First of all i hope this is the right place because root and deodexe has nothing to do with MS2 General chat.. also i hope that This isnt double post.. as i could NOT find any solution on here or google.
So my problem is:
I cant use ">adb remount" anymore..
this is what i did.. Factory Reset, Flashed O2DE, Rooted it with z4root, Deodexed it with xUltimate till step 4, manually copyed done.. folders to my fone .. pushed them into system via "adb shell" and then rebooted.. worked fine
But now i am unable to use ADB push and remount!
I heard this is a root problem... but i am rooted.. also i did "re-root" to ensure this isnt the problem.. but NO it still fails... does anybody know this? or have a resolution!?
Thanks alot!
I've also de-odexed my Milestone 2 Optus ROM with the same tool, and it works well with adb. Can your devices be recognized and listed with "adb devices" command?
Yes of course it is listed there.. ADB works fine except for Pushing and other root commands... it seems like my fone is un-rooted.. but It is not..

Just install Droid2 Bootstrap, open the app, and click bootstrap recovery. You will be able to remount and push/pull system files again.

*?* how do you get temp root?
When you're temp root it should be possible to download ROMmanager, flash recovery and than flash loveboatcaptains ROM and than you would have permanent root...
My DesireS works for 48 hours without charging. Standby is great - you should check which app drains your battery so fast..
anyone tested this?
k am on to it.....ghna try now
btw from my previous post i realised for some strange reason every time i temp root sometimes astro and other programs work ok except music and other stuff
but n64 emu and from astro i can access mem card and play music or run a rom wierd hun then other times jus get force closes lol
yh but gna try this now
tried it but wont let me use the option without mounting the sd card first which wont mount properly
thing is rom manager the stupid thing lol is trying to download to memory card if i could get it to download to phone memory it should do it

For the card problem... have someone tray to take out and reputing in the SD? (in the meanwhile you have to keep the battery in)
yes mate if u disable fastboot and jus click root (yes i have 1.2) and dont touch anythin for about 5 mins itl reboot itself and ul have root but only temp. Yh i helg the battery and unmounted it took it out and put it bk in...did this whilst on S AND PHONE STORAGE SCreen on there it says unnavailable
disable fastboot! i miss that! thanks!
some help
I am kinda noob here for android. I have an desire S with S-ON and it seems u were able to achieve temp root using gingerbreak1.2, i tried same with fast boot off and usb debug on. But when i root it, it wont restart and after a manual restart i am not seeing superuser installed and no issues with SD card also. So do you have any idea what am i doing wrong or is it total luck!! to get a temp root?
jus to confirm ur using the apk
in between attempts restart phone.
for me 1.1 and 1.2 work
im on 2.3.3 official 1.28.401.1
when u click root it should say rooting.. etc
and if u leave it running for a few mins 5-10 jus let it run it should say something like not sure what happened there. leave it for a few mins...
at this point bring down the notification bar jus to see if phone has crashed if it has wait for it to restart dont pull battery and if the bar comes down leave it bk and click ok in gingerbreak and u shud have superuser and temp root
have a go mate if not im gna make a video of it and uploading so people can see and maybe have ideas on how to solve it x

Thanks for answering the query chwads2k8, and it worked!!! the missing link was that i had restarted without first checking for root.
So key is to check if the root is obtained before restarting.
So for the records i have followed these steps and i am running
stock android 2.3.3
Build 1.31.720.2
1. Copied v1.2 apk in a fresh sd card and installed it to phone.
2. ran the tool and clicked root
3. Message saying "Not sure what happened here..." came within like 30sec of clicking root.
4. waited for another 5-6 mins with the message on screen no crash no restart on the device.
5. Clicked Ok on the message and checked if i have a root(without a restart): SUCCESS!!!
Thanks,
I managed to get temp root like the post above, but when I try pushing the new htclockscreen from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056652

Deal breaker
I found out that i am really a noob I was thinking a temp root would be enough for me to modify some files and they will be saved Yup it was but every time I reboot my phone all the changes are gone... Have learnt it a hard way... Seems i need to wait till a S-OFF way arrives for Desire S
But still learnt lot of things
PS. if someone want google navigation (NON US) u cud probably use temp root to install hacked version of navigation

Hey guys, since I wanted the flashcounter to keep from climbing up too high, I was looking for a rooting method, that would not involve Odin.
I searched all day long and finally had luck with THIS ONE.
Works like a charm, but leaves a chinese version of superuser behind. But I guess everyone who is looking for root and makes it, should be able to change the superuser.apk (dont forget to set the correct permissions ).
To grant Superuser permissions, you need to hit the right button at the superuser prompt!
-sidenote- mine updated during the setup process, so wait till it goes all the way to 100% and installs again.
Well other than that, have fun and now I need to look into mobile Odin, because then I guess we wont need Odin anymore and can keep the flash-O-meter from climbing
Maybe someone can also create a full system-dump, so we can restore untouched partitions if needed. Would be great if someone who is new here could do so!
TWRP ADB flasher(no Odin-no flashcounter):
http://d-h.st/xde
Credits go to @gr8nole (TWRP) @Ilko (the script) @redy2006 (the package)
If I forgot you here, please PM me and I ll add you ASAP!
Hope it helps some fellows out
Oh and maybe I can find out about the exploit they are using, so we can make our own software, without having to install their software

Thanks for the post this worked once I remembered to set to USB bugging mode good thing I read Chinese (joking)

Nice, the value has to be stored somewhere where flashing neither custom ROMs nor Recovery touch it...shouldn't be too hard to find it - but probably dangerous...(bootloader partition?)

Try the following:
I first flashed the ROM released in October 2013, then rooted and installed TWRP.
Then:
Delete Sysscope data
Stop the process
Stop Enterprise vpn (not sure, if this is necessary)
Delete Enterprise sysscope data
Shut your tablet down,
Reboot to upload mode, enter it and check for the change, then hold the powerbutton for 10 secs to reboot and also check in Settings-About phone-Status
And please report back

Did it but it didn't help, would probably have been too easy . Still 2 Flashs and both on "custom". In settings, too. I don't care too much about it, but if you'd like me to try something else, I'll try to help.

Does this mean that my current sm-t210 (in fw 4.1.2) which is stock and non rooted can be rooted without losing warranty ?
and the mention about a chinese superuser is easy to "repair" and get back my French status ?
Or what about this other method from Ironman38102:

In Cydiaimpactor, do we need to change anyoption ? (you mention "#drop supersu, etc." : do we need such options or just leave them as they are ?)
Is it the cydiaimpactor which is allowing root, or the supersu and busybox ? Those apps (busybox and supersu) are supposed to require root, but I didn't know they are used to root.

I downloaded cydiaimpactor, but It doesn't find my device. When I connect tablet on PC, the PC can see the tablet. Just in case, I downloaded some drivers (not found on samsung which apprently only lists in downloads some manuals.. but google drove me to some pages with samsung drivers) and my PC can discuss with tablet.
But when clicking "start" in Cydia, I receive an error message "no device found" and if I tru the USB/scan menu, I also receive an error message "no such device". Any idea ?
Cydia had no installer, so I unzipped all files in a temporary folder (c:\temp\cydiaimpactor) and double click on the .exe .

I'm stupid... I had forgotten to enable "usb debug".. Once enabled, I run cydia with same error, but retrying 1 minute later, it worked !
After cydia, I did not install supersu, but only rootkeeper, which detected the tablet as rooted.
What is the advantage of supersu ? Description lists many features, but are those really helpfull when usage is not to develop but rather to enable use of apps such as adblocking, security, etc. ?
Thanks a lot for your help, and bravo for having found and published ths method which allows my device to remain with "official" status !

I got the same error messages. Get Root Check, and ignore the errors, and once it's sent, see if that works. It doesn't allow you to update the binaries though, until you do the full root with the WPnomo described in the Pie thread

Reboot? It shouldn't reboot. The phone should technically do nothing until you do root checker. The way this root works, it's tethered, and gets wiped once you reboot unless you do the next steps of using wpnomo

Pie alone isn't going to give you the root that you are looking for. All Pie does is give you root access to the /system partition.
You need to go here: http://bit.ly/1sxDN9t and disable Write Protection, which will allow you to flash the SU binary that gives full root.
After that is done you need to install Safestrap ((Can be found here: http://bit.ly/1jq4WeO) Our device is the XT1080), reboot into recovery and flash: http://download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU/
Now when you boot up you will have permanent root, and root check / SuperSU should show up properly.
Through OTA?

Root survives but write protection gets disabled. So the root is basically useless.
I've never really had to use adb much before on any of my other devices. It's eating my lunch, and is frustrating because everyone is saying how easy it is. I honestly am having issues simply pushing the pie exploit to my phone. When I do, all correct directories, it gives me the adb info and shortcut stuff, definitions, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Just don't know adb well at all.

Edit: Had root on 7.0 finally. Looked like I was using the wrong sboot. I have too many...
Note: Tried to update superSU after I had everything how I wanted it. Lost root. Had to start over. Use caution...
I have gotten my phone rooted thanks for your help.
Now we need to find a way to bypass the system rw,remount freeze, which I think is being controlled by smu_protection or something like that.

I think you phone now is rooted and you can mount system as rw just start adb
write adb shell then write su it will ask to get root from your device and then retry if doesn't work with download any explorer app like root explorer and you can edit system from it

Tried it on both, including
Code:
mount -o rw,remount /system
Freezing up
Especially with Amaze. Tried to write on the system partition and it hangs until I do a fresh reboot.
Has anyone tried if Samsung pay still works after root?
Ok, I'm in this nougat rom now, but the writable system still as a dream for us. I'll go back to the stock and enjoy of my Samsung apps instead of freezing my phone. Has someone knowledge about change the imei of this device? I want root for this. Or, if you know how to reboot the lollipop rooted rom correctly, can you explain me how?

Unsure if it "works" or not, as I never use it. However... It is bothering me to add my VISA-XXXX to Android Pay after boot. I'd say fairly good chance it does, simply because this root has thus far not touched /system for most of us. I do believe that is the red flag for SafetyNet/Pay (but I dunno. It does ask me however...)
