[Q] Help required ......need a downgrade - Sony Xperia L

My wife's xperia L keeps shutting off by itself. Tried hard restore and also flashed the firmware 15.0.A.2.17, but these did not fix the problem. I'm guessing it's a hardware fault and she'll need to get it replaced. When we asked about sending it in for warranty, the Sony staff said that she wouldn't be covered because we upgraded to an overseas firmware and literally told us to buy another phone. One possible option was suggested and that was to flash back to the generic Taiwanese 15.0.A.1.36 firmware. Possible to get :
Generic TW 1271-8648 15.0.A.1.36 R7A
CHT TW 1275-0241 15.0.A.1.36 R3A
If anyone could help me get either of these ftf's I would be so grateful.
Cheers from Taiwan.

You can try changing customization number to the Taiwanse firmware. Then repair your phone by PCC or SUS.

If I did this I would have to root the phone and thereby would void the warranty. Simple answer, I'm basically screwed, right??

I hope you know in SUS you can't downgrade to a previous version. Perhaps you didn't read my initial post properly?

The method that damian01211 mentioned above worked for me and I recovered my GR Generic
Just change customization number and flash new stock rom from SUS or PCC

any model name change?
hi, that is good to hear - i have a C1604 but can only find C1605 ROMs.
can i check though, does your Settings -> About still say your model is C1604? I have found some forum posts elsewhere that the C1605 firmware changes the model number. Not a big thing but it would still bother me a little....

Yes, the model number will change, but that's not a big problem. If you really want to keep it the same, just change it in the build.prop (I take no responsibilities for anything that happens, but I have done it once to make my phone read Samsung I9500 - that's the Galaxy S4 octa-core version).

... I don't know how to do that, alas
(your caveat isn't really helping either )
I'd like to find a FTF for C1604 for the original ICS build - any chance anybody can point me out to one, nice and ready? I've actually gone through the process of building my own FTF with flashtool from the files downloaded by Sony Update Service, but (as I'm sure as you know) that only gets me access to the "latest" firmware, and not the "original market release/ship" firmware, which I'd like to be able to go back to...

Then don't select any wipe option .there is a slight chance of bootloop but you can always flash again with wiping everything clean if that happnes. try to exclude TA partition if it's present and don't worry the risks are really small
Don't forget to use latest version of flashtool

"N/A" while fetching latest release under FlashTool

Hi,
I'm currently in a little mess. I was under ExistenZ and I want to try the latest 7.1.1 Nougat. So I relock my bootloader in order to flash the .223 via Flashtool.
When I'm trying to download the firmware via XperiFirm, I click on "Chek all" and I have always "N/A" instead of see the firmware number :/
I'm under Linux Mint 18.
Any hint to bypass this problem ?
Thanks in advance

I would try reinstalling Flashtool first and see if that helps.
Why did you relock your bootloader though? I don't think this is a required step.

Well then I don't know how to fix that problem.
If you want though...
I have uploaded 6.0.1 / 7..0 and 7.1.1 Firmwares for both Xperia XZ and Xperia XZ Dual to my google drive.
If you wish to use it here is the link to the folder: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1-5Lr_Sntl5bzU2eEZCaFA3azg
I don't remember exactly from which countries the firmwares I downloaded and uploaded there are.
Most are either Dutch or Customized Germany firmwares.
Otherwise if you want a different specific firmware, you'll have to figure out a way to download it yourself

Xpericheck.com also put links to ftf of some variants, so this can e used as a substitute for not working xperifirm. The country variants doesn't differ much - mostly by the number of preloaded apps (some have facebook/spotify/avg installed as system apps) and by type of icons shown (nfc icon, lte vs. 4g icon, in NOBA you have icon indicating 2g/3g/4g even while roaming).
