You need root to use Mobile Odin.
Yeah, I found out myself after trying.
It closes after checking root permissions.
So again stock with same question, how to root without connecting to a pc ?
Sent from my GT-I9003 using xda premium
my bad...yes you do require root to use odin...there is z4root to root witout pc but i dont know if it really works....its pretty outdated i think
According to me, z4 root only worked on froyo. Only tool I found that could work on gingerbread was ginger break. But the exploits don't seem to be working.
It gets stuck on the screen saying 'running exploit, please wait'.

i dont think its going to work because Odin is for Samsung.
ODIN is tool ONLY for Samsung. Our device is SONY. Devices from different manufactures are very different, although both running Android. Therefore it is impossible for Odin to work on Xperias.
However, we already have our "Odin". The app is called Flashtool.
Moderators please move this thread.
I has samsung and used odin. I can tell you that flashtool is way better

It's already ported. It name is Flashtool
It serves perfectly the same purpose as odin.
I mean mobile odine that flashes on mobile only

thanks for the help. whrn i checked my phone kernel its version is kernel 2.6.35.14 [email protected]#2. is this the stock kernel for galaxy y or not
No man! Its not a stock kernel... Flash stock kernel manually or along with the stock ROM!!
But i would suggest using some custom kernel if you want to overclock it to 1 Ghz or may be 1.2!
Hit thanks if i helped! It wont take much time
