[Q] htc explorer unlocking bootloader - HTC Pico (Explorer)

Hello guys!
Sorry if this has been posted and answered hundreds of times. I am new.
Do everyone lose DRM keys while trying to unlock bootloader on htc explorer? What are the defects that come along with it? Or just a few. I have just got it a month ago and can't afford if it gets ruined.
Thanks guys.

Um, rom much?

Anyone else notice everyone and their moms has a rom out in the dev section now?
There were maybe 3-4 options about a week ago. I think I counted about a dozen in there now
And that's a problem how?

Just surprised a bit with the huge boom in dev work. I also have a g2x, it's been open for all since release and it hasn't seen as much work.
Xda as a whole I think love HTC phones more that's why. Nexus one-mytouch-g1 massive amount of Roms

[Q] picked up a NS4G in a trade.....bricked

Hey guys so long story short I picked up a NS4G in a trade. I knew it was "bricked" but I figured hey i have xda! lol
It doesn't power on wont take a charge and does nothing when pressing button combo's. I have searched thru the threads and could not find anything.
I have read about a place you can send it into and they can fix it but not sure about that.
Basically I am wondering should I just throw it in the trash because it is a paper weight? Or is it salvageable?
The guy said he couldn't remember what ROM it was running but I didn't think that really mattered?
Thanks in advanced!!
P.S:The ESN is clear just so you know we aren't wasting our time.
Another question. Would sprint be able to repair the phone? As in replace something in it? I have a service/repair center pretty close to me.
If it ends up not booting and not fixable I'll pay shipping for it.
Just wanted to get "1st dibs"
Carry on

Then you need to call HTC and find out who you need to talk to to find out if your serial number is still covered by the manufacturer's warranty. If not, it's probably something you should have done BEFORE you made the purchase. I could be wrong but it sounds like someone passed a hardware problem off on an unsuspecting buyer. BUT....it MAY still be covered and they didn't know either.
Isn't it worth a try?
Where can I find there number and can u get me it please?

This is their online "Warranty Statement". But it does conflict with the results some others have had doing a return. It COULD be that they returned it thru their carrier.

This is their website where you can directly e-mail the company with questions if you like.

one x motherboard swap

I have a Rogers htc one x that is ICJ bricked, and a line on a working, rooted Rogers one x that just has a shattered digitizer for $135. I'm planning on swapping the motherboard. I'm not worried about the physical swap, I've already disassembled the phone and I'm totally comfortable with that.
my only question is if there will be issues with hardware that I'm unaware of. my impression is that the motherboard has all the components with IDs on it like imei etc. and all the other components are totally swappable. so in essence, putting this other motherboard into my phone is more like transferring all my parts around his phone.
like saying "a brain transplant will never be possible, but perhaps a full body transplant one day."
but I digress...
is there anything I'm not considering?
Your imei is stored in mmcblk0p4 you can just dd it and hex edit your imei and cid into it and then dd it back

It turned out quite well! I needed to unlock the Frankensteined phone, note that the imei needs to match the motherboard. Also, I needed to have a stock based (i.e. sense based) Rom installed for the unlock to work.
Other than that, the phone isn't too tough to disassemble (find a video, if you need help, let me know), although when I pulled one of the phones apart, it pulled the button portion of the power button off. I needed to swap the power button assembly with the other phone.
So as it stands, I have a perfect condition one xl, and one bricked xl with a shattered digitizer ($25 part) and no power button ($15 part). Still trying to figure out what to do with it...right now I'm just waiting to see if it can be unbricked. If so, I can fix it and sell it, or just let my wife have it.
I was under the impression that grim could unbrick icj phones that aren't 2.20

Good job man...yeah these phones are surprisingly not that difficult to work on physically. I just had to do a motherboard swap.

Was gonna say that but figured I probably would have gotten a wise answer. Don't know why but for some reason, the XL forums are seeing a large increase in helpless noobs recently. Probably cause of the One being released and everybody trading in their XL.

Yup. HTC really botched the naming on this phone. It's like Hardees and the Six Dollar Burger. It is both a burger size and a menu item. I've ended up with the wrong order a couple times because of that. Just like people brick their phones confusing the One X international and the One X from AT&T.
I think it would help if they'd sticky the 3.18 method in this forum. I had to do a bit of digging and read through quite a few threads to make sure I was reading the right info for rooting my freshly repaired phone and getting s-off. I know it's still in the hack and chop no one-click phase, but I'm sure the guys asking feel like I do and prefer stickies because it gives the post the feeling that the info is the most accurate available and that's where the geniuses who cook up these exploits will be posting.

I'm surprised they haven't yet. The dev might just need to PM a mod and ask for it to be sticky.
