What knowledge should I have to be a professional android rom developer or porter??
Sent from my AMOI N828 using xda app-developers app
I would start by looking through all the threads here in xda u, once you have done this you'll be well on your way. I don't want to sound judgemental, but by asking a question like this within a forum filled with guides on how to, it just seems like you aren't reading and trying things out for yourself, which is the number one skill to have if you want to "be a professional ROM porter" as you put it
Although I would advise making that a profession...

No the rom is on its way, we just need some more donation/chip in for the dev team, check the infuse development page channel, you can chip in so we don't need to wait more time. Welcome on the android community. If you have question just ask they are willing to help. Jeep checking the site everyday. So you can learn more thing about android, I learned so much thing here I'm also new to android.

Yes you need some knowledge, and at this stage you can't really help.
Learn by reading guides and tutorials.

thanks,i serch it already. it seems to be hard .i just want a Dev who is also interest in sense to teach and help me.^O^
Sent from my GT-I9003 using xda app-developers app
That will be hard to get here, try and learn it yourself, if you don't know ANYTHING yet, buy books and learn, read guides, and try to apply what you learned.
And the correct term is not transplant, it's "Porting".
We have a lack of devs here anyways, and everyone seems busy.
which book should i buy ?would you like to introduce some book for me. thanks a lot

Probably been answered before but I couldn't find an answer. What is the difference between the two forum categories.

Original isn't built off anything but source. A lot of devs use CM or AOKP as a base. Original devs don't...

I gotcha. Thank u for the reply. Just asking cause there isn't much in tgr original forum. So basically most development isn't original or based off someone else's work. Thanks.

That sounds a little harsh. Lol.
CM has a tried and true base. Many devs use the root66 debloated as well. Anytime you use another base, it can't go in original.

It can be original in the sense that they created some features or something unique about it, but if it's using another ROM as a base rather than something created from source, it belongs in the Android Development forum.
No need to discredit that thread of being devoid of talent

Agreed. Especially on the last part.

Hey. I wasn't trying to be ignorant. I know the devs that use an original ROMs base are extremely talented. I came off the wrong way and was not trying to discredit anyone. These devs have an amazing ability that I wish I had

Right! No Doubt, wish I could have their ability to develop the way they do!!
First let me say this I'm not sure of this is the right area to post this but I want to start developing for this phone. Is there anyone that can point me in the right direction for what I need to start doing so, and how to go about using the things I need. I'm more than happy to do messaging or using google talk to message back and forth quickly what ever it takes. I'm extremely interested. Thanks in advance

Check the chef central, android hacking and app development forums
And you haven't specified which phone you mean - this forum is linked in several forums

So I am taking it, that no one is supporting the d2vzw variant? If so, why and where can I learn to port? I am not familiar with porting or making custom roms...
Hero made a thread about porting US based roms, it's in the development section.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I don't see it...
Bump
If you're not familiar with how to make roms at all, then you should probably start reading: XDA University. Lot of good information there just from reading thread titles and skimming through.
