Arc Squadron (really cool game)Help psyonix get Xperia play controls support on ginge - Xperia Play Themes and Apps

Hey guys I was just helping out the psyonix team with a little beta testing and they don't really have support for our Xperia play.
So I told them to give the xplay a chance and one of the members replied
" Main issue with Gingerbread is that it doesn't actually support the standard Android controller integration (introduced in 3.1), so even if the game suppported it, the controls may not, unless we do whatever special Sony nonsense they have on their phone. "
So I know there are a lot of intelligent ppl on the xda forums so maybe you could help them out and get this awesome game working with our Xperia plays.
If anyone can and wants to help visit these forums, signup and make your post and you could also help with the testing in the beta.
http://www.psyonix.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=31
Thank you ppl I hope someone can help get this game on our Xperia Play if enough Xperia play users go sign-up they will want to make it Xperia play compatible.

Oops forgot to post the forum link http://www.psyonix.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=31
You could even just make a post asking for Xperia play compatibility..the more Xperia play users the better the chance of making this cool game work on our phones.
I've tried the beta and trust me it's addictive and really simple tooo..I love it already.

http://www.paulscode.com/forum/index.php?topic=1087.0
''Supporting the Xperia Play is quite simple (the sample code provided by Sony Ericsson has pretty much everything you need). The only potential sticking point is that it utilizes NativeActivity, which limits your app to Android 2.3 or later. It is possible to check the android version and if the device is an Xperia Play and only use NativeActivity + Xperia Play native library when applicable, but it takes a lot more logic in the code. I'm happy to provide advice for anyone who wants to tackle it, and of course Mupen64Plus AE is open-source so you can use it for reference and copy what you need.''

Okay, this actually looks really fun. It would be fun to play on the PLAY. Thanks for sharing, will head to the forums

Thanks a lot I made a topic on the Xperia Play controls on the forum quoting what paulscode wrote.
I may have been slightly negative but these devs are really awesome...I doubt they'd refuse to try.

Great work! I've always wanted to give this game a go and I really hope they can get the controls right.

Well it looks like they just ignored my topic.............
So if anyone over here wants this to happen it would be nice if you could sign up to the forum and bump the Xperia Play topic.
Thanks

What do you think? Questions for Sony about nice stuff for our community

Okey guys, maybe it's not good category, but it contains something about games, so I choose it for my thread.
I wrote some words for Sony, to ask about some games like Jak & Daxter, God Of War, Uncharted. Here it is:
Good morning. My name is Damian, and I'm from Poland. I'm fall in love with Sony things, like TV, consoles or smartphones. I want to make it better and better to make it the best. I have PS3, PSP, Sony TV, and Xperia Play and Xperia X10i, so it's not so bad . I have few questions for you, my favourite corporation.
First I wanna tell you that I'm very nice gamer - I just love games for Playstations, love Naughty Dog corp. and many many others. I have Xperia Play too (now Sony Ericsson is no more, so every "older" devices/smartphones pertains to you) and I really appreciate that you want to update your 2011 line of Xperias to Android 4.0 - it's very good gesture by You. Some games are better than other, some not. Lode Runner X is veryyyyy niceee . BUT. I know about your decision about some Playstation Certified games for Xperia devices or Sony tablets (those which have Playstation Certificate of course) - some games like Daxter or Syphon Filter from PSP - it's really good and nice, I just loved that info when I readed this first time. After that info, no more words about it - I know you're hard working on it, but I have some questions and asks for you, to get Sony equipment better:
1. Could you make some games for smartphones? I mean something more besides this PS Cert. games -> http://www.esrb.org/ . I would love Jak & Daxter serie on my Xperia Play. Is this possible? Many games from Naughty Dog with Jak & Daxter title was on PS2, but there is PSP title too (The Lost Frontier). Tell me if you planning something, if not, please tell me if you ever relase it, cause it was my favourite games serie when I was younger .
2. The second one. If you can relase Daxter for PSP, or fl0w from PS3, can you make some fully original God Of War for Playstation Certified devices? It will be awesome. Just asking, I know it's too much, but I believe you can do this - you have many good Devs for Android to finish that work.
3. And the last ask - I just love Naughty Dog, and I said it before. I don't want something like port from PS3 or PS Vita, but Uncharted for Playstation Certified devices, with worst graphic, other but awesome adventure and some good controls - gamers will love you, Sony. We love you now, but it will make it stronger.
4. And maybe one more - I told about Daxter etc. - can you be more specific, is this coming right now? How much time we need to wait? Please answer me on all possible questions.
5. Oh, nearly forgot. If you don't know if gamers/smartphones owners will love some nice games (those higher will be best I think), just make some thread etc. on your site, or on XDA (I know you know what is it ). I'm 200% sure everyone want it, cause we're gamers, and we choose Sony, cause Sony is one of the best corporation on all world. Please tell me where I can make some petition, to collect many votes I can, to show you, we, gamers, need you badly.
Best regards
Damian from Poland (Sony maniac)
PS: And sorry for my English, if I made some mistakes, my language is not perfect.
Please answer as soon as possible

I haven't get any answer for now, cause I just send my text for them. What do you think? They will relase some petition for our community, with some votes? Or maybe someone know where we can make something like that? I just want the best serie I've ever played on my Play....Someone's with me? Please reply what do you think .
I will write answer by Sony, if I get it of course. Maybe they don't reply back, we will see.....
Nice one mate I hope someone from Sony replies back !
We are all gamers and we need more GAMES from other developers for our Xperia Plays !
We are all gamers, even if we don't know about it .
Yes That'll be Cool But in the ICS by Sony KaLLed Released On XDA He said they cared about "Gaming" So sony Should Ask Naughty Dog to do it.
So maybe now someone need to do the same as me, but write for ND . We need to tell them our suggestions, maybe they don't know we need some awesome titles for smartphones. And I think making that games is possible, but Devs need to move on and keep going.
I support whole-heartedly

Soulcraft Beta

Hi Guys,
Just a heads up that a very good game called Soulcraft is in Beta and taking suggestions of what they can add or improve.
The game can be downloaded here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mobilebits.soulcraftdefault
The feedback form is here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dERBYkpRWFBlTi1zR3Z5dWVtTVhzT0E6MQ
If we all fill out the form requesting Xperia Play support is added, the developers will hopefully do it. I have completed it this morning.
This is a great chance to influence a good developer to add Xperia Play support to this, and likely all his future titles as well.
I will 'Thank' anyone who completes as you are helping the whole community!
Done... with extraordinary emphasis on Xperia Play Gamepad support
I thought this has been going for a few months already (?)
Not to discourage anyone, but I found the gameplay extremely boring.
The visuals are nice though.
If I am not mistaken.. I think this game is one of those that need Tegra II processors. I just got this on my Dell Streak 7, cause it was a new tegra game for me to get.
No, this game has a tegra version and a non-tegra version on the google play.

I know this game is not Xperia PLAY optimized, but I have emailed the developer and asked if they have plans to add it to the game in a later update. I even linked them to the "Optimize Your Game" tab from TLRtheory's website xperiaplaygamer.net
Anyway just in case people want to see it here is the game in question, check out the reviews......

I realize it's for tablets predominately. But still thought it would not hurt to email the developer. I figure it can one of three ways. One... no reply. Two.... reply but a no on the game for our phone. Three yes we will support your phone e.

No surprise here, this was the reply to my email.
"Thank you for your interest in Avadon: The Black Fortress. Avadon is designed for tablets with screens at least 6.5" large and minimum 950px by 550px resolution, and currently there are no Xperia devices (that we know of) which fit these requirements. If an Xperia tablet is released and we receive further user requests to support Xperia controls, we'll consider implementing this feature. At this time there are no plans to do so, however"
Thanks again!
Christina
The Apportable Team
I have the game for my Transformer Prime and the text would be too small to display on lower res screens.
To add support they would have to re-design large portions of the game...
The game is really well made, though. I would have loved to be able to play it on my Play.

This game also deserves Xperia PLAY support... World Of MidGard

This game also looks awesome and as I never liked Order & Chaos, this looks fun. My brother plays this all the time and he loved it.

I have been searching for a way to contact the Dev but without any luck. Should anyone find a way to do so please post here.
Also, what are your thoughts on this game?

EDIT: The only way I have found to email the DEV is via their FaceBook page.

Yeah, looks good.
Well I attempted to play this....and at the load screen after selecting my newly made character ...it freaking reset my phone due to low memory....and that was AFTER the insane amounts of freezing amd FCing....but it doesn't look like I'm the only person to have these problems either, based on the reviews I read.

Cracking Sands, a racing game was plan to exclusive for xperia play on tgs 2011.
Then, after over a year's delay,it finally released simultaneously to android and ios... forget the ridiculous exclusive, there's even no xpo at all!!
I just played it on iphone, yeah,it was a great game but i hate rubbing the ****ing screen or shake phone like a idiot! All devs' doing just piss me off!
if there's no xpo added i will never buy anything of this company any more...
So,i think all the fuxking stuff just indicates that from this year on,there's no xperia play optimized any longer,never...
anyway,here is the store link...

Ah man. No xpo.??? That's it. I'm going to get their email address and email them a complaint. WTH. Oh and I will post their email address here. Lets fill their email inbox with our voices. This is one game I wanted since getting this phone 18 months ago
Whose with me???!?!?!?!?!?!!?

EDIT: I have emailed them. Here is what I wrote:
Hello,
As a faithful Xperia PLAY user since its release in 2011. I remember the game Cracking Sands being one of the games I have been waiting patiently for 15-16 months only to find that its release is devoid of any Xperia PLAY support. I would like to respectfully request that you please consider releasing this game with full xperia play functionality as it was originally intended as a Xperia PLAY exclusive all those months ago. Please consider the many many users of this phone you have so abruptly disappointed.
Please consider releasing an Xperia PLAY optimized version that fully supports everything this phone has, gamepads, touchpads, triggers, game launcher.
Thank you for your time, and I am respectfully asking that you please release this game for our phone.
Sincerely,
Jesse

Yeah. The right trigger can be used to jump, x is for nitro, triangle is for shooting, dpads for movement. So it plays nice on our XPlays.
But I understand the other XDA members anger here. This was supposed to a Xplay exclusive & now is being released with limited Xplay optimization.

Got a reply from my email to them:
"Xperia Play is supported for in-game controls.
Steering pad to steer
"Action buttons" to use weapons
R-trigger to jump
Menu button (under the steering buttons) to respawn kart
There is no support for Xperia buttons in menus however.
I don't think we've ever said this would be an Xperia Play exclusive title, but I could be wrong. It's been in development for a while. Please let me know where we gave this information and I will have a look into it.

I realize this has been in developement for at least 18 months if not more, and I also am aware that the xperia play is an aging device. Guess when I saw that this game was released, over the Xperia play XDA forum, we were all hopefull it would support the devices gaming abilities fully. Anyways, thank you again for the reply and if there is ever any plans to update this game to fully support the phone I would be really excited to know. Thank you.

GOOD JOB man~! and take this http://thedroidguy.com/2011/06/exclusive-first-hands-on-with-cracking-sand/
This is the demo for xperia play exclusively on June 8, 2011 just like DMC4! How could they said those words?
Seems that our XP has been totally forgotten,i don't expect about the fully optimized by now. The only thing i hope is that when they could shut down the G-Sensor steering. it seriously affected the handing when using the dpad.

Got another reply, oddly it came from this Tommy guys email address rathen then Polarbit:
"Hey Jesse,
I think those articles stem from a little misunderstanding on SE's part. Exclusives are a very bad fit to our philosophy, which is fairly multiplatform-centric.
We do feel that supporting the in-game controls of the Xperia is important, since that adds significantly to the experience. Menus and stuff, not so much. A lot of work to adapt, and in the end usually works better with touch anyway.
Will forward the request to add Xperia Play launcher support to the devs for consideration.
Cheers,
Tommy

"Hello Tommy,
Thank you again ffor replying. I appreciate your prompt replies. Also, in regards to the exclusive part, I dont know why if it was never meant to be portayed as an exclusive, why ther would be so many websites claiming back in the summer of 2011 that it was exclusive.

"I think SE demo:ed it at E3 2011 as an exclusive, due to a misunderstanding on their part. All the info I can find reference this same occassion. Regrettable, and possibly something that should have been addressed at the time. Chanses are these articles would remain, however, without any reference to corrections.
Hope you'll be able to enjoy the game nonetheless.

Not that there isnt a time to be demanding, or a bit more blunt. But I felt in regards to this situation and the fact Tommy really was excellent at replaying to my emails (within minutes, literally) and given the situation with how our phone is aging... I felt that being a jerk or coming across as unappreciative of his time and the situation with the game... basically being nice and appreciative felt like it could help us get the full xperia play optimization we would love to have, rather then its current version. But again, even if it never does get updated I would be disappointed but I would also understand from their point of view if its worth updating for our phone and its upcomg two year birthday.
Here's to crossing our fingers and hoping for good news soon. Also, side note... Polarbit was the best custoemr service experience I have had from a developer.....
