[Q] CWM: No "reinstall packages" option - Samsung Infuse 4G

I have a rooted stock Rogers Infuse that I restored from a choppy JB installation using instructions from here. I'm trying to install CWM to make a back up image of the the phone before I take a second shot at JB. I followed both methods and the youtube video for CWM and missed around a lot with the "recovery" and "update.zip" files. I'm confused about which one exactly needs to be replaced. I deleted and replaced both files multiple times by now. Anyways my main problem is that I never got that "reinstall packages" option in Android stock recovery, and always end up with the two ugly red errors:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature.
E:signature verification failed.
I noticed that when I place a custom recovery file in root and flash it with "apply update from sdcard" i only get the second error.
I hate to redo the whole odin thing without creating a backup image of the phone first. Any ideas of why I'm not succeeding in getting CWM to work ? Thanks a lot.

[Q] Seeking experienced input regarding ATT Captivate

Just used Oden to stock, TB and rom manager to successfully flash Cog. 3.04
(firebird2 kernel, JK4 modem and then speed mod kernel (for voodoo control app)), first flash. The first thing that was done (from the stock rom) after installing rom mgr. and flashing cwm was to back up current rom. I think I botched that part as when I access "manage and restore backups" in cwm, all I get is a black screen. Or did I? I did find in the "cwm folder" on the internal sdcard, a "recovery-update.zip"
Is "recovery-update.zip", my back up of the stock rom made using cwm?
This was a complete by the book wipe and no other backups of roms were done.
Cog. 3.04 was then flashed, TB used to restore apps, all running smooth. O'joy I find gotta have it "voodoo control app." Flash "firebird2 kernel" then "Jk4 modem" using cwm, silly me finds "I9000 speedmod", flash on top of firebird2 kernel using cwm., was that an Oops? Every thing working great, love the setup.
Now when I try to reboot into recovery using cwm I get an E:failed to verify whole-file signature, E:signature verification failed, I then have to reboot system now. I can successfully reboot into cwm through the power button/recovery and the volume/power button method.
1. Is this an indicative problem to the "I9000 speedmod.zip" kernel that is preventing me from rebooting into recovery from cwm?
2. In cwm, under "install zip from sdcard" > "toggle signature verification" > "choose zip from sd card" > I find "speedmod.zip".
Could it be a signature verification problem within the i9000 speedmod.zip preventing the reboot into recovery from inside rom mgr.?
I have since installed from the market, Astro, SMS backup and voodoo toggle.
This noob wants to be sure to have done this correctly, If not I'll go back to ground zero, and do it again until I do it right. I just need a little guidance on which direction to proceed. My brain hurts and is stuck in a boot loop, lol.
Total time flashing from the leaked version of 2.2 was 40 min, two weeks on and off were spent reading, setting up drivers backing up and getting familiar with phone and process.

Error upgrading to Gingerbread!

Hey guys,
Every time I try to install the "Monster_2.3.2_4.5.153_updater_Rooted.zip" ROM from Droid Life the install aborts with an error message and I have nothing left to do but to remove the battery and reinsert it. When I do that however, I get to the boot loader with an error message and I have to revert to the stock SBF and re-root my phone, re-bootstrap recovery, boot in recovery, and try again - I'm feeling lucky. I have done this about seven or eight times, nine as we speak, and so far with absolutely no success. I would really like to know if I am doing something wrong here, I have installed other ROMs with success such as Fission and Liberty.
The last few lines of error message in the installer were as follows:
...
Unmounting Systen ...
updatinig radio image ...
assert failed: motorola.update_cdma_bp("/tmp/rdl.bin", "/tmp/bp.img")
E:Error in /sdcard/Monster_2.3.2_Rooted.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
---
The Device being used is a Droid 2 Global with the stock SBF running.
And that is all that I get, this problem has repeated itself many times and I have tried installing the above ROM while having another version and ROM installed both with no success. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Have you tried to apply that monster.zip file from the Bootstrap Recovery app & choose the option to choose the zipfile?
Do you have it in the root of the /sdcard directory?

[Q] Clockwork and no backup

Howdy all, yay another newbie!
Phone is a droid 2, verizon network. I rooted it last night with the super 1click, have SU access, wireless tether and installed rom manager free version.
Flashed cwm recovery to 2.5.08, tried to backup existing rom and had an immediate reboot with no backup made. Tried repeatedly same results, reflashed cwm repeatedly same results. Tried to change the cwm recovery version, and have
2.5.08
2.5.1.4
2.5.1.3
2.5.1.1
listed. But trying to load any but 2.5.08 returns "An error occurred while downloading your recovery.
I tried going into CWM recovery through rom-manager but it immediately reboots back to normal, no recovery screen.
I entered into normal recover and tried to run the 'update.zip' which returns
E:Can't open /cacherecover/command
Install from sdcard
finding update package
opening update package
verifying update package
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
installation aborted
I wiped back to factory through the normal recovery screen and started fresh and am getting exactly the same as before with everything above tried again.
I have not tried installing a new rom, don't want to go that deep until I know I can reset if needed.
Any help or other ideas? What I've been able to find by searching hasn't resolved the problem yet.

[Q] Blue recovery menu keeps appearing when trying to get into CWM?

I'm a total noob at this, but I tried to flash Serendipity onto my phone. I followed the instructions and rebooted into CWM recovery but it brings me to the blue recovery menu instead. What do I do?
Have you dealt with the 3e recovery yet? If not, you need to and the you go to reinstall packages in blue recovery and reinstall zip 2 times. Then I believe it will go to red cwm and you go to install zip and find it on your sd card and flash

Just making sure; which packages am I reinstalling twice? Serendipity? Because I tried that just now and both times it said "Signature verification failed. Installation aborted."

Click to collapse
Its not Serendipity you are reinstalling twice, if you are in blue CWM the first option should be "reinstall packages." You select that option twice to boot into GREEN CWM.
Honestly, you need to read up on how to do everything before you try flashing, not trying to be a douche but, it doesn't sound like you are ready to flash just yet... HERE'S an awesome link that will get you pointed in the right direction, it will save you a lot of time and headaches, trust me I've been a noob lol
Oh wow I haven't seen that yet. Thanks! will read up on this.
No problem, I found the videos pretty helpful when I first got my Infuse, check those out too.
Hm.. I couldn't find the original recovery file, but I added in the 3e recovery file in anyway.
Afterwards i booted into CWM but it still showed the same blue recovery menu. It doesn't have the "install packages" option?

[Q] Trying to install a new ROM on Sidekick 4G

Okay, so I rooted it with SuperOneClick, and I downloaded everything onto my phone. I boot into recovery mode, and then when I go to click "reinstall packages" I get a message saying "e:failed to verify whole-file signature e:signature verification failed" and for the life of me I can't find information on how to get around that.
I noticed that when I try to boot into recovery, it's using stock recovery instead of Clockwork. How do I fix that?
