Samsung Galaxy S2 No Power Options or Lockscreen - Security Discussion

Hey guys please help me coz in my Samsung Galaxy S2 when I press the power button and tirn back on there is no lock screen appearing and when I hold it directly turns off. I have tried factoey reseting still not helping and also the solution given in previous forum using android terminal
su
echo -n ON > /efs/imei/keystr
sync
reboot
Also DOESN'T SEEM to work but worked for many people.... Please help me

Is this after you installed a new ROM? It can be caused by insuficient or missmatched system data. Reflash the ROM, but before you do, wipe data, cache, and the system partition (Mounts>Format /system)
Sent from the Aurora Project

I have found the solution but anywayz I did not install any roms on it
1)First I have rooted my device
2)Second: Installed Es File Explorer
3)Third :Gave root access to ES File explorer
4)Then navigated to /efs / imei /
5)Then went to the properties of 'keystr'
6)Then change all the permissions ower, group, other to 'rwx'
7)Then went back then restart my device,
started to work like a Charm!

[Q] PowerAmp - UID mismatch issue - Settings getting reset

I'm having a serious issue with PowerAmp app. My settings are getting reset to default every time the program is completely closed (either by a task manager or after a reboot). Not only that, the change log and Thank you popups come up every startup after the complete shutdown. Pls help resolve.
On contacting the Dev, he says its a UID mismatch issue and it can be solved by uninstalling and reinstalling the program. However that has not fixed the issue.

Strange, I'm using the PowerAmp app and I don't experience this. Have you tried contacting the Dev again about this?
Have you tried downloading it again and then installing it?
One possibility is that when you re-install it you are restoring corrupt settings back onto your device.
Have you tried a hard reset/factory reset then installing it again to see if it works?
It's working now. I used root explorer and navigated to the dbdata folder. Then I deleted the folder corresponding to Poweramp. Since then settings are not getting reset every time I end the app using a task manager.
None of the above works for me:
- uninstalled PowerAMP
- uninstalled PowerAMP Full Version Unlocker
- Deleted sdcard/Android/data/com.maxmpz.audioplayer directory with Super Manager
- reset the phone
- installed PowerAMP
- installed PowerAMP Full Version Unlocker
Same problem! Any ideas?

You will need a file explorer like root explorer since you are rooted. You got the wrong folder. You have to first uninstall full version. Then go to dbdata folder which is above the sdcard folder. Go to the power amp folder and delete the shared peers file. After that reinstall power amp it should be fine..
@mithunjo - you are so right! Super Manager was not it, Root Explorer did it. Thanks!

im having the same problem with power amp. however i couldnt find the folder "dbdata".i evn tried to use the search feature in root explorer to locate the folder but no use!. any suggestions?
im using sony ericsson official 2.1 firmware 0.24 and am rooted
same problem here... will try... thanks!
The dbdata folder is above the internal sdcard folder. In that delete the preferences file in the power amp folder which goes something like maxmp.player..
If you don't want to spend money for the 'Root Explorer', like me, get the 'Terminal Emulator'. It's free, and will give you a terminal interface. Open the app, press the menu button and choose the option to show the keyboard. The following commands will 1) give root permissions to the app and 2) delete the settings folder of PowerAMP:
su
rm -r /dbdata/databases/com.maxmpz.audioplayer
Thats it. The folder is gone. In my case I had to deinstall poweramp before this procedure, and reinstalled afterwards. Finally I can use PowerAmp again.
I've also had that problem (Galaxy S with Darky 8.0 (JPY) ) and deleting dbdata\databases\com.maxmpz.audioplayer helped me. I didn't even have had to uninstall and install PowerAMP.

Tried deleting only the folder with RootExplorer without uninstalling and then reinstalling PowerAMP.
I'll see if this is enough.
I have a rooted htc Inspire running CyanogenMod nightlies.
I have used RootExplorer to look for dbdata and have not been able to find it. I've been through every file with RExplorer and have also used it to search for the file. Both ways I have come up empty. Am I missing something?
And I did read the enitire thread first
Thanks for any help.

[Q] PLEASE HELP! Restore System App execute settings

Hey guys
Hoping someone can help me sort out my Galaxy Ace.
I've royally f**ked up my phone while trying to re-install stock email.
Followed some instructions and accidentally disabled execute rights to system/app folder using root browser in ROM Toolbox.
Phone is now in a boot loop.
I've updated from sd card to installed Clockworkmod recovery.
So far I've tried wiping cache and dalvik cache with no joy.
Also tried fix permissions, still nothing.
Hoping you can guide me through a fix for this.
Would greatly appreciate your help.
Cheers
Paul
factory reset it
tried that - not working either

Show us the instruction.
What exactly did you do?
Can't you connect your phone to the computer, maybe during recovery.
Open adb shell, and fix the permissions ?
chmod +x /system/app ?
Might have to remount system readwrite before that.

[Q] Cannot Delete Apps or Google User Account even after flashing ROM

Hey everyone,
My friend gave me his tab p1000... but I cannot seem to remove apps or even google user account even after i have:
- Reset the phone
- Flashed stock rom v5 ROM with ODIN (with repartition and also flashed dbdata).
- I also tried NAND Erase All, which soft bricked the tab but i was able to get it back.
Even with all this, all the apps are still there.. when the tab loads up.
The Apps keep crashing every minute though.. so they are not stable.
--- Things Note:
1.
After flashing stock rom, when it enters recovery i get the following errors:
part(1): Checksum error
MMC verification failed
and
cannot find: /preload/app folder
2.
There are some weird files under the internal memory root folder that cannot be deleted.
Well you can delete them but they come right back up when you remount the internal drive(16gb).
Also the application folders cannot be deleted.. they reappear once you remount the internal drive.
the files are:
- Copy of Shortcut to (1/2/3/4).lnk
- glweax.exe
- glweax.scr
- x.exe
- xxx.dll
- zjroic.exe
- zjroic.scr
-xjdqob.exe
3.
There is an app called - Perfect Applock - that might have something to do with this.. Not sure.
I have read in forums, to put the phone in flight mode and restart it, then try to go to app manager within 30sec to uninstall the app.
i tried that but it still doesnt work. the App still exists..
btw, i have also tried removing the apps via app manager, that doesnt work. although it says sucessfully uninstalled.
when you reboot the tab, all the apps are present.
4.
I installed root app using superoneclick so that i can install a root explorer app - but it kept crashing.
---
My guess, is that there is a virus, or something that is recreating the apps. or not granting access to where the apps are stored (guessing in /preload/app).
i have read forums and some people said it might be a faulty internal storage.. i did the checks(some commands using adb) to verify but it was negative.
so i dont think the internal storage is bad.
Right now i am stuck... the tab has stock rom v5 installed right now.. not rooted and with 3e recovery.
any help will be greatly appreciated.. thank you in advance.
you are in wrong device section.... go to this Samsung Galaxy Tab section for better help

btw, those file that you mention is a virus... so check your pc.. it might already infected your pc with it...

HI Android-Andi,
thank you in advance!
I don't now exactly why...
my friend has deleted some files to free up memory. And I'm afraid it has deleted something wrong!
How can the android OS allow you to delete system files!?!?
I can enter in recovery mode and this is all that I can see:
Android system recovery <3e>
Volume up/down to move highlight;
power button to select.
reboot system now
apply update from ADB
apply update from external storage
wipe data/farctory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
# MANUAL MODE #
-- Apply Multi-CSC...
Applied the CSC-code : ITV
Successfully applied multi-CSC
There are some software or something to get into the file and recover the files?
Thank you

Are you rooted? If you're not rooted then you're not able to delete system files. Do you have a custom recovery? Those options read like stock recovery. Do you know which files he deleted because if he deleted data files then it's gone. There a couple apps out there that able to recover deleted files, Undelete is one, Hexamob is another, but these require root. And these specialize in stuff like pictures so not even sure they would help you out.

Hi njstein,
thank you for your reply.
This tab is not rooted and doesn't have custom recovery.
He doesn't remembre which files has deleted...a lot of files about app...but like you said, if the tablet is not rooted, is impossible to delete system files!
I know that there are a lot of apps for recover deleted files, but I am afraid to run the system restore...I don't know if this operation format the partition at low level or not...and I think that all these apps require root.
I looked for this thing and there isn't a chance to mount the tab as a drive (E:\ F:\ ...) and for this reason you can't use software normally used for recover deleted files in windows.
I am really disappointed with Android operating system.
People say that Android is an open operating system, configurable, customizable .... But I have found everything closed as are microsoft and iOS.
don't cry
Don't cry and shout that you're disappointed with android system. It's not android fault, it was your friends fault.
If i were you, try to search a custom recovery flashable via odin (cwm or twrp). When you have already cwm or twrp try to clear dalvik cache and wipe cache partition and reboot.

Since you're not rooted then you should accept the files are gone and whatever data you need off the Tab is inaccessible. Have you tried wiping just the cache and reboot? If you have and that accomplishes nothing, then I would suggest you do a factory reset and start over. If you go that route, do a little research and find out what steps need to be done after reset to get the Tab back working. I forget if your tab is just the wifi version or from a carrier with data. I believe if you have data, there are steps after a reset to get everything in working order.

System file is reset after every reboot

I am trying to install a system app on my HTC One M7 dual SIM m7dug 5.0.2. Bootloader is unlocked using htcdev.com and phone is rooted (flashed supersu with TWRP). Checked that the phone is rooted with 2 apps.
Whenever I make changes to system app or even system bin, they disappear upon reboot, tried multiple apps ES file explorer with root explorer and system rw permissions, tried root explorer and a bunch of other dedicated apps.
Nothing works. If I move a file from apps to system apps it is completely gone off of the phone after I reboot.
Would really appreciate any help!

After converting to system app, boot to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik then reboot. If you're rooted correctly and have your root explorer on and r/w permissions mounted, it should work correctly this time.
I DO NOT PROVIDE HELP IN PM, KEEP IT IN THE THREADS WHERE EVERYONE CAN SHARE
