Tell Me Mates What Are You Going to Say For This Guy ??? - Galaxy S 4 General

This is CNET Top 5 : Reasons not to buy the Galaxy S4

he is true.. except i didnt like point no 3

I don't see what's the problem, all his arguments are solid and valid.

At the end he also say. It was very heavy to find 5 arguments to not buy the Galaxy S4.

Points 4 and 2 are rather contradictory. "Don't buy an S4 because they look boring. 'Stand out from the crowd' and get an HTC One, just like EVERYONE else is. Or buy a Nexus, which looks even more boring than the S4."
Point 1 is of course spot on though.

The HTC One and Nexus doesn't have a expandable microSD slot and back cover can't be removed to replace battery

It's funny because he gives like 10 reasons to buy it before the first reason not to buy it. And if you keep waiting to buy the next phone, you'll never buy one. Phones are coming out by the month so just buy the damn phone.

Note 3? I don't need a tablet in my pocket.

lamest reasons ever
Galaxy S4 LTE (I9505) + xda premium

Yeah. Let's all buy/not buy a phone because of the way it looks/doesn't look Tech journalists are imbeciles for the most part (and a surprising number, particularly US ones, are reluctant to criticise Apple's products).

and more reasons not to buy this phone:
- it lags as hell
- worst low light camera phone ever

Quit whining, just put any other rom than Touchwiz on this and it is smoother than any other phone. Ok, Touchwiz has some cool features, but you'll only use them a few times, so it isn't worth sticking with Touchwiz.
Benchmarks with aosp 4.3 outrun the LG G2 so easily, which makes it even more obvious that this phone is awesome.

exactly. and @ the guy who was whining about the low light performance of the camera: 1. you haven´t ever used a galaxy s4 - the low light performance is great 2. buy a htc one with it´s crappy 4mp sensor.
usually most photos are taken at daytime.
also i love the s4´s design and performance. everything is perfect. best screen i´ve seen till now. outstanding camera. removable battery and sd card slot and it´s very light because of the polycarbonate case. also it will outperform the htc one when getting dropped completely.

You can flash Omega ROM, it is quite smooth. You can have all the Samsung features.

Oh no he has an opinion! Video was grand, valid points for him.

5. Underdog innovation: is just a stupid reason and yes, you will always find something else quite innovative in another phone. You should chose the innovation you will find the most useful... or maybe no software innovation at all and like me just use the plain Google Android OS with some improvements like CyanogenMod does.
4. Boring design: that's a subjective mater. I find the design awesome. It doesn't fly from your hands, it's slim, it's pleasing to the hands on cold or warm climate. I don't care at all about plastic like a lot of people do. I even despise metallic phones like iPhone or HTC. Also, why you should change a working design? I find awesome that Samasung Galaxy line design is improving on previous designs. If you're on the stupidity of getting status from your phone buy those exclusive designs for Android that costs thousands of dollars. You will be noticed then.
3. Samsung Galaxy S3: granted, there is not much a difference with it but I can talk from what I see in my country. The price difference doesn't justify buying an older phone, as they are almost priced the same and there are still some advantages from the S4. Battery is definitely better for start. The design IMO is also better, but that's just subjective you remember.
2. Google Nexus 5: I would have also added all the army of phones that are coming. You know, that's the universal "not to buy" reason for any technology?, there will always be something new. You won't end buying anything at all as Nexus 5 in six months will also be old and something better will be just around the corner. Just wait for the next big thing... eternally.
1. The next Samsung phone: idem 2
They do realize most of these reasons are stupid and they (almost) say it on the video.

LOL! That was pretty tongue in cheek. Great to see there is not a single REAL reason not to get the phone on his list. No technical issues, features missing, etc.

real reasons:
1. uber oversized crappy TW
2. cpu overheats fast
thats all i can think off.
1 is solved by a new rom
and 2 is solved by a new kernel with UV.
the rom/stock is just awful

LOL. That video obviously all subjective reasoning. We're buying phone because we like those phone, if we don't like the phone just don't buy it or sell it if already buy it.
And imo SGS4 is a great phone.

yep I agree its all about what suits you.
Personally I'm sick of these threads they achieve little apart from people going tribal and fighting their corner. Both phones are very good and also differant but the same so instead of rubbishing either buy what suits you and be happy with it.
oh and the number one best reason for not taking any notice of the vid is that its from May so in terms of the mibile phone world its 1984 stuff.

Captivate - Best Samsung's design of ALL time?

Everyone knows that among the Galaxy S line-up, our Cappy has the best design and built quality. At first, I was about to ignore the whole Galaxy S series just because the international version looks so iPhone-wannabe. When AT&T released the Cappy, I was really impressed with its design, and when it comes to real life I'm even more impressed with how elegant it is. The metal back makes it less er... cheap to me. So I decided to get one and I'm still loving every bit of my Cappy till today.
Samsung have just released the Galaxy S III. Some Cappy owners might feel sad because they realize that their phone is now outdated compared to new technology. But there's one thing that any other Samsung phones is inferior to our Captivate. You know what it is: the design. I can proudly and loudly say that the Captivate beats the GS III in terms of design. Personally, I think Captivate is Samsung's best design of all time. I'm not saying that because I'm a Captivate owner. Just because... it really is! The only reason holding me back from buying any other Samsung phones is their design. I love Super Amoled screens. I love their high quality/performance SoC. But their designs are just... bad. Especially when the whole thing is made of plastic.
So that's my personal opinions on the Captivate, Samsung and their designs. Post your opinion & let me see what you think
I agree and I think that's why a lot of us (myself included) are looking at the HTC One X.
I agree with you. Samsung, and some other asian companies are too conservative with the design that goes in to these products. The technology may be cutting edge, and the processors blistering fast, but if it looks like a rounded bar of soap, they've missed an opportunity. This isn't the future I'm paying for!
Design is among the most important factors when it comes to brand recognition and perception of quality. SO putting in the effort on the design side of things will distance them from the competition and make a stand out product really feel high end. That said, I love the one x. Its gorgeous in white, and that polycarbonate body is a-mazing. HTC's main design studio (called one&co) is in America right in SF.
Maybe we'll get a new design for the US this time around, too. That would be awesome. I still like the design now, but I agree, the Cappy > all other SGS designs.

This is what I'm hoping for. I probably get it either way, but damnit, the design of our captivates are just so superior. I love the way the battery cover is held in and the overall symmetry of the device (no extra thickness on one end of the phone, camera is flush with the device etc).
Honestly I would be happy if I could shove all of the SGS3 hardware & features into my captivate and keep it for two more years. Probably would have to scale it up a bit to make room for that 4.8" display though lol.

I agree the captivate has a great unique design. I just wish it comes in silver or light metallic color...

Hope AT&T can do the magic on the GS III, like they did with the Captivate. At least from what I see, all Samsung phones on US Carriers have capacitive touch button instead of plastic one so we can get rid of that ugly home button on the GS III.
Agreed!!! The design very unique and very rare in my country. Till now, every time I take out my phone people will impress. And we're lucky to have great developer still develop great rom for us.
Credit to vibrant turk. Love ur rom.

Have to agree the cappy has its uniqueness to it that makes it stand out from the rest. And the fact I'm running cm9 nightly I'm satisfied for my Android needs as of now! Just wish it would have gotten flash like the fascinate only thing I don't like about cappy.

My Captivate went through the washing machine. On month 4 of my 24 month contract.
Disassembled as much as I could, dried it out for a few days, and it powered up like a charm. Even made phone calls and data, but the battery died in an hour. Replaced the battery and all works well, with the exception of WiFi and Bluetooth. Tried to get it fixed, but several repair folk told me that the wifi and BT chip are part of the board and could not be replaced. 3 of these repair shops told me that it's only a matter of time before the phone stops working. Well, that was well over a year ago and the Cappy is still going strong.
Will be replacing it soon enough with a no-contract Galaxy Nexus. It was good while it lasted
The Captivate is by far the best phone I've ever owned because of all the before mentioned things... design, and development... wish it had an led flash as well, but still the best phone ive ever owned....
It's design is different and it doesn't feel "cheap" but I don't think that's worth losing the LED flash, front facing camera and FM Radio (even access to more custom ROMs). Just saying

I have to agree. I have a galaxy s 3 now because my cappy is on its last legs, but I loved the design of that phone. While I do like the design of the gs3 too sometimes I wish it was designed a little more like the captivate or something like that.
Ah well, maybe we'll see something like it appearing in the future. I hope so at least.

Size-wise, I think it is a great phone. All the newer Android models seem to get larger and larger, but I think for my purposes, it does not need to get any bigger.
Plus, the amount of attention in development that this phone gets is amazing. I am happy I bought one!

Do you think Nexus 4 would be a good upgrade from the One S?

So with the new announcement of the Nexus 4 and how it will work on T-Mobile's network, I've been wondering if I should sell my One S to buy the Nexus 4? Is anyone else having similar thoughts? I am really interested in the bigger screen, higher resolution, as well as the S4 Pro processor and the 2 GB of ram. The One S has served me well but waiting on an official Jelly Bean release from HTC has been a big pain, though ParanoidAndroid has helped me deal with that. I can't imagine it being supported officially when 4.3 comes out.
Just wondering what everyone else thinks of the Nexus 4 in comparison to our One S.
Sorry, I didn't realize I was posting to the General section. This should belong to the Q&A section. I tried, but I don't know how to delete or move the thread.
I feel bad for messing up.
No worries a mod will move it. But on topic yeah its a great upgrade, it has the best specs on the market right now and it's only £279 I have already decided to upgrade and we can sell are one s on eBay and get the nexus 4 for like £30 on top.

I'm actually considering the same thing. Allthough the one S is a gorgeous device with good preformance and a wonderfulll build quality. But for this price its a real bargain, and as im on a 2 year contract i doubt the one s will keep up to speed. Plus I'm afraid alot of dev will jump ship aswell (some allready are).
Pro's for getting the Nexus 4 over the one S
- Better screen, this was a mayor lackbuster for the one S
- Newest chipset, allthough the oneS is doing a great job here, there is no denying the power of the s4 pro, and the nexus has a fresh aosp on top of that.
- Huge development community behind it
Con's
- Allthough the nexus has a great camera it doesnt has the same preformance and usability (burst, 0shutterlag, ect.)
- No sense. Yes its bloat, but we can't deny the solid preformance it has nowdays, and if we look at what 4.1 did for the one X i think i rather have a fun Sense ui over a vannila blend aosp nowdays (boring).
- I think i prefer the build quality on the one S, and it looks alot better aswell.
Still with this display, preformance, newest android builds is it hard not to consider it, especially with that price. And the development behind the nexus devices are really tempting too.
I'm buying the LG nexus 4 and selling HTC One S S3 because this phone was garbage. This was my last phone from HTC.
Goodbye HTC (crap), hello Nexus 4!
I like my HOS S4 but I cant resist the S4 Pro chip and the 2 GB of ram. The only con is the lack of an SD slot like the HOS.

I really like the my HOS S4 but I'll sell my One S for about the same price of the Nexus 4.
PS: I don't care about the SD
There is just one "small" problem. It looks like in Italy the phone it will cost probably 549€ or 599€ instead of 349€ like Spain\France\Germany(via play store)...so I won't sell my One S

This pretty much sums it up. I wont buy it, as my contact lasts one year
Will probably move to it as well, main reasons are
- nexus phone therefore we get updates as soon as they are released and will be guaranteed to get them
- bigger screen
I love the one s, prefer sense to stock android, will probably have a better camera and it has way more features, prefer Samoled, better design/build etc. but HTC as a company have really let it down with support and slow updates, can't see jb hitting my phone for another 4 weeks or so....
I just need to see reviews of it first and user opinions for the audio, camera and battery life, there are reviews for the optimus g, but lg's software seems to have been very poorly optimised (software/driver optimisation is very important in these areas), although these areas still look very good anyway except the camera.
In theory the battery should be better than the s as the n4 has a next gen battery, more power efficient screen and s4 pro, the adreno 320 is more power efficient than the adreno 225
I'm tempted by it so much too just cause its a new phone lol ... But I really don't like the huge screen and I'd miss my camera too much cause the camera the HOS has is too good .. AND honestly the way it feels and the weight and all that makes me not wanna sell this ... On top of all that I think I actually like sense over stock lol ...and screw LG after the g2x I don't think I'm ever getting over that

Wow, are you me? I really do love the camera on the One S and the build quality just feels excellent; the two things that I would say it has over the Nexus 4. I like the cool metal case and just how professional and solid it feel. Like you, I also had the G2x before the One S and felt like they had screwed me over (Crappy drivers, crappy camera, crappy promise of ICS, etc.). Though HTC is not so good at delivering updates, in my opinion it is the most reliable OEM out there. So i won't move to LG or Samsung. My reason is based mostly on build quality, which kida sucks on LG and Samsung when compared to HTC.
Also, i don't really see the point in having the latest gadget. The HOS S4 will still be breathing at least a year from now, the CPU and GPU are strong enough. Plus, i don't really see how a quad core will help me on a mobile phone.
The only Nexus i really miss is the original Nexus One, the HTC Desire's brother.
You do realise that lg have nothing to do with the software? All they have done is made the phone and everything regarding software is handled by Google since it's a nexus phone.
Google said they shipped the lg design team over to Google headquarters in order to work with them very closely on the design and ergonomics of the phone.
Lg make fantastic hardware and a lot of their phones are very good as usual they are let down by the poor support and awful software.
I am really thinking about selling my One S S3 and getting a Nexus 4. I seems to be a very good phone.

I would definitely agree if you have the One S S3. It would be a significant speed bump and there probably isn't a significant con to the Nexus 4 that the One S doesn't share (non-removable battery, no SD card, etc.). I think the S4 version would be a tougher decision as to whether or not to upgrade to the Nexus 4.
Im getting the Nexus 4 the second I have the funds.

Lol, no way you will get 300 euros for a S3 one S, when you could get a S4 one S for that.
Especially if you have the black model, which has chipping issues.
Only way is if you can find someone around your area who don't have a clue about tech/android stuff.

about a week ago, my next phone was indeterminate between the HTC1, SGS4, and the Motorola X-Phone.
initially, the SGS4 was rumoured to have amazing specs, but recent rumours have Samsung nerfing more and more of these "killer specs" due to production issues(though the 8-core exynos they were originally supposed to be going with was just two switch-between quad cores of different speeds, meaning the qualcomm which is now rumoured isn't actually a nerf after all) .
Add the fact that it will almost certainly be sporting the cheap poly-carbonate shell, the S4 is not a contender for me anymore.
the HTC1's solid build will help it a lot against the SGS4 threat since many buyers base their decision more on how a phone feels than what it contains (just look at all the people buying iPhones)
biggest thing against it will probably be battery life. If HTC didn't pick up their game in this regard, then the rumoured 3000Mah X-phone may take the market.
I wish there was something more substantial than rumours to go by.

I don't expect there to be a huge overall jump in anything - The S3 was an underwhelming update to the S2 - same damn camera, pentile screen etc.
But rest assured that Samsung will have some sort of ace up it's sleeve and/or marketing gimmicky crap (Pop up play, Nature UX ,S-voice, Smart Stay, S-note, S-tits) that will devour the entire market share of the segment.
Samsung does do the basics well though - it will have microSD and I expect the battery of the S4 to be excellent and close to 3000mAh - but they have very Apple like followers now. If they include some aluminum on their chassis and call it hyperaluminum and it'd sell 10 million on that alone.
I mean seriously - they called the glossy plastic back on the S3 'hyperglaze'.

The only feature I thought that was quite clever on the s3 was the 'smart stay' thing... Pop up play I NEVER used... ever! S Voice was a pile of crap, most of the features were naff
And lets be honest... Samsung has made it's fortune by essentially ripping off apple with its design, people will jump on me for saying that but it's true. A physical home key with the other android keys that fade into the background so it looks like they're not there, similar shapes, a UI that looks extremely similar. Samsung have done well with marketing but.. not for me Each to their own I guess.

I honestly think that samsung was there for the taking at the time of the S3 - it was an underwhelming device. HTC were in with a huge chance but - like the Sensation before it - the One X was plagued with teething problems which put its performance below the GS3 as the time.
It always takes a while and 2-3 updates for HTC devices to realize their potential - remember HTC Sensation and the memory issues with the browser and the launcher? and the GPU lag? The Galaxy S2 had none of that and went on to become the people's champion. HOWEVER - after a few painful months and great dev work the issues were fixed and the Sensation went on to become even better than the S2 IMO - but it was too late.
In the case of the One X, HTC already had the best design and screen on the market but it was plagued with software/driver issues. Honestly, the One X before and after the Jellybean update were too completely different devices - gone was the overheating, the stuttery UI, the poor battery - it had become an amazing phone. But again, most people were put off by the initial problems and just went for the S3 instead.
I feel that HTC really need a solid, issue free launch for the One for it to be a success because, objectively, i don't see anything coming close to the One this year. HTC's really changed the game with the speakers and camera - and no-one saw it coming. All the One now needs is a well executed launch with no major issues and I feel the One can be THE top selling phone of the year.
Now, obviously with any new device there will be bugs in the beginning which is fine as long as they're minor and quickly addressed. Hopefully HTC avoids these issues and really takes the game to Samsung this year.
I applaud HTC for having the guts to do something different.... Samsung will just 'increase' the spec a bit over the S3 and for most people they'll be like 'OMG THIS IS THE BEST PHONE EVER' and if it does what you want then fair enough.
I really really hate how the galaxy range feels so cheap in the hand, when your spending that much money you want a premium product and I think that's why people love Apple so much... It may be expensive but you normally feel like it's worth the cost.
If you ask within the XDA community - whether anyone would cancel their orders for HTC One, answer is NO. Whoever decided to get HTC One is getting it. It doesn't really matter what Samsung shows for GS4, people will get the HTC One who already pre-ordered.
The same question if you ask outside the XDA community, then it's something totally different. As always, only thing which will push the device to consumers is marketing, promotion and brand awareness. HTC has to match Samsung's efforts in marketing. Else, many people might actually cancel the order.
Android Central is hosting "World's First Samsung Galaxy S4 Contest". Really!! And there are now close to 4000 comments already. HTC needs something to combat this Samsung marketing juggernaut.
I think HTC's deal with AOL might help them. All AOL sites are part of blinkfeed.
http://blog.aol.com/2013/02/19/aol-debuts-on-the-brand-new-htc-one/
They will however need much more than that. Expect a good review from Engadget and Techcrunch for HTC One.

I agree with the statement above. ^^^^^ Thing is, Samsung has made a name for itself just like Apple, The iPhone isn't that great, but people worship apple like they are perfect. Coming from an iOS community i've seen the most ridiculous BS ever. Following people on twitter waiting over night for the next iPhone, iPad, crappy Macbooks, when none of them are ever that great. Just over expensive and too simple. They practically worship apple and its disgusting. I can understand people going for the "just works" slogan because, well, they "just work", great. But people who are on android want way more than that. Which is why i find Android Superior and am going from a iPhone 4 to an HTC One. Even though Android IS better in pretty much every aspect, people go to apple. They were the first, so they had a head start and made a name for themselves. (Also I think android before 4.0 was bad anyways, I didn't like it and i haven't seen so many people switch until 4.0 was out) So it will most likely be that Apple will always be ahead in smartphone sales. Samsung also was an early competitor, and was able to get there name out there since they had so much money to advertise. So everyone I know is either ALL APPLE, or they will only go for Samsung, thinking everything else is inferior. Not saying Samsung is terrible, but they got ahead while I think there smartphones aren't superior. This is why I think Samsung will hurt HTC when it comes too sales. Samsung is big, HTC isn't.
Can wait to see the look on Ur faces wen Sammy slams the 1 to an early grave....y the heck do u think they will stick to plastic....HTC using all aluminum body sure means the competition will follow suit. And u know the will fill it up with lots of extra features....if there's one thing Sammy its better @, then its marketing. Remember how we keep blasting the iphone, yet it sells so well. HTC 1 was made to get the company back on its feet financially. To these OEM its not about just making a good phone, its all about selling most. And as it stands Sammy has the upper hand, and I don't think they are ready to give up....so prepare to be blown away....LIKE IT OR NOT

Actually, if you care about HTC as a company then you should care about the announcement - it would be an understatement to say that this is the most crucial battle yet for HTC - and they've done their part by making an excellent product. So let's see.

Problem is that the S4 was surely in production before they knew HTC would be using aluminum. And believe me, I already believe that Samsung will out do the HTC One by a long shot because Samsung has always done better with marketing there phones. Im sure they will release a new version of TouchWiz with lots of new features, but the Ones features are also great. Sense 5 looks mint, compared to TouchWiz and unless Samsung follows in that more minimalist design I'll still find TouchWiz ugly. I would agree its not about maknig the better phone is its about profits. Just like every other company in the world. Samsung will always have the upper hand whether or not they are crappy or great. Just like we see with pretty much every single Apple product. They made a name for themselves, So no matter what they put out, the iSheep WILL continue to buy there overpriced, crappy products. Still, Samsung > Apple any day. Samsungs products aren't crappy but i've never been impressed by a single thing Samsung has ever done.

HTC one vs Samsung Galaxy S4

If you had an upgrade what would you choose.........
My choice would be the one. I like the LCD screen found on the DNA. I have alot of faith in the 4 Ultra pixel camera. I want a phone that doesn't feel like a child's toy. The quadrant scores on the One were amazing, although I'm sure the S4 will come close. What would you choose?
FYI: all phones have ultra pixels, however there 1.1. The ones found on the One are 2.0. Just saying

HTC uses perfect materials, it feels great when you hold it in your hand
Currently on an htc phone and with HTCs inability to update software in a timely fashion that makes me question them all together.
I have a samsung tablet but I am leaning towards the S4 due to samsung overall being the better product and updating things in a timely manner.
It took htc nearly a year to get ics on this and it's horrible for everything.
Go with Samsung. Overall it's just better supported and more highly recognized

Wait, so we should get a device based on what is more recognized? That's an awesome view you have there, lol!
Wondering what was so bad with ICS? I have an Amaze the wife uses and runs fine, funny she has actually had 3 OTA updates compared to my two on my s3.
I can't wait till the One drops! Definitely my next phone for sure.

The event for the unpacking of the GS4 was ridiculous! Seriously I watched the hole "show" and I was awaiting for the new killer feature that would erase the concurrents.
First of all, the design. Some of you may say "don't change the lineup of a working team" but personally I'm tired of the same designs with Samsung devices lately. It's the same on the GS3, on the note 2 and now on the GS4 ? Show some innovation Samsung!
I love Android, I never had an iPhone and never wanted one, but from the design, iPhone 5 is way better built.
HTC really got that and the amazing device that is the ONE is the proof.
You can't say "yeah I choose my device because it'll have more updates!". Wrong!
Every high marketed device comes with killer features ! 2gb of RAM? That's normal now. 32 or 64 gb of storage / 5 inch screen? Normal too...
The thing is they all look alike in a hardware point of view, that's why nowadays the design is very important.
A good design means a device built with beautiful and premium materials and that the device's design changes from the device that came out before.
Samsung didn't get that. Although the S series of Samsung is gonna sell at uncomputable numbers every one knows that, I don't think it's a major need to upgrade from the s3 to S4 because I just don't see the point except waisting money.
I think it may attract some of those who will walk in a store and see the device (thanks to the amazing job of marketing that Samsung always does) but for those who were waiting it to be a great and revolutionary device, the disappointment is the real feeling.
HTC ONE is the killer smartphone of 2013's beginning, sorry Samsung you'll do better next time. Or not ^^

Me getting S4. Although HTC One has better build quality but for everything else, HTC is not the company I would bet on. It will probably never get updates after one or two.
On the other side Samsung is adding more and more features in each update and from last year when I purchased S3, I already got 3-4 updates. Plus they already working on another one with all these latest features.
On hardware side, I think S4 has upper hand on HTC One. Battery is larger, processor is faster, S4 Screen is bigger but phone is little smaller. S4 Screen is better. Not to mention expendable microSD slot and replaceable battery.
So I would not want a phone with better built quality but strong specs and better features.
I think that's the main reason why I switched from iPhone to S3 in the first place. I know a lots of people might hate me for saying this but iPhone has best build quality among all phones out there.
So definitely Galaxy S4.
I said " I love Android, I never had an iPhone and never wanted one, but from the design, iPhone 5 is way better built."
So please understand my sentence as it sound ^^
I'll say again maybe in other words this time, when you grab an iPhone 5 and when you grab a S3, don't tell me that the S3 has a more premium look and feel... And that's not a question of opinion, that's a fact.
I never mentioned the prices of the devices but if you want to, we'll see the price of the S4, when they'll show it at 699$ then you'll tell me the difference with the iPhone. The only device that is worth talking on a price basis is the Nexus 4. The rest of'em are just a scam

Well it's probably true for new buyers. But for a experienced users, it matters.
When I switched S3 from iPhone, I didn't actually know about all this. I had option to choose S3 or HTC One X and I went with S3 because it's more popular and had better support.
From what I learn in last year, I could never buy HTC or Motorola phones.
These companies never support their devices. They even lock bootloaders so we cannot update our devices ourself or install updated custom roms.
I am also a little disappointed with S4 release but I would pick S4 over HTC one any day.

This was exactly like last year for me.
I wanted a phone with huge storage capacity/microSD capacity and long battery life/removable battery with decent specs. And QWERTY but I have given up on the last thing.
The HTC One X was released and as pretty as the White one was, it definitely was not a purchase I was willing to make and I waited for the Samsung Galaxy S3 announcement. The announcement came and Samsung gave me what I wanted. I bought the S3.
Fast forward this year. HTC One announced. Still no microSD slot but looks like decent battery life. Looks very pretty too (I still think the white One X is the best looking HTC phone though). Not bad this time around HTC but let's wait to hear from Samsung. S4 gets announced and again, they have what I want from last year.
If I was choosing again between HTC or Samsung this year: Samsung Galaxy S4 because it has what I want from last year.
Luckily I want more stuff this year which is why I'm not going to buy a S4. My S3 is lovely and I don't need to buy an S4. However, I now really want a bigger screen. This year, I'll be looking to buy a Note 3 or competitor version as long as it has a huge screen, huge capacity/microSD, huge battery.
Honestly, I don't care what company you are or even what your phone looks like (I bought the S3 for god sakes). Just give me what I want and I'd buy it. I'm also eyeing the Blackberry Q10 simply because of the QWERTY but I think my lust for a bigger screen will win out. Plus the stylus is alright...right?

Galaxy S3S?

Im looking to purchase the GS4 but i see people saying it's more like an S3S upgrade than a true GS4 upgrade. But looking at the specs and the host of software upgrades the GS4 actually has more features upgraded from the GS3 than the Iphone 4 to Iphone 5. Do you guys think it's worth the upgrade coming from a GS3?
Because those are apple I.idiots. There is been a huge update only design changed a little. But for isheep update is only when design change completely.
I never owned S3 but will get S4 soon
Here are some updates:
-Biger screen same phone size
- Slimer
- New faster and more energy efficient CPU and GPU
- Double Ram
- Biger battery
- 2 new sensors
- Better camera
- Wireless charging
- tons of software new functions. Some are jut gimmicks but a lot of them are nice add-ons like music sharing and drama shots etc
Show me that much changed between 4 and 4 s

Here's Apple's iPhone upgrade evolution. Based on it, you tell me whether the SGS4 is really a "SGS3s." And on the design side their devices are no more evolved from version-to-version than Samsung's devices.
Lol
Ofcouse annual upgrades don't take water to wine, but in my books just the new GS4 sensores ( new exclusive features) are enough to get the "S" from GS3.... and there's more.
That question is pretty subjective, but in my opinion the hardware has changed enough for me to consider this a full step up.
I think he was hiding under the rock and woke up after 2 months, lol. I think you should check out some reviews to know how powerful this device is.

hardware wise we pretty much hit a plateau with smartphones. as for software, there is very little new features on both platforms that current hardware can't support.

The biggest problem the gs4 has is that it looks very similar to a gs3. There's no doubt imo that feature wise it's an upgrade. While users of xda may not give a rats ass how a device looks as long as it has the latest and greatest hardware, the general public may want a little more. You need to decide whether you need a little more...

It's actually the other way around. I think here on xda and tech savvy people are the One who care about the looks. The General public couldn't care less. If it says Galaxy S 4 instead of 3 then it's good to go. It means its newer and they don't really ask questions plus Samsung does a great job at advertising.

Not even close. Most of the time couldn't care how it looks. What is important here is development options.

I don't really get it how people are talking about design and s4 before even holding it in their hands and seing it for themselves.
I had th s1 then s2 then s3 then note2 and now I have the s4... let me tell you that design wise...The s4 is a lot better than the s3 and better even than the note2... when I look at the s3 now and then look back to the s4 I really hate the s3 looks... The s4 looks and feels more premium and a lot better looking and holding than the s3....
When you people get the s4 in your hands and still don't see the design difference you can at that point in time talk about it but not before.
I feel the whole thread is useless until then.

When you people get the s4 in your hands and still don't see the design difference you can at that point in time talk about it but not before.
I feel the whole thread is useless until then.

I agree. People always judge without even holding the device itself. We are just a few days away from its release so we will find out soon enough.
The physical differences between the S3 and the S4 are not radical but still very obvious to me. The S4 doesn't have the chubby sides like the S3 and it's more rectangular, which I like. I just never liked the S3 design because of its chubby side bulges and the asymmetrical placement of its home button.
