[Q] Screen lock to TWRP v2.5.0.0 - HTC One S

I am a noob to this.
I unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP v2.5.0.0 to my One S T-Mobile.
The problem, I got is my phone is lock to the TWRF screen. I have been trying for several hours to get my phone to work again.
Could someone direct me how to get out of that screen?
I cannot load anything to the phone. Every time, I reboot it always end up with the TWRP screen.

get into bootloader and flash recovery again.
you could try the newer version (this is for the S4 variant not S3)

I loaded clockwork 6.0.3.1 and now the phone is lock to clockwork screen.

hmmm. So this "recovery bootloop" is still there.
Well if it were me I would run a RUU.exe for my device. Which would bring it back to stock and start over. quick and easy.

lock your bootloader and run the ruu.exe while your phone is in fastboot usb
open a command terminal on your pc in the fastboot folder (shift + right click, select open command terminal)
fastboot oem lock
all in one toolkit can be used here instead

I have been able to flash the RUU from HTC after relocking the bootloader.
My phone has returned to stock and working again.

I'm glad you were able to fix it.

[Q] Phone can't boot after kernel flash

Hello,
So I have a rooted HTC Desire S with Hboot 2.00.0002, unlocked bootloader and 4ext touch recovery. After a couple of failed attempts of flashing the MIUI rom and nandroid restoring it, I lost the ability to connect to 3G after the fourth attempt. So, I tried to flash a new kernel on it to see if it would solve anything. It didn't, whenever I boot up my phone it hangs on the HTC logo, then reboots a little while in 4ext recovery mode.
From here I again tried to nandroid restore, but with no luck.
How do I get my phone back to working? (what I had before was rooted stock rom)
I have tried these two kernels: http://bit.ly/ozxbWr (HTC-Kernel-2.6.35.10) and the Reaper 3.0 kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433816).
Thanks.
Alright, found the problem. For future Googlers here is how I fixed it.
So, first I downloaded a custom rom for my phone, MIUI. I placed the zip on my micro-SD card (I have a converter so it will fit into my laptop) and booted into 4EXT recovery. I guess you can use ClockworkMod Recorvery aswell.
In here I picked "choose from SD-card" and picked my .zip file and installed it.
After installation you boot into the bootloader (Volume Down + Power button) and go into fastboot. While in fastboot you plugin your USB-cable.
Set up ADB and Fastboot with this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1272595
Now go back to where you downloaded the custom rom to and extract the boot.img file to the folder where adb.exe and fastboot.exe is.
Upon up a cmd in your folder where adb.exe and fastboot.exe is in (Use Shift+Right click, pick "Open cmd here").
Now write exactly the following
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
.
Press Enter and let it do it's job. When it's done you can unplug the USB cable and restart the phone as normally. The phone will now function again.
Did you unlock your phone with HTCDEV? If so then it is extremely well documented that you have to flash to kernel separately.

Cant boot into recovery...HTC screen only

I attempted to place a ROM on the phone using CWM recovery and something messed up. Now, I can boot into screen that says fastboot, recovery, etc. However, when I select recovery, nothing happens. Anyone point me in the right direction...im back to using my Blackberry!
From fastboot try and reflash recovery I would highly suggest twrp over cwm since twrp officially supports the one x.

This is where I am stuck. Unfortunately, I'm not all that familiar with Fastboot. When connecting the phone to the PC with a USB, I see that the phone says Fatboot USB. From there I'm lost. I've not been able to find a guide that describes how to install a ROM using fastboot. Lots of posts says that it can be done, but none describing how its done. Anyone pointing me in the right direction?

My Bad...didnt have the img file in the platform-tools folder.
So I've tried flashing the TRWP img and when I reboot into recover, I get the blue and black Teamwin splash screen. then it reboots and stays permanently on the HTC splash screen.
After I flash the clockwork img file and reboot into recovery, it reboots and stays permanetly on the HTC splash screen.
Any suggestions?

Sounds like a bad flash or corrupt recovery inage. Go to the play store and download goo manager and install twrp from goo manager instead. See if that fixes the problem.

For my AT&T One X I fixed it as you stated
Booted into fastboot
Used command window to relock bootloader:
fastboot devices <enter>
fastboot oem lock <enter>
Restarted and rebooted into fastboot again
Ran Stock Rom RUU Program from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1649658
Put me back to a working stock phone.
Re-rooted and re-unlocked bootloader
Installed TWRP this time! Thanks for the help! :good:

It's just an exe. Boot your phone into fastboot mode. Your computer will recognize that it is plugged in in fast boot mode if you have the HTC driver installed. Then open the exe on your computer and follow the instructions on the screen. It will take about 15 mins for the whole process and your phone will reboot several times.
Also make sure you use twrp recovery instead of clockwork if you re-root!

I cant seem to find a stock Rogers Ruu...will continue searching. Anyone out there have it?
http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27882810#post27882810
Finally got it working...the above link is what worked. Here is the summary...
I was having this same problem and it took a while before I could get it to work. Try opening a command window in the same location of your adb tools.
First, make sure you're in fastboot mode, then type 'fastboot oem rebootRUU'
Next, make sure you have the .zip RUU file in the same folder and type 'fastboot flash zip XXX.zip' (replace XXX with whatever it's called, of course)
Now, you can see what is actually happening when you are flashing the RUU. In my case, there was 2 points where it told me to "re-flush image immediately" or something like that. When I ran the last command again (fastboot flash zip XXX.zip) it went a bit further each try, but it took until the 3rd try before it was successful.
Hopefully this helps you out!

do this:
1.Put Rogers stock zip (keep it in zip form) in your platform-tools folder (you need to download Android SDK). This is the rogers file I downloaded...http://rapidlibrary.com/files/pj83i...elease-254934-signed-zip_ulc8eyefx8i89on.html
2. Boot phone into fastboot (hold power button and volume down key)
3. Used command window to relock bootloader by doing the following:
use command window to get to location on your computer where you have saved SDK stuff, continue with command window to the platform-tools folder then enter the following commands:
fastboot devices <enter>
fastboot oem lock <enter>
Phone will restart and reboot into fastboot again
4. type 'fastboot oem rebootRUU'.
5. Next, make sure you have the .zip RUU file in the same folder (see step 1) and type 'fastboot flash zip XXX.zip' (replace XXX with whatever the rogers stock zip is called, I changed it to "rogersstock.zip")
Phone will reboot to a HTC screen. If you see "re-flush image immediately", repeat fastboot flash zip XXX.zip command. You may have to do this 2 or 3 times.
After doing this, I was able to download and install the Rogers firmware update
BTW...I didn't discover any of this stuff on my own...I researched a bunch of different posts and put it together. Hopefully, someone else finds have all this in one post useful.
Hey guys, AT&T One X unlocked
I'm having a similar problem, been following the wiki exactly and when I flashed CWM recovery and it says it was successful:
F:\Users\Ryan\AppData\Local\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>fastboot flash re

sending 'recovery' (5742 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.890s]

OKAY [ 1.480s]
finished. total time: 2.380s
When I select recovery it brings up the HTC logo and says in red text "This build is for development purposes only. Do not distribute without HTCs written permission... etc" after about 10 seconds the device boots up as normal.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

What you are doing wrong is flashing the recovery for the wrong phone. Any file with "enveavoru" in it is for the international (Tegra3) version. Our phone is "evita".
Only install things in our Dev forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1541
To see everything in an organized list, go to my index: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
Also, TWRP is recommended. CWM does not officially support our device, and therefore is just a port, and buggy. TWRP officially supports our device.
im getting the same error and im using the recovery ending on evita

[Q] Latest root method for 4.1.1?

I just picked this up for a back up phone and looking for the latest way to root this version.
I've noticed a few one clicks and some others using SDK but a lot of these seem to be old threads that have not been updated for this version. I need someone's help in pointing to the right tutorial for 4.1.1 stock NS4G.
I'm using the one-click-8.0 and Sabra's but every time I click 'Locked' it brings me to the Bootloader screen and I do not know what to click after that.

Stop using 1 click crap. Rooting a Nexus S takes 10 minutes at best. Nothing changed since the phone came out because it's a piece of cake to unlock a Nexus S, heck, it's meant to be unlocked.
Download and install ADB drivers
Download and unpack fastboot & adb
Connect your phone to your PC. Reboot in bootloader mode (VOL UP and PWR)
From a command line, fastboot oem unlock
On your phone, scroll to Yes, press pwr
This will wipe your phone
Reboot to bootloader again, flash a custom recovery (fastboot recovery recovery.img)
Reboot to recovery (VOL UP and PWR, then scroll then recovery and press pwr)
From within, flash su or supersu.
Tada! Just rooted your phone.
Edit: Here's a link to a guide with pictures and every necessary file linked.
http://digitalpbk.com/nexus-s/how-to-root-nexus-s-windows
I recommend using a more up to date recovery though, and flashing it instead of simply booting from it.
this worked for me above anything else:

HTC ONE S return to stock

Hello, you must have seen thousands of those threads but I really hope someone can help me. I have a T-Mobile USA One S which has been sim unlocked. Several months ago I decided to root it. I got the One S pack with the TWRP. However not long after I realized that all of those custom ROMs and operations weren't really my cup of tea mainly because I couldn't install the Jellybean system update. When I down it, my phone automatically goes into TWRP and when I try to flash it, nothing really happens. So here's me seeking your help. How can I revert my phone to stock with the stock bootloader. Please if you can try to explain it as if you are explaining it to a 3 year old. Best regards.

Pretty easy, just have to relock the bootloader and run a RUU.exe. This should return you to stock and put the stock recovery back.
When you run the RUU.exe on your pc it will give you instructions on what to do.
If it fails you might need to also put back the stock recovery on before running the RUU.exe.
RUU_Ville_U_JB_45_S_TMOUS_3.14.531.11_Radio_1.13.50.05.31_10.30.50.08L_release_309489_signed_ICS_2.exe

To lock the bootloader.
Go to bootloader-- with phone off, press and hold volume down and press power.
with phone plugged into computer, phone should say Fastboot USB. (if it says HBoot use volume keys to highlight hboot and press power to switch to fastboot)
Console command on PC
from fastboot folder, press shift and right mouse click and select open command window here.
type
fastboot oem lock
this assumes you have fastboot, adb files on pc
in this guide it has fastboot files

Stock Recovery (bootloader needs to be unlocked)
http://www.modaco.com/topic/353006-...ch-recovery-for-the-htc-one-s-stock-download/
the SECOND download is the stock recovery
flashing a recovery,
put the recovery.img in the fastboot folder
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
you will need to rename it to recovery.img or type out exactly the name of the file you put in the fastboot folder.
You can also run the RUU.exe when your phone is in bootloader. Fastboot USB mode
(sometimes helps)

[Q] Where has recovery gone?

no access to recovery
I've got big problem. My One Mini is fine until I try to go into recovery. It refuses to go there.
I get fastboot and bootloader menus fine. It enters bootloader, but if I try to go into recovery, it just goes back to the main bootloader menu.
The problem started when I flashed CWMRecovery. Fastboot and adb recognise my phone, and accept commands, but when I try to fastboot flash recovery in it sends an error message. File not found.
I tried " fastboot boot recovery.img" but that just froze the machine .
When I try to get into recovery from rom manager or ROM toolbox pro, it takes me to the fastboot menu, not into recovery, and we're back to square one, as above.
Running android 4.3 Sense 5.5 software 2.12.401.1 Supercid 11111111
rooted and unlocked
To get the phone to work again, I have to hold power down for about 10 secs direct from fastboot/bootloader...may have to do this several times before it boots into Android.
If I turn power off from bootloader, it returns to bootloader when I power up again.
If I don't turn the phone off, once in main application, it's all OK.
Ho hum.
As I say , it works like a dream until I want to go into recovery.
Any ideas, please?
Thanks

The correct command to flash the recovery is
Code:
fastboot flash recovery your_recovery_image.img
see also: wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Doc:_fastboot_intro
Booting into recovery should be possible with
Code:
adb reboot recovery
I didnt tried CWM on the Mini, but used it on my old Marvel. I'm satisfied with TWRP for the Mini.

Yes, thanks. I know the commands should work...but that's the trouble..they don't!
I can get into the recovery menu...HBOOT /FASTBOOT / RECOVERY and so on, but selecting "RECOVERY" simply sends me back to HBOOT menu.
I can't flash anything under FASTBOOT, either. I've been doing this sort of thing for several years without trouble....until now!
So come on chaps..thinking caps on , please.

The RUU wouldn't run: it reported an unknown error, but having done so, it must have done something, as when I rebooted, I had access to recovery once again...briefly! Then it went again.
Anyway, I re locked / unlocked , locked a few times, and hey presto, it's sprung back into life!
