Hi
I am thinking of rooting my Miro,
is it possible to restore to factory default state if anything should go wrong with the rooting?
eg. can I...
1) reset from within the useable/working phone?
2) reset from a 'frozen' state by using buttons?
my main concern if the phone freezes and doesnt startup or something...can it be fixed in that state?
thanks
Yes. You are safe if you dont unlock bootloader. Going back to full stock? Pc companion - repair. Just make sure the battery is charged full.

sorry im noob too rooting etc (although I have jailbroke an ipod before) so have a few questions I hope you wont mind?
- wont I need an unlocked bootloader to root the phone?
what does having an unlocked bootloader allow?
do I need unlocked bootloader to use custom rom? (should I avoid custom roms?)
my phone is running on 11.0.A.5.5 and ive read 11.0.A.5.8 is out and is much better...it says i have latest version.. why is that do you think?
has that 'unlockroot' tool been verified as working on miro?
the main reasons for rooting is because it will allow me to access apps that give better CPU and Memory management - ive read that custom roms can improve performance and battery life...but i know little about them? - the phone works fine but lags a bit due to low memory, ive had to disable battery draining apps like google+, Google Maps and Google Play - I use Juice Defender Ultimate which is great but it can also toggle 2G/3G for me with a rooted fone...something im playing with at moment as iam finding 2G better for me..
thanks
No. You can root a locked bootloader phone without unlocking it. Unlock allow you to install custom kernel (cm/other) and loses your warranty with sony (you gave them your imei). There are rom for locked, like paradox. You can try updating to newest version first via pc companion - repair. Then you can root it and freeze more apps (facebook, playstore) and manual unfreeze if you really want to use it. You can get more free ram this way. And that was from stock rooted phone.
Im using greenify and link2sd (freeze) to get maximum free ram for no lag gaming.

good news:
There is no unroot required to upgrade your firmware..
not so bad news:
you would lose the root, so need to root your mobile again, no glitches there.
secondly, your deleted bloatware system apps will be back again which like the last time you need to delete again..
Enjoy the feel then !

Yes, you can upgrade without any hitch.
But the drawback is that the phone will be un-rooted again and all the bloatwares will be back.
can we factory reset rooted xperia c

Ok, so I unlocked and rooted my D2212 following the instructions on this thread, and now when I reboot my phone all the shortcuts (or icons) to the apps installed on the SD card disappear. I can still open and use them normally using Play Store or Link2SD, but I would rather not have to go through that everytime I wanted to open some app. Usually I have to keep on rebooting until they show up again (couldn't notice any pattern), but now it seems that no matter how many times I reboot, they just won't come back.
Does anyone have any ideia on what is the problem/how to fix it?

Hmmm, ok thanks, I'll try that and get back with the results
I updated to 4.4.4 (after a LOT of difficulties) and it seems to be back to normal. I should note that I lost everything on the update, including the root but I don't know, I don't think I need the root for now.
Thanks again, vinay!
