I am trying to compile Paranoid Android AOSPA 3+ from source for the GT-N8013, but I am new to this. Have been following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1863547 But I can't ask questions on the thread, cause I'm new on XDA. Need a volunteer to walk me through correcting errors (love bacon except when I see it as an error).
The guide is good but it isn't for the Note 10.1, so it is difficult translating it to the n8013.
Anybody wanna help? I will give credit to any and all who help.
Thanks,
Paul

This is purely for my own learning experience..
I'd like to try compiling SlimKat (https://github.com/SlimRoms/platform_manifest)
for my d2lte device as well as maybe adding a few features
(And yes, I know that SlimKat is already available for my device) I just want to try doing this myself...
So I know you need Linux or Mac OSX or Windows with this special program (forgot its name)
I'm using Ubuntu 14 LTS in a virtual machine
The first part I'm unsure about is which source to use. (Slim has 2 links) I know d2lte is a qcom device, but I have no idea if it uses CodeAuroraForum trees. I'm guessing yes? -Because the other link is for non qcom
If so, do I download the source from here? git://github.com/SlimRoms/platform_manifest.git -b kk4.4-caf
-And are the commands Shen using here in Terminal the same for Ubuntu 14 (He's using Ubuntu 10)? http://youtu.be/H_ReU-0w4IE
Also, how would I add something like Screenrecord from ChameleonOS like Carbon did or PAC?
I'm unable to follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2547196
as I don't understand it...
Before all of this, I will try compiling Cyanogenmod from source just so I can get familiar with this process..
Thanks in advance for any answers I recieve!
Hi!
I suggest you ask the experts at slim. They are usually very helpful with this kind of thing.... Please try asking here..

Hello xda. I am desperate for help for my custom ROM project. I am trying to port cm12.1 on my mk802iv rk3188 TV stick. But in compiling I get frustrating errors. As a newbie I need help to fix those. I will be listing errors here. If you want to help me with the entire project just pm me. I'll send you my name for Google hangouts. Any developer that helps me WILL be listed as a contributor to my project. Any help appreciated!
the sources I use

Thanks CTXz.
I currently have many issues with the audio hardware. Sadly the error log is too long to fit so I uploaded it on pastebin

Any clue?
Thanks
I am sorry if I will bump this post fairly often but I really want to achieve my project and get the education out of it
Hi Folks,
I'm trying to port B2G to my moto g3. I was referring to this doc (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Archive/B2G_OS/Porting_B2G_OS/basics). However some of the things mentioned in this doc are not clear to me. Could you please help me with the below issue.
I'd like to build the AndroidKernel from source. So where should I include the below lines? Is it in this file?
https://github.com/LineageOS/android_device_motorola_osprey/blob/cm-14.1/rootdir/etc/init.target.rc
HTML:
on early-init
start ueventd
import /init.b2g.rc
Also if I understood correctly. building the kernel from source doesn't require to unpack , edit the init.rc file and repack the kernel from the device. Could you please confirm this?
Thanks,
Arun
Hi Arun,
I totally understand your frustration with this. You'd like to contribute to the Servonk project but first you need to port B2G to your phone or buy a new phone. Since the only other supported phones are the Z3 compact and Nexus 5, both of which are still relatively expensive secondhand, you want to use your Moto G3 which means first porting B2G to it.
So, I think there are two options you have:
1. Port direct from the AOSP code
2. Port from the CM12 code.
As Gerard said in telegram, porting from CM to B2G was never finalised so may actually require more work. However there may actually be more people here who can help you since people seem more familiar with CM than AOSP (in general, I know some people are very knowledgeable in both).
I see you've posted in the AOSP 7.1.1 kernel thread. Unfortunately, for the Servonk project you currently need a Lollipop based build, so 5.x AOSP kernel or CM12.x.
It might be worth asking a mod to move this thread into one of the development sub-forums.
As you know, this is the limit of my knowledge, but I really hope you find some success, if would be great if you could contribute to the Servonk project.
Your last option is to use the desktop build of Servonk, based on Glutin instead of Gonk, but I understand that you really want to get Servonk working on your phone.
Best of luck
Good morning, I have a Samsung Galaxy s5, I would like to change the ROM for carbonROM cr-9.0 (if I am not mistaken, it is the latest version), I currently have lineageOS 18.1, the problem is that there is currently no updated carbonROM support for my device So, I would like to know how I can adapt a ROM to be compatible with my device, I understand that it is something that requires work, but I want to know the steps that I should follow to be able to adapt a ROM, things to keep in mind, that programs to use, useful links, all the information you can give me, I would greatly appreciate it.

You would have to build your own ROM using a mixture of the updated Lineage 18.1 ROM or the Lineage source code that it was built from and the carbonROM ROM or the carbonROM source code that was used to build your current carbonROM.
If you don't know how to build from source, you will have to try porting the carbonROM by mixing elements of the carbonROM and the LineageOS ROM. There are guides available that give a "rough" outline of how to port Samsung ROMs.
You can find guides and videos by doing a Google search for:
"How to port Samsung custom ROMs"
That should find some results but none of them are complete 100% start to finish guaranteed to work. It will require doing some research, reading, asking questions when you run into roadblocks along with a lot of trial and error testing and fixing mistakes along the way until you get a working generally bug free ROM.
All in all, you're probably better off just using the LineageOS 18.1 that you currently have.
