I have this same problem before with cpu going 100% then serious lag. What fixed this in my defy is I downloaded sysctl from market then adjusted min free kbytes to 8192. this is the same method from another thread that discusses google maps hanging. Hope it works

update your phone to 2.3.3 new release its awesome, you wont face any lags / hangs..gingerbread is nice
fyi :: you can always go back to your original rom if you dont like it. Follow the nandroid method and you are good to go. enjoy
Defy cannot be bricked so go on try your hands on gingerbread official orange leaks now.
Reconsider it if you are really into games. My NFS and Asphalt games aren't working anymore after having Gingerbread 2.3.3. Work fine with my Froyo 2.2.2. Other games like GTracing, Angry birds, MotoGP and etc work fine..
I tried numerous ways but all failed to run the NFS and Asphalt. Thought something must have block the games from running. Hope someone have an answer for this work around method.
However, I still stick with gingerbread 2.3.3 as it simply awesome speed and overall performance. Games wise I'm not really playing them in my phone. I have PSP and PS3 to release my addicts with.
I have made it to 8192 but before what is the rate

just for this steps.
>make sure you have charged you phone to 100%.
>now go to recovery mode (turn off then power on + vol down till android logo appears) now as you are on 2.1 press the lower right corner of the screen you will be in recovery mode. now full wipe factory reset you phone , wipe cache and reboot.
>now again turn off (now go to boot loader mode :: Power on and pressing vol UP for 3 sec and release it) once in bootloader. on your pc turn on rsd lite 4.9 and connect via usb (make sure all the necessary drivers have been installed)
>now select the sbf file on 2.2.2 and flash it
Hey guys,
I've been trying to get GTA3 to run on the Tab since launch and it seems I finally found out how!
Here is what you need:
1. You need to find a way to purchase GTA3 from the market! I did this by purchasing it for my SGS2.
2. Make sure to install version 1.1 as version 1.0 crashes and causes a device reset!
3. There is no need for Chainfire3D options to be activated.
Cheers,
C.
Work ON ICS
I have test version 1.1 on My tab running ICS Alpha 3..and its work...^_^
Here the screenshot :
Bump!
I reached Staunton Island and it works just fine.
Missions are harder to complete without a mouse, but the retry system works great and it's really fun!

Working on Stock Firmware provided by Overcome
Installed GTA 3 V 1.1 this night and it worked! Though i seems it's a bit laggy but who gives a **** it works!
Im using the stock firmware provided by overcome, with root priviliges and the overcome kernel and recovery.
Hi, today I downloaded from the market the Grand Theft Auto III and downloaded the files to be able to play the game and I made it with Android 2.3.6 Stock P1000XWJQ8_P1000PHNJQ1_P1000XXJPZ with root and with stock kernel.
Note: Just install the latest GTA III app and you will be able to play the game
i'm running gta 3 on my galaxy tab (with overcome kratos rom) and its laggy as hell. even after a reboot and closing all kind of open applications/tasks it gets nearly unplayable when i enter a vehicle... too bad
a cracked one?
do you guys download crack games?? if so, can anyone give me a link for this game?a cracked one? I'm sorry if i want a crack.. I can't just afford it

Are you kidding me?
IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD IT, TOUGH! DO NOT ASK FOR WAREZ ON XDA
Version 1.2 works great, and with the full effect turned on
( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399258 )
I'm in love again!
I use the sgsll full effects file on either Boca rc1 or icedboca
Lagfree governor, vr scheduler at 1.2 ghz
Unplayable on overcome. Hangs every few seconds and doesnt go far beyond 10fps.
I went into options and put sfx and music to 0. Now the game is playable but still not 100% smooth. Sadly not much else I can do as there's no overclocked kernel for P1010 official gingerbread rom.

Original Samsung Galaxy Tab with Stock Rom 2.3.3 Does play it well
I have Samsung Galaxy Tab with 2.3.3 ( Stock Rom ) DDJPA version recently updated from Froyo. I tried the steps, but game hangs in between. While I have all the HD gameloft games like 9mm, Nova2, MC2, MC3, Asphalt 6 Adrenaline ( all HD versions) , and all of them works flawlessly. Also I have almost 6 GB of free space on Internal Storage while my SD card also has 4 GB free.
Did anyone faced the similar problems on Stock Rom from India -DDJPA versions of Gingerbread. Please help

I contacted rockstar because of my galaxy s2 and they gave me the usual list of things to do...
First, check to verify that your device is listed as a supported device:
http://support.rockstargames.com/en...anniversary-edition-list-of-supported-devices
Unsupported devices may display poor performance or crashing. We are always working to support as many hardware types as possible, and we recommend subscribing to that article for the latest additions to supported devices. Note that Rockstar Games has not tested on jailbroken phones or custom ROMs, and we are unable to guarantee functionality on modified devices.
If your device is supported, here are some troubleshooting steps that may solve crashing issues on Grand Theft Auto III 10th Anniversary Edition:
Close Background Applications Crashing may be caused by playing GTA III while other applications are running in the background. To fix this:
Android: Use an application such as Advanced Task Killer (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rechild. advancedtaskkiller&hl=en) to minimize the number of processes running in the background while playing GTA III Reboot the Device It may also help to restart the device and run GTA III from the fresh boot with no other applications running. To reboot the device:
Android: Some phones have their own unique soft boot methods, but the safest bet is to turn the phone off, wait 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. Hard Reset the Device if Still Crashing After Rebooting
iOS and Android: Try making some room on your device if it is filled with other applications and data. In particular, this has been reported as a fix for some problems on the Galaxy S II, but may improve performance issues or crash problems on other devices as well. Redownload the Game
iOS and Android: To rule out possible data corruption, delete the game from your iOS or Android device and then re-download it from the App Store or Android Market. Be sure that there is enough space for that game and your signal is strong enough to complete the download. Update the OS/Firmware Please ensure that you are running the latest OS/Firmware on your phone or tablet.
Android: Press the "Home" button. Then press the "Menu" button (four horizontal lines, the word "Menu," or four small squares), then select "Settings." Select "About Phone." Choose "System Updates" and follow the on-screen directions to install any updates, if necessary. The lowest supported version is 2.2, but we recommend updating to the latest available. Determine if Other Applications are Causing a Conflict Occasionally, unforseen conflicts may arise between applications and uninstalling some of them may help to isolate the issue.
Android: Go to Settings->Applications->Manage Applications and uninstall other applications that may be interfering with GTA III. This may be particularly helpful if you are able to see in the error log (directions for recording error logs are in a later section of this article) which other Application could be running in the background, causing a problem. Restore the Device If you are definitely using a supported device and one or more of your applications is crashing consistently, try restoring your device.
Android: If your device is supported and you are crashing frequently in GTA III 10th Anniversary Edition and/or other applications, consider a factory reset. Note that you will lose data and settings. To perform a reset from the Home screen, go to Menu->Settings->SD & Phone Storage->Factory data reset->Confirm. Check the Crash Log
Android Error Log: On Android, we recommend downloading a free app such as aLogcat (https://market.android.com/details?id=org.jtb.alogcat&hl=en) to monitor any errors or crashes that occur on your device. This is useful not only when submitting tickets to Rockstar for help, but also as a way to determine yourself what processes or conflicts may be causing the problem.
For more information about Android troubleshooting, please refer to http://www.android.com/.
Personally I find closing all background applications before playing helped alot and rockstar couldn't help me with error logging to see if a background application is causing the problem.

As stated in the topic, my phone is rooted and I am using Cyanogenmod Jelly Bean. I recently downloaded the game "100 Doors 2013" and EVERY time I play the game my phone crashes. I'm sorry if this is a kind of impossible to answer question but I'd like to see if anyone else has had this same problem and what could be causing it. For those of you who have played the game, you should know how simple of a game it is and thus I highly doubt the game is too big/resourceful for a powerful phone like the S3 to handle. RIGHT when it crashes it goes to the cyanogenmod screen with the blue spinning circle and then boots up again to my lock screen. I usually can't beat more than a full level at the most without it crashing. If someone could help me figure out what's going on with this I would really appreciate it. Thank you!
Run this script
It seems the app is force restarting your phone. The Cyanogenmod logo you see is the boot animation.
This script will create a logcat (debug log) and save it out right before the system restarts. Someone may be able to decipher that for further information.
hello there and sorry to hear about ur problem i hav tested the game on a rom or two and had no issuses with it the best advice i can give u is to talk to the cook of the rom ur using meaning u hav to ask the guys on that roms page, we can all try and help u but understand u hav a custom rom that sum people use but not others like myself i hope that i was helpful as much as possible, also try to wipe ur phone to the way is was after u put the new rom on without adding any other apps then add ur game and test the game before u install ur other apps if it works then u know that one of the apps u hav added is giving u the problem
I have a Galaxy Tab 2 p3100
PAC Rom
Blackhawk kernel
I tried N.O.V.A 3, Ver. 1.0.4, and 1.0.5.The game hangs when i enter the parking lot in the first mission. I can go past that by sticking to the left wall, and inching my way in, and going all the way around. The next is when i have to the parking lot below. It always hangs, there are no Lags or graphic glitches, it works perfectly till there. How can i resolve this?

http://crk-blog.blogspot.com/2012/08/nova-3-100-compleate-save-game-android.html sorry, had another link copied xD
temporary solution
I was experiencing the same problem. The game froze just as I entered the underground parking in mission 1.. but there is a solution to it.
Just walk backward and wait aside the cars till all the dialogues are completed.
Or take the extreme left path where you will find ammo. Move through this area and game will not freeze.
warning: the game will freeze a lot many times during the mission so just follow the same step I.e walk backwards to prevent freezing.
Hi guys i'd like to tell you my problem which is is auto closing apps.... iv been playing games like worms 3 and real boxing on my Huawei ascend Y511...
And the the problem im facing is that while playing my games often (one or two others too) auto close on their own.... they dont crash but instead they just close automatically.... at first i thought its a ram issue but iv been running games like fifa 14 and dead space and they seem to run just fine...... so what kind of issue is this and how can i fix it ?
Also i would like to know is there any way to boost or amplify 3G signals on your phone ?
Another issue in facing is that apparentlt while downloading apps from the playstore it says that my device has insufficient memory... i have 200 mb on internal and about a gb free on my sd but it gives me the same error on both ...
I can still download apk files for that app and run em just fine but the playstore error annoys me alot ....
Also is there anyway i can speed up my startup and booting process and also have more ram free on my phone so it runs smoother....
Lol im sorry for these overload of questions but sadly xda doesnt have any section for my phone so yes please help wherever you can ill be really glad my phones rooted btw
