What's going on in development? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 General

I have noticed that many ROM threads are being closed recently. What's going on with that? Can't even find a couple of my favorite.

Where do you see this..those have been closed awhile now.

Probably the GE 4.3 based. I think Google politely asked XDA to hold off for now on those...but I might be wrong.

Well I can't find SHOStock. I might be dumb or blind. But also, the Infamous GE ROM is locked. A few others are locked as well that weren't locked a couple weeks ago.

Still there

Just checked on my computer. I can see it there. But I can't see it on the XDA App... Weird. Been having a few issues with this app.
Anyways, as dlfar as locked ROM threads go, seen a few get locked up in the last week. 1 I think was because the dev was using another devs work without permission. Is this happening with most of the others?

Heavily encrypted? It may be closed-source but its not like the OS is completely locked. Look at the HD2

I'm no fan of windows mobile but it would be pretty cool to boot it up, including iOS but the fact is the source is closed on both os's so it won't be happening

Its not up to you whether someone wants to run windows 8 on their android phone. I know it wouldn't be possible but I would love to try it on the S3. Personally I prefer flashing different os's instead of ROMs. Roms can only change so much.
And yes this should be in q&a.

The hd2 was a windows phone.. Its mostly a copyright and license issue.. You'll never see a windows ROM on an android phone, only vice versa.. There was a big discussion back in the day about this when I was on the Raphael forums.. Microsoft surprisingly looks at this stuff
On a side note there is a win 7/8 launcher in the play store.. It looks pretty decent too

Yes it would be very cool; if only from a novelty standpoint. But it isn't going to happen for many reasons including hardware, licensing, IP, and the DMCA and its chilling effect upon research in a legal gray-area.

Not to my knowledge. I have been using it on my SR and my Nexus 7 from the day it was released, with no issues. What worked for me was to manually unsubscribe from all threads that were subscribed to from the old app, clear app data and cache, and then re-add all subs. Not a single issue since then.

I actually hate how much it lags. Also, if I remember it correctly, there's no way to view your posts. And when you visit a thread you'd visited before, it takes you to the first page again, which is very annoying. Not sure if this was even tested in the first place.
To view your posts, back up to the left menu, and choose "particiapted". As for the way it opens a previously viewed thread, you can go to settings and choose whether you want it to open at the beginning, go to the first unread post, or to the newest post.

well yes ....
It's just stupid that, instead of simply updating the current version, they release it as an entirely different app and make you pay for it again. I'm sticking with Tapatalk 2 until it dies.

[Q] Droid Ultra Development

Is there any development being made towards the Droid Ultra? I just got it today and was wondering if there's any roms. Another question. Does the maxx development work the same towards this phone as well? I keep seeing threads about the maxx.
Same phone, different battery/back cover. There is pretty much nothing for the locked phones development wise.

No way to unlock. Unless Moto decides to change this, we are stuck. You can root and do Gravity Box to do some tweaking.

There were ROMs for many phones with locked bootloaders. For some reason this phone has not gotten any action though.

I think safestrap works on all phones and the rom is for developer phones only
Previous droids had an option to unlock boot loaders (at least before some OTAs). Unfortunately there is no such option yet for the latest line.
My be we will start crowd founding for unlocking boot-loader like we did for root solution? =)
Is there anything for the Developer phones? I don't see anything on here. I am hoping the Developer phone revolution will hit Verizon's customers, but it doesn't seem to be happening.
