[Resolved] [Q] Tasker: How to press "Go" - General Questions and Answers

Hi, I'm making a task that will allow me to search for artists/ albums/ song in Spotify then play them with a single voice command. I've found a problem. After entering the variable into the search box you have to press "Go" (Which replaces enter on the keyboard) but I can find no way to simulate pressing the go button any ideas?

RE:
I was looking for something to literally click Go but I got it working by using a white space variable where the variable is the enter key (since just typing the enter key wouldn't work)

Assigning keyboard buttons

Hi
I would like to change the messaging key on the keyboard so that pressing it opens a new message, rather than the inbox. Is this possible?
I have the new message shortcut, so all I need to be able to do is assign a hardware keyboard button to open a different program, ie the new message shortcut.
Any ideas?
Thanks
I use AEBplus for exactly this!
google AEBplus and you'll get it - occasionally (and i'm not sure why) pressing the button only gets as far as the messaging menu, but pressing again starts a new message.
you'll need to "create" the button in AEB (set it to map, and press what you want) - its button #00EF mapped to run application tmail with optional parameters -service "SMS" -To ""
(i tried mapping it to call a shortcut with the same link syntax - but that kept failing, and also had tried calling the service [not the exe] which again worked as a shortcut, but not when mapped)
Hope it helps!

Mapping Capacitive Buttons to Launch App?

Is it possible to map the bottom Capacitive Buttons to launch apps? It would nice to be able to change what they do and add functionality.
ie. long press on home launches "active apps" instead of task manager, long press on menu launches voice actions.
I know how to map the search key to camera but that is very easy/simple.
You can do this with Cyanogenmod. IDK what else though.
How do you map the camera to the search key? Is it on long press or regular?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
file located at:
/system/usr/keylayout/melfas-touch.kl
Key 107 SEARCH
change to
Key 107 CAMERA
save
I did it all with root explorer.
It changes the search button to be a camera button, launches and takes pictures. You lose search but long press on menu brings up search.
Anyone have anymore info on this?
when i make those changes in root explorer, i hit save but when i open the file again it is back to search. any tips?
make sure you have write privileges....?
i should have started out by saying i am relatively new to this. when i long press on melfas-touchkey.kl and click permissions, it says user:read write, group:read, others:read. so i think i do...
Any more incite on this?

[Q] [ubuntu] How to map search key to alt?

I'm happily running Ubuntu on my TF-101 now. Thanks to lilstevie and everyone else who helped make that possible!
However I'd like to make the search key on the dock act as an alt key. I know how to remap modifier keys using xmadmap, but xev doesn't seem to report any X events when pressing the search key so I can't get its code . The home key next to it is reported as "keycode 180 (keysym 0x1008ff18, XF86HomePage)", but absolutely nothing for the search key.
When you press the search key a "search for files" window pops up, so the key press is being recognised somewhere in the system, but I guess whatever that is then suppresses the normal X KeyPress event.
Anyone have any ideas about how to fix this? I guess in the meantime I'll try using the home key instead.
Ah, just figured it out. First disable the system-wide usage of the search key:
Go to System -> Preferences -> Keyboard Shortcuts
Scroll down to the Desktop section and click on "Search"
Press backspace to disable any shortcut for that function
Then xev reports the keypress as "keycode 225 (keysym 0x1008ff1b, XF86Search)" so the following command will make it act as an Alt key:
xmodmap -e "add mod1 = XF86Search"
Hope someone finds this as useful as I do - it's nice having the keys in the right place!

[Q] How to disable auto-open of search?

I have a phone running Froyo that has a physcal T9 keyboard. When one of the T9 number keys is pressed while on the launcher screen, instead of launching the dialer as would be expected, the phone interprets the keypress as a text entry and launches the multi-search app instead. For example, if I press on the number '2' button, it interprets this as text input of the letter 'a' and opens the search app with the letter 'a' as the initial input.
I am trying to alter this behavior. I have tried picking through the framework files to try and find something that pertains to this, and even wrote my own app with the intents and intent filters set to the same as those of the search app, but cannot get anything to open with a number button press other than the damn search app.
Any suggestions on how to change this behavior are appreciated.

Miui keyboard usb - settings shortcut

MIUI 12.0.2 Global
Someone knows how to enter Settings or Search in settings or
Open TalkBack menu (I know shortcut is available as Vol+ Vol- but default is off)
with a USB keyboard connected to the phone?
It is a keyboard shortcut or a sequence of keys.
Under Win + / there is a shortcut list, but not there.
OKAY. After hours of rummaging around, I found a way.
I attach the keyboard to the phone.
Standby phone, pin locked.
I press 2xSPACEBAR, enter the pin, ENTER
(I'm on the desktop)
I press WINDOWS + N, after a while 5xTAB, ENTER
(I'm in settings)
and if someone else wanted TalkBack to turn it on even further:
ENTER
I type TAL
ENTER
SPACEBAR
SPACEBAR
(you hear a voice saying where I am currently on the menu)
WINDOWS + BACKSPACE
WINDOWS + BACKSPACE
My bestfriend is on a mi 9, and she has a broken screen.
For my phone (mi 11) I managed to get to SETTINGS with FN+A keys (oppens search bar) then typing settings and enter.
I will try activate talkback as you suggested, or maybe directly usb file sharing if I can, I'll tell you, you may have saved her her datas
cant manage to delete this post, posted same message twice
