[Q] Bluetooth keboard connection problems - General Questions and Answers

I have a Galaxy note 8.0 (GT-N5110) running Jelly bean 4.1.2 and a problem I've hit is that I am trying to connect a bluetooth keyboard to it and I'm having problems.
When I connect the keyboard it pairs successfully but it won't connect to the keyboard to use it as input it only pairs successfully. I know it's not the keyboard because this is the second bluetooth keyboard I've gotten that supports my tablet and it just doesn't seem to connect.
I have other bluetooth devices that my tablet connects and in and outputs to fine. The keyboard connects fine with my mothers iPad my Glaxaly S4 both of which fun most up to date OS. I factory reset it when I first got the tablet and updated to latest OS so I can't imagine it's a bug in the operating system.
With this outline are there any solutions I haven't covered or tried?

Have you tried "External Keyboard Helper" - App?

I don't know. It worked for my chuwi V88 (very similar to pipo), but i used a custom-Rom. Just try it.

Sorry, i have no experiences with pipo-devices. I only know they are using the same cpu, as my chuwi (RK3188), an this one is really powerful!

I had "ShareBluetooth"

I had "ShareBluetooth" and it didn't work any other apps that are potentially better?

Can a keyboard mapped as game controller on Gtablet?

Grasping at straws here, but has anyone been able to map any of the Oid emulators or PSX to function as a controller? Due to the iffy multi touch response of the Gtablet, the virtual pad is not very playable for emulators. Definitely the device, since Incredible and Droid X work decently with vpad.
People have reported keyboards working (another question- how people got them working), so wonder if anyone tried.
Yea works great. I did it at work last night

TnT Lite 2.0?
What keyboard or method (usb or bluetooth)? Probably not bluetooth (if TnT), since no way to currently adjust the input keyboard option.
Thanks
no tnt will not let you choose other input methods, as far as i know there is not a mod or fix for this either. it really stinks

A little confused then, since this contradicts other posters- IF they are using a TnT based rom.
I would say I need to test myself to be sure, but already have. Like you, Crim, I had ZERO luck getting ANY usb device to work that I tried. Bluetooth or USB.
Not sure what to make of reports of success. Only thing that seems to make sense is they are not using TnT based firmware. One person reported wifi usb controllers working, which is as likely as the viewing angles improving
I know they meant bluetooth, but the point is the info is getting a tad convoluted.
Real simple:
Has anyone gotten a usb or bluetooth keyboard to work with the TnT Lite 2.0?
If "yes":
1. Bluetooth or USB?
2. How did you get it to work?
3. What model & part number for the device?
4. Are you really using TnT 2.0?

1. USB. i used a dell keyboard and a lenovo keyboard and they both work. they are generic keyboards with no special keys
2. i plugged it in, i rebooted the first time because someone else said they had to do that. but i tested plugging in without reboot and that worked for me also on both keyboards.
3. Model No. UPC300-2.2 .... is this the one you needed off the back of the gtab?
4. yes im using tntlite2.0. in my 'about tablet' it says for model number "GTablet-TnT-Lite" and when i installed it i only followed the directions for the 2.0 but i can double check if you know a place i can check the actual version
5. usb mouse did not work for me with or without reboots. the laser in the mouse did turn on and the mouse received power, but the gtab did nothing. i even opened an emulator to try to map the mouse to some keys and it did not pick up anything

Thanks! So USB KB's work, but bluetooth KB's do not with TnT FW.

ok, maybe i worded that poorly. i was able to use a usb keyboard and that qualifies as another input method. but as far as selecting another input method other than the stock tnt keyboard that is a big no go(wiimote, swype, stock android keyboard, swiftkey etc...)but yes i plugged in a standard microsoft usb keyboard and it did work right away. that isn't really what i'm looking for though.

Almost like the OEM did it on purpose. Perhaps in a naive effort to force VSs own peripherals on folks at a later date?? Nah!

Same here. I have also had success with RF wireless keyboards that have a USB transceiver.
Thanks for the clarifications!
I wonder if there are any USB game controllers that poll using ASCII mapping like keyboards do?

Apple bluetooth keyboard

I can't seem to find a definite answer to this: Has anyone had an Apple bluetooth keyboard work with their g tablet? There's a laptop like case for the ipad that has a bluetooth keyboard that I would like to modify for the g tablet, but I'm not sure if the bluetooth keyboard that comes with it would work.
Thanks
I tried my friends ipad keyboard case but couldn't get it to connect to the g tab. Wish I knew how

Same here. I have an iPad (company issued) with the keyboard but I can't make it pair with the gTab. It sees the keyboard and asks for a code and I've tried 0000 and the classic 1234 and neither seems to allow a connection.
A while back when I was looking for something similar and found this.

At the time the seller claimed it would work on any bluetooth enabled device including Android devices even though he doesn't list it in his description.

I read that you can pick any code you want, then type it on the keyboard and hit "enter".

I tried that just to check but no dice. In order for me to type it on the keyboard it needs to be paired with the device. It doesn't pair so that didn't work. It was worth a shot though.
I tried using a seperate device and that didnt work either. Maybe some hack????
I tried typing on keyboard too and that didnt work... thought about it but no go.

Hi all,
Sorry your having problems, what you need to do is get blueinput
its on the apps store, it works kind of.
Its been a few weeks since i set it up and used it,
From what I remember you have to install the apk into the system apk section on your tablet then just load the app and select the blueinput keyboard then it works.
it is limited and I lost connection a lot but as far as I could see it was the only way to get it to work.
Yes i used this with the mac keyboard, there is a topic on it somewhere in the g tab forums, and I believe it was a tutorial how to get it fully working.
If you guys cant find it I will do some digging or reinstall it and tell you all how to do it.
Yeah blueinput is what others are using, with that said most bluetooth things require a different program to get connected which sucks. They should have at least gotten bluetooth mouse and keyboard working in the Android OS by now...
actualy i found the post where all of the info is at.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=869747&page=4
also gunsjoe there seems to be a way to do this without blueinput.

I have not tryed prscott1's method my self but i think otheres have said it works.

Has anyone successfully paired this with the Note 10.1? When trying to pair, the Note asks for a password/pin which I cannot find anywhere. Any suggestions?

Only a process of elimination. Ensure that tablet can successfully connect to some other bluetooth device and that the mouse can connect to some other device such as a PC or notebook via bluetooth. Want to exclude any hardware fault.
You could also contact Canon support for their suggestions.
It does look like an interesting device. Good luck.

I guess here is some problem with pairing. I have the same issue with my Nexus 7 32GB (official Android 4.3).
In my case, the mouse needs no pairing code with Win 7 or Debian Jessie (and works with both systems), but Nexus with Android 4.3 asks for the pairing code. Another BT mouse (Rapoo model 6200) works nicely with all systems (Win 7, Debian and Android) without any pairing code.
New tests with another devices, Sep-06:
Cannot be paired with Nexus S, both official Android 4.1.2 or CM or with Lenovo A660 (pudil's ROM based on original Android 4.0.4 version 025).
Apologies for opening this old (ancient) thread, but I'm seeing this behaviour on Windows now as well; up-to-date devices ask for a pin and refuse to connect, while older do not ask and connect instantly.
Did anyone have this on Windows, or fix the issue somehow?

[Help Needed] Bluetooth Keyboard & Mouse Issue

Hi, My Note 10.1 is on Android 4.1.2 on Redemption Rom. Runs awesome. I use use a bluetooth keyboard with it every day, and today is the first time i connected a bluetooth mouse and im having an unusual problem:
With the bluetooth keyboard connected, when i connect my Apple Magic Mouse, when the mouse is connected if i am typing the keyboard starts putting in extra letters. Example:
"Thiis is aaaaan exampllle of typinnnggg on Annnnnnnndroid."
When this is happening, as soon as i turn off the Apple Magic Mouse, the issue solves itself. Then if i reconnect the mouse the issue starts again. Anyone have this problem? Could it be because of some incompatiblility of the Note 10.1 and Apple Magic Mouse? Or some Android bug?
I was having an issue each time i tried typing with the keyboard where the built in software keyboard would pop up regardless if the bluetooth keyboard was connected or not. I solved this by installing "Null Keyboard" which each time the keyboard connects i have to select the default input method, but this is a small inconvience compared to having the entire keyboard pop up.

Self problem on Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100 Android 4.1.1
I have the sam problem but on galaxy note 2(GT-N7100)
when its connect if dont see the mouse courser....
anyone the self problem and know who i can change this....
Same problem on the international galaxy note 2 N7100
Confirmed
I've tried 2 different keyboards, the Logitech tablet and the Belkin folio, with an HP mouse, and when the mouse is on the keyboard gets flaky.
This is a big issue for everyone that wants to remote desktop.
Also, I'd say that the mouse seems rather laggy itself.
Where do we submit bug reports?

You can flash a different ROM (something that's not TW based) Also try switching different kernels. People have gotten it to work this way

[PAIR] Dualshock 4 over bluetooth

I tried to connect the DualShock 4 to my Oneplus 6 via bluetooth but after 30 seconds working properly, an imput lag appears and the controller becomes unusable.
I have searched the network and the error is common in many devices, but they all solve it with an application called Bluetooth Auto Connect.
But in OP6 it does not work, neither version 4.2.2 nor 4.5.4, none of the options that you select inside the application solves the problem.
Is there any way to correct it?
I have Android 9.0.2 rooted with Magisk + XXX 4.0 module.
thanks

ow boy, I had this problem with the input lag on my nvidia shield device. I also used the bluetooth auto connect app to evade input lagg.
Interrestingly enough, I found out that a dualshock v1 works without problems and reduces input lag, but if I used a dualschock v2 the input lag kept coming back, therefore my sollution was to use a dual shock v1 version.
I just bought an iPega 9099 bluetooth gamepad and i must say that i am impressed, no latency at all, you can fin it for 25$ on amazon or aliexpress or gearbest, really happy with my purchase

hmm interesting, never tested on newer android systems like nougat or pie, only used on my shield tablet which has 7.0
on nougat the v1 was the only sullotion, but to be honest it is unacceptable to have input lagg on anny android system.
I hope there is a way to fix this !
