How do I tell which bootloader I have? Recently I flashed CleanROM 7 from CleanROM 6.0 R2. After finding some glitches I decided to flash back.
Upon going back, now my camera says "Camera Fail" when I try to open it.
I've searched and tried all the recommendations. One that I found suggests trying a previous bootloader.
How would I go about this?

For education purposes, the bootloader is not your problem. There's only two bootloaders to have, unlocked and locked. You need an unlocked bootloader to use custom roms on this device. You want a locked bootloader when you are using a Verizon official, bloated stock rom.
What you want is the modem firmware or just plain "firmware." You can flash in recovery the VRBMB1 firmware zip and see if this helps you. Visually, you'll see a change in Settings/About Phone/Baseband.
I thought that sounded strange. I'll try going back to the previous modem and RPM package and if that helps. Thanks

Ok, I'm on MF1 still from flashing CR7. That link you included does mention cameras breaking going from MB1 to MF1. I'll find MB1 and see if that fixes it.

Yea, Samsung implemented some change in the kernel for VRBMF1 that automatically checks for the trust zone or something to that effect. The trust zone is included with the VRBMF1 firmware so downgrading to a VRBMB1 rom will cause the camera to fail instantly. Basically, Mastamoon and Invisiblek figured out what the issue was and boom, happy community. There are some people who still have issues after this but one less person helps out.

I have rooted my Verizon GS3 and Bootloader Unlocked. I have tried 2 ROMs so I think I must be missing a step or something here....
After I Flash to the JB Rom (CM10 and Liquidsmooth) when the phone reboots, I get the following:
System software not authorized
by Verizon Wireless has been
found on your phone.
Please turn off your phone
and go to the nearest
Verizon Wireless store for help.
after which I use Odin and go back to stock 4.0.4 with Root.
Anyone have any ideas that may help? Couldn't find that on the forums at all.... Thanks in advance.
You're bootloader isn't unlocked. If you're using ez unlock the new market version is not working correctly. I don't have the older version, but if you search its been posted a couple times.

I never had a problem with anything until I flashed beans build 6. I did a clean install but ever since my phone has been freezing nonstop. I have to battery pull every time and it is getting frustrating. I went back to build 5 on a clean install and the same thing occurs. I even tried downloading my apps one by one from the play store instead of restoring from titanium and I still get this issue. Someone please give me some enlightenment I'm desperate!

1) What does a full wipe consist of in your case?
2) Freezing as in you can't do anything at all or freezing as in laggy? How long did you have Beans Build 5 and/or 6 installed?
3) did you have the AOSP Lockscreen installed via Aroma (when you first flash the rom)? if so, did you deselect ALL the TW options under Settings/Lockscreen?
4) Do you check the md5 before flashing build 5 or build 6? If not, what do they say when you check now?
AOSP lock screen was the culprit that required me to pull my battery. I have no problems with the tw lock screen on B6. Battery life, GPS, performance is great on B6.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
When you enable AOSP lock screen you must disable all other functions in the same settings menu. Everything must be off. I'm running it flawlessly after doing so.

Full wipe for me would be factory reset/system/cache/dalvic
It would freeze and I wouldn't be able to do anything so I had to battery pull
I had some settings turned on for touch wiz lock screen and I've turned them off since and I think that may have been the culprit. They were there as default however.
Also how would I go about checking md5

That's exactly what I did. Then switched to TW 4x5 launcher and also changed to CWM recovery (before re flashing ROM) and all my issues went away. Don't know if Nova was the issue or not but it works great now. Fast and smooth. Even running IMO lean kernel with no problems. Here's the quadrant score.

Didn't realize Quadrant was so frowned upon around here. Sorry for posting. Have used other benchmarks and with B6 have achieved scores very close to the supposed reigning benchmark king that I will not mention lol. Either way, I'm very happy with the speed and smoothness of B6 now. Once B7 corrects the email issue and I'm assuming will be based on the official OTA release tomorrow I think I've found my daily driver. Great ROM.

I was using cwm and switched to twrp actually and I think that may have helped... There is no telling though. I would go back to cm10 but I have constant call issues with it even with late builds. Probably my phone being temperamental though. I am one that believes in doing clean installs though so I know my problems aren't from a so called dirty flash. I wish I could import my desktop layout into trebuchet because I always feel that it was the fasted launcher for me.

I don't know. Weird. I did flash another ROM between 5 and 6. That may have started my issues. Hoping Eclipse updates And gets 4.2 along with Google now. If so, I'll go back to that. Only non TW ROM I liked. Very fast and no issues with Eclipse 2.1 build 4.

I've flashed almost every ROM available and I always find that builds that are built off cm10 with more customizable options always give me issues for some reason. I was s strong believer in cm10 until I tried out beans with the new aosp options.

So I just flashed CM 10.1 on my I535 to get a taste of 4.2. Nice ROM overall, however it did something strange to my SD card.
After flashing it, I booted into recovery to restore my daily driver CR5.5.1 and noticed this strange “0" folder on my SD Card in TWRP.
I initially was unable to locate my backups but then found them in a folder.
My backup was unable to flash because it was no longer a .zip file. All the files were .win.
Two questions, how do I fix this and flash my backup?
How do you check to make sure TWRP is up to date?
Thank you very much for the help !

In case you don't read the thread, it's only four pages right now, this isn't a 100% fix so you may have to repeat these steps if/when it happens again. It looks easy enough although I'm not on AOSP to know.

I just started a new thread about this topic because it is different but related to CM 10.1..
Just read that I need to Odin back to stock and unroot.. then *2767*3855#' then re root and unlock?
I flashed back to stock ICS last night and did the above mentioned keypad trick.
Then flashed back to JB and am still getting the global mode issue..

I've only seen two ideas as potential solutions, Odin/dialer code or flashing or maybe changing this obscure setting. Maybe I need to do more thorough reading on other methods.
Seeing all these issues with JB 4.2 is rather disconcerting.

RPM is really the only partition that we can pull and fllash like that. There are several other partitons that are hidden. Don't even see them when you Odin. There are partitions inside of the main partitions like the ones where IEMI are stored.

I have no clue. Depends what they change. And nobody knows what is tied to what. I always update all the firmware when OS changes or there is a major change such as adding Global. A 400 MB update there is more than just a rom upgrade.

Droidstyle seems to think using the full wipe version fixes some of the the problems. I have noticed a drop in the media scan after flashing the full wipe myself.
So, folks. I am pretty new to the community, and would like to start trying to contribute some useful information. :good:
Pretty straightforward... The way I managed to remove my custom padlock on my device was to flash a modem after I flashed my ROM and kernel. Upon rebooting, I would no longer have the padlock. Has worked for me dozens of times. (With touch-wiz based roms)
If every one else finds that this will not work for them, let me know, and I will gladly remove the post.
