just in time for Xmas
If, and when, we get the ICS kernel source from HTC, will this help us develop jelly bean roms for our device? Are the kernels going to be built with like the same infrastructure so that ICS drivers will work on the jelly bean roms?
that is an excellent question. I was wondering the same myself. My guess is that we would have to have a new kernel source for Jelly Bean due to the new "project butter" stuff. It involves different gpu and cpu rendering that I can't help but to think that it requires a completely reworked kernel.
Edit:
Yeah I forgot about butter.
But we'll have kernel source and JB source too so we can compare them.
this is the link for jelly bean

Following the announcement of Android 4.3, the new Nexus 7, and the Chromecast, Google just started pushing the Android 4.3 open source code to AOSP (Android Open Source Project) under the tag android-4.3_r2.1.
