I have Xperia Active with JellyVanilla 2 rev0 [Unlocked BL] installed
Yesterday I partitioned a second partition on my sd card so as I can link apps to sd, created 1027 MB ex2 primary partitoin!
Then, It was mounted, I linked the apps and everything was just GREAT!!!
Then, I slept for about 12 hours and when i'm awake i found the apps I linked yesterday are not shown.
Link2sd couldn't mount the partion, although it could see it!!
It gives me this message:
"Mount script cannot be created.
mount: mounting /dev/block/vold/179:2 on /data/sdext2 failed: Invalid Argument
ext2 may not be supported on your device. Try FAT32 on the second partition"

Minitool partition wizard can not see the partition "although I used it yesterday to create it!!"
And now, the windows doesn't read the sd card at all!!
Please, any ideas???

If Windows can not read the SD card, then the card is probably hosed. Reboot your computer, try a different card reader / USB port. If you still can't read it, you'll have to reformat the card. Use this program to reformat the SD card (obviously, all data will be lost).

The message you have means that your device doesn't support 2nd partition in ext2 so you have to create a 2nd partition in FAT32, or eventually in ext3 or ext4. But what do you mean by "the windows doesn't read the sd card at all"?

But, when I used the usb connection between the device and my laptop, it read the sd card BUT not the ext2 partition
I think the problem not making windows reading the sd card is about the adapter

It supported it yesterday
I linked some games to sd card ext2 and I played them for a long time
When I was awake I didn't find the shortcuts nor the apps i linked and used after linking
There's something weired!

Ah, that's different! Windows does not have built-in support for ext-formatted partitions! You will not be able to see anything on the ext partition from your computer, either directly or through the phone (when SD card is mounted). You will only be able to see what's on the card from within your phone, or by putting the SD card in a linux or mac computer.

Last step I did is that I formatted the sd card by the software you gave me a link to.
BUT, it only formated 13.7 GB!!!! My SD is 16GB, so the real capacity is 14.8!
The difference is the 1GB ext2 partition I created yesterday!
How could I recover it?

Ok, you need to delete the ext2 partition. Best just delete all partitions, and create a new, primary partition formatted as FAT32.

No it can't see excep 13.7GB from the 14.8GB sd card

That's not so hard, it's just big. Wubi let's you kind of dual-boot Windows and Ubuntu, but you can uninstall it any time through Control Panel.
In any case, the ext partition is still there, and your phone should still be able to see it, if it's mounted properly.

What do you mean you formatted your phone? You reflashed the ROM?
When you partition the SD card, those partitions will stay there until you remove/change them. In order to access an ext partition on your SD card, it just has to be mounted. All of those *2sd scripts will do that. Link2SD has a menu option which says recreate mount scripts.

Is it too complicated?
That means that your phone cannot read the 2nd partition on the SD card (but you already knew that). Either the partition needs to be reformatted, the partition needs to be removed & recreated, the whole SD card is going bad, or you're using a ROM which does not support ext-formatted partitions (i.e., stock ROMs).

the rom supports it, it's not a stock rom, coz as i said before i'm using JellyVanilla JB 4.1.1
no stock JB for xperia phones yet!
also, it already supported the partition and used it yesterday!
So I think i'll try to open the sd using WUBI when it finishes downloading and installing then i'll tell you the results

You'll have some fun learning how to use stuff in linux. When you get it up and running, you'll want to use gparted to examine the SD card.
Hi guys,
My phones micro-sd card has been acting strange and was not being recognized at times by my phone. I then proceeded to put it in its SD card adapter and put it in my Mac and got an error saying the card was unreadable. I then put it in a reader on my PC and everytime I try to access the drive it gives me the 2 errors, "You need to format the drive...etc" and after clicking cancel it says that my drive is an unrecognized file format.
Recuva says it can't read the boot sector and running chkdsk gives me the message that the file format is RAW.
Just tried running ReclaiMe file recovery and it says the card is only 30.6MB while it is actually a 32GB card.
Do you guys think there is any hope? Or should I just move on?
Any help would appreciated. Got a lot of pictures and music I would love to save on the drive, plus ROM backups.

I've killed an SD card before.. not sure how.. it had been partitioned EXT3 for a rom on a desire.. then re-formatted to normal..
but the problem came months after without notice one day the camera was failing and the gallery wouldn't open..
I tried a new SD card and things were fine so I figured the SD card died
Try to use MiniTool Partition Wizard on your pc, and delete ext partition and swap stay only on fat32. if that does not work format your card to exfat. If that doesn`t work try use program "winhex"(before i used it, my computer hadnt read my card). I repaired my card 3 times these methods.
You can use this ONLY on memory card reader.
Hi all,
I recently, erased all data on my SD card (using the "Erase SD card" option in settings > storage). Once this had completed the total space went back up to 7.4GB but available space went to 0.00B! I've rebooted the phone, unmounted and re-mounted the SD card and still available space is set to 0!
What could I possibly be doing wrong?

Use a card reader and connect the SD Card to your computer, if it doesn't show up, use a partition tool to partition the SD Card, such as MiniTool Partition Wizard.

Thanks for the help. What an absolute ball ache though! Why is the "erase" option included if it's going to cause these issues? Would have been better off deleting each folder manually.

In order to use another card in the phone, the card was removed and 'forgotten' in the phone (yeah... not very smart...)
I have already come to terms with the fact that my data is now lost forever, since the key for the encrypted data was deleted. I'm trying to reformat the card so I can use it again.
The problem: I can't format the SD card.
I've tried the following solutions, which did not work:
- Try to format the SD card using the phone. -> this gives an error message.
- Try to format the SD card using a computer:
The card doesn't show up in explorer, so I worked around using EaseUS partition master, when I try to wipe the disk, or when I try to delete partitions, I get an error. When I do a surface check, the program crashes.
- Try to clear the SD card using DiskPart, which gives a 'Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)' error.
What else could I try?
If you format your SD card directly from a PC, your choices are NTFS (which an Android device can't read) or FAT32 (inefficient & doesn't support files greater than 4G).
The best way to format an SD card is using the official SD Card Formatter from the SD Association:

This will format the card as exFAT which is supported by Android, while maximizing storage space.. Download, install, format, enjoy!

I've tried the SD card formatter you recommended. However, although the card is recognised by my computer, it is not assigned a drive letter for some reason (I've tried to give it one using disk management, without success (it basically gives a cyclic redundancy check error every time I try to do anything with it)) and it doesn't show up in explorer. It follows that my card is not recognised by the formatting program, and so I can't get it to work.
My hypothesis is that the phone has formatted the card so that it cannot be read by my computer anymore and then threw away the key, so that it cannot be read by anything anymore. (which really sucks, because there's probably nothing wrong with the hardware of the card, and yet I'm going to have to throw it away if I can't get it to work)
Any other ideas?

I'm quite keen to get this issue resolved, since if I don't I've just wasted some money...

Try SD formatter for Windows, it has some tools to diagnose/repair SD cards.

I have a problem with Link2SD which I hope someone knows an answer for. My setup looks like this:
Hardware
Galaxy A3 (2017) - SM-A320FL
SanDisk Ultra MicroSD (64 GB)
Software:
Android 8.0.0 (A320FLXXS3CRK1)
Newest TWRP for my phone
Newest Magisk

How I setup the partitions of the microSD
First Partition as FAT32 (Primary) with a drive letter assigned. Second Partition ext4 (also Primary) without a drive letter. MiniTool Partition Wizard was used for this process.
Also tried a few variations of the above like making the second partition ext2 or setting the first partition to active but in the end it all made no difference
Now the strange part ....
The partitions are properly detected when I connect the microSD to the PC using a card reader.
The first partition is also detected as external memory by android and I can use it like every other SD with one partition
Link2SD is also able to detect the second partition, mount it at start and link apps to it
The problem is that my PC wont detect the sd card when I connect the phone to it. When I reformat the SD back to one partition the SD card is detected without a problem (explorer showing the internal memory aswell the external memory)
[*]Sometimes the card is also shown as not detected in the default samsung file explorer even tho the apps moved to the sdCard are stil working
Does anyone have a clue what is happening here or what I am doing wrong?

I am having the same troubles with my a320fl when attempting to use 64gb sd card partitioned with fat32 and ext2/ex4.
Once I enter the card in the phone and restart it doesn't register on the phone.
I hope someone else can help us!
