Best way to sim unlock MF3 or below! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 General

1.Call AT&T (800) 331-0500
2.Talk to a customer rep
3.Tell them you don't have and AT&T account and you're with a prepaid service (Airvoice worked for me!)
4.Ask to unlock your SIM card
5.If they say no get a new rep
6.Give the IMEI/ESN
7.get your unlock code!

When they check your IMEI it will show if you have a contract or not.

Beware, this code can lead to infinite loop!

AT&T will unlock any phone as long as it is their phone. Regardless of your status with them, if you have a contract with them or not.
I have been told by multiple reps at multiple AT&T stores that as long as it is one of their phones you can take it to any AT&T store and they will unlock it, however I don't know if they charge!

As long as there is no contract signed for the device, the device has been available on AT&T for at least 90 days, and the unlock code is easily obtained from the manufacturer, they'll unlock it.
Store reps don't unlock phones. You request through Care or the website.

Okay I just got an unlock code from AT&T. Is there a way to enter the unlock code without using another SIM card?

Possibly there is but nothing the general public would know. Sim cards are programed when made. Id save the hassle and ask a friend that has tmobile or if they got any old unsed sims.

Some sims won't work if theyre new (never been activated) but in my experience Tmobile sims (never activated) will work and so will previously activated sims that are no longer activate in service. Give it a try.

I have unlocked several phones through T-Mobile customer service. I simply tell them I am travelling oversees and need to use a GSM sim card from an oversees provider. Usually I would receive a response within a few days, but have seen 24 hour turnaround times before. The official name for the code is "subsidy unlock code" -at least at ATT they called it that. I think the only limitation is that TMOUS will only unlock 1 phone within a 90 day period per phone line or something like that. Good luck.
I tried to get an HTC One S code from Cellunlocker.net and it initially came back "not found" as they said its too new so try back a week later. I waited a week and a half and the code came back and it worked. Film it and you can get it for free sometimes!

Usually tell them you are traveling abroad and need it unlocked to use another sim card while you are over there. I have had several phones unlocked that way.
I have also just said "I need my phone unlocked for personal reasons" and generally they do not follow up with a why.
Telus is now offering the Blue/gray. Not sure if that would be any easier though.

Yeah, I work for T-Mobile in tech care and we don't care what the reason is really. You can do it for any reason at all as long as your account is eligible. I don't remember all the requirements but the major ones are these:
active account for at least 40 days (might be 45)
not delinquent, nothing past due on your account
not received another subsidy unlock code in the last 90 days for that phone line
There are other things they will check also, but those are the major points we look at. It's real easy though, we just ask for your IMEI and and email address and fill out an electronic form that goes to a department that gets sim unlock codes from the manufacturers. You will usually get an email with unlock code and instructions within 48 hours.

Not true. They can't stop you from unlocking it, but they don't have to do it for you. They just started unlocking iPhones after all.

Not quite accurate. A few years back AT&T was sued in a class action lawsuit regarding their phones being sim locked. To settle the class action they agreed to unlock phones for active customers who have been with AT&T for nine months free of charge. This agreement covered all devices except the iPhone. Finally, recently due to political pressure they agreed to unlock out of contract iPhones also. But in all cases you must have a current account with AT&T for them to provide you with a free unlock. If you are no longer a current customer or the phone is linked to an account in arrears then your only option is a paid unlocking service.
There are no laws in the US saying carriers have to unlock their phones.

I would call the carrier first and request the unlock code explaining the situation. If they won't give it to you, get it carrier unlocked.
Tmobile should give it to you though as their TOS claims they will if it is paid off and not in contract.

That is F'd up dude. If only you lived in California. I believe a state law was passed there that prevents carriers from refusing to unlock devices that are paid for. I'm really starting to despise them more and more. Only thing they are good for where I live is speed and coverage.

You can try this service from UnlockRadar working 100%: https://www.unlockradar.com/service/t-mobile-usa-device-unlock-app-official-unlock
What ROM are you using? In the past I've gotten that message about device comparability before, I was running an international ROM. If that's not the issue, honestly, give them a call back, might take a couple times but I've had different reps tell me different things and often calling back a couple times I'll get someone that is willing to help me.

MetroPCS version Unlocked working on Verizon

Paid for an unlocking service on eBay. I’ve used them several times. They unlocked it via the MetroPCS unlock app (not really an app because they’ve built it in to the actual OS on the A20 under more network settings). So it’s an official unlock not some remote in to your PC scam thing.

I'm guessing almost all the MetroPCS A20s on craigslist were given "free with contract" so the initial 24-month contract is not up yet (your case may be different). In that case, I'd expect MetroPCS(Tmo) to eventually put the MEID onto their blacklist. The carriers used to honor each others' blacklists, which could cause Vz to shut off service in the future.
That said, I bought a craigslist Boost G4 a few years ago, which was not accepted by Sprint but has worked fine on Tmo and ATT ever since. So maybe they are not sharing blacklists anymore.
So I look at the ebay link, did you paid 64$ to unlock this device? really

For anyone interested. The updated terms through metro for unlocking the carrier on an Android just involves paying more than $100 on your phones bill.
My A20 is free to unlock in about 10 days or so.
MetroPCS version of the A20
Have you activated the MetroPCS version of the A20 before you sent IMEI to unlock it, mine was not activated. as per my knowledge, Verizon SIM cards work with the following phones such as Verizon iPhone, Verizon Galaxy phone or other unlocked CDMA phones. and it won't be compatible with ATT or GSM phones. I want to get my hands on new MetroPCS as my last phone was way too old and wanted to know whether MetroPCS open near me or not.
