changing the boot animations? It has been a while since I've rooted and messed around with a phone, so I'm not up to date as to how/if this is possible nowadays.

You can goto root/product/etc/media and replace the bootanimation.zip to your desire boot animation. I have no problem in changing it. Make sure you change the permission to 644.

You can use ES file explorer. Select the file. From the "three dot", choose "Properties". Click on change permission. On the permission grid. Check "Owner", "Group", and "Other" for Read. Check "Owner" for Write. Uncheck all others. Click "OK" then click "Cancel". If you do it correctly you should see -rw-r-r- next to the file. Remember you need to get out of the editing mode by click on the back key a few time , get out of the media folder and back in before you can see the change.

I changed the bootanimation.zip file both in systwm/media and product/etc/media, but the boot animation doesn't change. I set permissions on both files to 644. Anyone have any idea why I'm not having any luck?
Has anyone successfully managed to do this?

I have no issues placing the file in the correct path and changing permission to 644. However when booting the screen is just black. Tried different files with same, or slightly different but equally disappointing, result.
So, no need for general instructions on how to do this but rather proof of concept.
Thank you.
