[Q] Odin And Official Android device multimedia files. - General Questions and Answers

Hi, I posted in "ask any question. Noob friendly" but no one helped me out. So I reconsider opening up a new threat here. I have two questions to ask.
1. Several days back, I noticed that when you reinstall Android OS (clean install or down/upgrade OS) using Odin software, the COM port's number in which the device is connected to Odin keep increasing, is there anyway to get it back/reset it to lower port? Example like COM3.
2. The other thing I noticed is.. When my galaxy tab 2 7.0 P3100 was rooted I might have deleted the official video and song. But when I reinstalled to official stock rom (P3100XXBLH2_P3100OLBBLH1_P3100XXLH2_HOME.tar.md5) using Odin, those 2 files are still not recovered. Is there any way to recover them?
Thanks..

Can anyone help me?

[Completed] [Q] Problem with Samsung Galaxy Player 5 (YP-G70)

I'm using international model and tried to upgrade my deivce since most of the apps don't suport the old android version the device was using. So I tried flashing it with ODIN and after restart it lost the connection to ODIN, and now it happens every time I'm trying to re-flash it. Any ideas/help/solutions?
Thank you in advance. (Also I'm sorry if this doesn't belong here)
Hi,
A few things. Try another cable. Another USB port on computer. Another computer even if possible. Another Odin version maybe. It could be a bad download of the firmware file. And lastly, make sure you end any process of Kies running in your computer task manager.
If none of that helps, you need to ask for help here,

Good luck!
Thank you. Thread closed.

[Completed] [Q] Biggest mess up with root ever! GT-P5100 now a GT-3100

Let me first explain the thought process that went on before this all happened:
I wanted to stream my Spotify from Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 GT-P5100 to my smart TV via BubbleUPNP. But I couldn't do this for a number of reasons: my tablet wasn't a rooted device or running Android 4.1+ or had the Xposed framework. So I set to work trying to root my device and upgrade it to 4.1 in the process.
I used Odin to root my device and install the Xposed framework. This all went very smoothly and was impressed.
But the biggest error of all came when I tried to upgrade my Android version by Odin to about 4.1
+.
I managed to get what I thought was the correct ".tar" file. But part way through I was faced with an error message saying "firmware upgrade encountered an issue" so I tried using Samsungs own "Kies" to recover my device. But I soon found out this would be no help because "gt-p5100 does not support initializing." so this application was useless. I then done a bit more digging around on the internet and found out that I can simply restore my device with the correct file on Odin again.
I don't quite know exactly what happened next but I'm presuming I made a ridiculously stupid error and downloaded and loaded the wrong file onto my device. My device now thinks it's a 7" "GT-P3100."
With the tablet being completely useless because the touch screen no longer works because of the confusion between the models and I cannot find the correct files to load onto Odin for it to work either, mainly because I've given up on things to even search.
I am asking this because I've tried for hours with no luck and need help restoring my tablet back to a "GT-5100" so I can then root it on Odin and upgrade the OS to 4.1+.
Please also note I could not simply upgrade my OS by going into setting/about device/etc.
I can see how this stupidity can being funny to others but my simple accident has cost me dearly and I would appreciate some help from other.
Thanks,
Mike.
Hi,
Normally flashing firmware from another device that's not yours is a brick, especially with Samsung.... But hopefully because it's another tab 2 firmware, you can fix yours. But definitely exercise caution in the future.
The place most are getting Samsung firmware, especially older models is sammobile website.
Other than that, any links I found on XDA for it are dead.
You obviously know how to flash with Odin, so try sammobile and find your correct firmware.
If you have further issues, you should ask for help in your device section, here,
> Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 > Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck!
Okay I was worried it could be bricked, but if I managed to get an error message on an install to then be able to simply change the model with the wrong file, I hoped I could almost mess up an install to get back to that stage to then be able to completely re-install my original correct files.
Thank you I will try Sammobile. I think that might've even been where I got the wrong file from in the first place.
Thanks a lot for your reply it fills me with hope knowing there might be a way to rectify my mistake.

[Completed] Galaxy Note 3 Root - Odin stuck at Cache.img

Hi all,
I decided to root my Exynos International Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900) using Chainfire's CF-Auto-Root, using the packaged Odin. When flashing, the progress bar gets stuck a quarter of the way on "cache.img". I wait until the process indicates FAIL in Odin and reboot, only to get a BSOD ("Firmware upgrade encountered an issue").
I've seen many people complain about this in CF's thread. I've tried changing cables, ports, even computers, Nothing. I've rooted a couple phones before and this is the first time I'm stuck to the point I need to create a thread... My main goal now would be getting my phone working again as I haven't made a backup :/ A factory reset would be out of the question...
Some people said it might be related to USB debugging. To be honest, I forgot if I left it ticked or not (I sometimes use it), and since it wasn't indicated on the guide I assumed it would be fine. I can't access the phone so I can't change that.
Any ideas ? Feel free to ask about any details I might have left out.
Thanks!
Hi there,
I see that for the moment isn't a proper way to root your device but you can follow this threads for more info:

Galaxy Tab 2: Need Stock Firmware For SPH-P500

Help! Infected Tab2 - Need stock firmware .zip for SPH-P500
This is my first post. I hope that brings me some luck!
I bought two SPH-P500's from Tiger direct when they were on sale, one for me and one for my wife. Unfortunately, hers got infected by something that I have not been able to eliminate via resets or reloads with the standard tools. I have tried Odin and Heimdahl without success. Foolish me rooted the device but did NOT replace the bootloader I can't load anything but a "signed" zip file expected by the stock system. Unfortunately, the infected device is now no longer rooted as my wife reloaded things and blew away the original
I've also tried a number of obscure things like looking at the cache device/partition to see if there was a .zip left there from the last update, but all that was there was a small text file.
What I need is *ANY* legitimate >> signed zip << firmware file for this model device so I can try an adb sideload. I know there aren't many folks using this device, but was hoping maybe someone might take pity on my plight.
Any other suggestions also appreciated!
Just for the record, the malware continuously plays a short tune and refuses to be killed off. It uses up so much of the CPU that one cannot do much of anything...
here the firmware

I'm also looking for any usable rom apart from stock. I have an sph-p500 which is technically the same as sgh-i497 but found no roms at all (apart from the stock rom). any help appreciated. all rom links are broken. I know the device is pretty old but I don't want to shred it.

[Completed] Problem Flashing OS On Galaxy S4 I9500

Hello, I am new here, so if my post is wrong please forgive me.
Phone: Galaxy S4 GT-I9500\
Current OS: Jelly Bean 4.3
Cell Carrier: PURETALKUSA
Problem: Can't flash a new OS
How it happened: I accidentally deleted a core "system" (Google play store). It messed some things up and I factory reset it. It did not work, nothing changed. So I decided to just flash a new OS. Since I had the International version I could go straight to Lollipop 5.1.
After a couple of days of trying to get it to work, I could not get it. I saw Kitkat 4.4 and thought I would just try that, but still had no luck.
Methods I have tried: All of the ways I have tried to install it have been based on Odin. I have used 3.04, 3.09, 3.10.7 and maybe others.
I have used 2 different computers and multiple files for the OS(Both Lollipop and Kitkat). And even different cables. None work.
How I try and how far I go: After installing Odin and downloading the file. I turn my phone onto download (Hold power, home and volume down....etc). In Odin I get the blue light and hit start after the files are in place.
Then depending on what file I am using is the error I get, Something about PIT error (I think I would need to re-partition it, but not sure how), Or the most common is a "Complete (Write) Operation Fail".
I admit I am tired of trying things, I have no idea how to fix it and I would be so glad if someone could help me understand what to do.
Thanks in advance!
