Well where you live does not mean it is the right firmware for that phone....
What firmware was it running before? Does it have the ATT logo at the bottom front of the phone? Where did you buy the phone from? Was it purchased used?
Have you tried a factory reset?
Could this possibly be an HK version phone?
Maybe try flashing the FXZ again, if a factory reset does not help.

So did it work the third time, or not?
If not, do you have a warranty? If not then I would see about what options you have from the shop you bought it from. How long ago did you buy it? If it is within the last year, you should have a motorola warranty, but you will be given another phone like an atrixHD instead of the Atrix2 at this point, since it is not being made anymore, and all the "replacements" have been exhausted at this point. The other option is to find one used that has a broken screen and just move your screen and digitizer to that phone (since it will have a new board in it), as you may have some hardware issue, or the phone is just starting to go bad... The odd thing is that this only occurred after an fxz, so that is very odd.

Sadly, I haven't found anything related to unlocking the bootloader in the boot image.
This is the fxz for the chinese ME865, one would be crazy to flash it to one's american MB865 (though I would be interested in the results )
Shouldn't it still work even though it is the Chinese FXZ. Although you might need a translator to work your phone right LoL

Yeah I was just joking around about the language LoL. But with all said and done right now we would flash using RSD lite correct. Could this be made into a flashable zip that we could use with our bootstrap?

It's not a big deal for me to read Chinese....lol
After all, It's my native language.....
But under the setting part should have language selection...
Thinking about flash it on my, Cuz AT&T version doesnt have Chinese display. That made some of my apps can't work right
Anybody flash it yet? I'm restraining myself from doing it, because I feel there's a chance it may have the unlock for the bootloader, If memory serves me correctly, it was from a leaked China based firmware for the ATRIX, that revealed the unlock for the OG ATRIX. I maybe mixing it up with the Photon, but who knows.

With the original Atrix there were some issues with international builds not commpatible with USA builds, and there were some bricks along the way. There were even bricks with trying to roll back firmware after the gingerbread update. Patience for me, I am not ready to brick mine.
You can flash just the boot loader if interested... I would but I am working on another bootloader hack to break the current bootloader open, or I would flash just the bootloader, that is one thing that can be tried.... Who still has time on their 30 day return left, that wants to try this:
using the android SDK run the following using the boot.img from this Chinese image
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Then boot into the boot loader with holing the volume down buttom while powering the phone on
Then
fastboot oem unlock ( this should give you output that gives your id )
fastboot oem unlock #### ( the ####'s are the uid you recieved from the command above ).
Then reboot the phone. You may have to erase your userdata with:
fastboot erase userdata
Hopefully you won't have to do this...
This might be worth a try.

Could this be ics? Bootloaders unlocked?
Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk
Do you have a link that you can share?
No. The Chinese update to fix the -75dB issue is 2.3.6.
Also it breaks the root method but supposedly it's possible to keep root with an app "OTA Rootkeeper".
I'm not 100% sure but I don't think the Chinese bootloader is unlocked.
(poking around here with machine translations can be... unclear )
Saw a story on there that Motorola engineers were actually dispatched to the poster's house to test the fixed baseband with the customer.
I wish we could get that kind of service in the USA.

No such luck.....
I tore this apart, and this has the same bootloader as our MB865 with a couple minor differences due to what looks like a slight hardware difference on the ME865.

[Q] How to get my Nexus S working ?

Hi, this is my first post
Last year I found a new Nexus S outside Undergroung (subway), when I got home I checked and it worked fine with my simcards (vodafone and t mobile) I but never used it really.
My phone is now broked and I tried to use this Nexus but any simcard I insert is now not working everything else is fine, wifi, apps etc. It just won't recognise any simcards.
When I try to make a call it says " mobile network not available".
I searched the forum but found nothing to solve the issue. I have taken it to my local repair shop and they couldn't help me. It has the ice cream sandwich android version 4.0.4.
Can anyone here help me with getting the sim to work ? : )
Did it have ICS when you found it? Also, what model is it? (I9020A, I9020T, I9023?)
It did not. I updated it.
Its I9023.
Any more info required?
How did you update it?
I'd try to flash the factory image with fastboot and see if simcards work.
Maybe it got reported lost so IMEI got disabled

Hand it in to the police. If no one claims it within some time frame, it's yours (at least true for uk)
Then if you do get to keep it, then you can ask your network to unblock the imei, and cite the police reference so they know it's legit

Do ths first: http://nexusshacks.com/nexus-s-root/how-to-root-nexus-s-or-nexus-s-4g-on-ics-or-gingerbread/
then using the recovery (power+volume up) flash the second one if your phone is i9023 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1572307 there you go, stock 2.3.6, rooted.
I do suggest you hand this to the police, for legal purposes only

New Baseband. No Network. HELP!

Hello XDA!
So, I made the mistake of making an OTA upgrade to my Atrix 2 and this is where Im at.
Sys Version: 55.28.37.MB865.AsiaRetail.en.03
Android Version: 2.3.6
Baseband Version: 2012-03-28 12:22 Off.Bld LUD_EDISON_R1EP29_TO_422313_001_120328_120
I'm running on Vodafone India (Mumbai)
The Phone now no longer catches any network at some places in the city! It shuffles between Emergency Mode, No Network and the Red Slashed Circle.
Funny thing is, It was fine earlier & I do get network on other operators. And what's even more strange is that if i put my SIM in another phone. (SGS3) Im getting full network!
HELP!!!
i had the exact same problem, but with reboot issues too , i solved it by flashing ics zip, because it comes with its own radio.
i have at&t phone though

Been thru the same issue right from the time I bought my phone.
Vodafone Mumbai has Only 32k type of Sim cards (i know this cos ive directly asked them abt it at the vfne store) which arent compatible with the new update (55.28.37). So ur phone cant catch the network and m guessing ur phone is draining a lot of battery too.
I had to switch to Docomo to get a 64k Sim, which is compatible. (though im still using vfne in another phone )
the moto ppl have told me that ICS is gonna sort this issue, but im not too hopeful of that. So better u get another carrier and get that 64k Sim or don't update and wait for ICS. (u'll have to take ur phone to moto service centre to downgrade it)
I got a new Sim cos I was having problems with batt drain and also cos of the non compatible update.
Edit: I used to barely get 9 - 10hrs with the vfne Sim before the update and a 64k Sim sorted that issue too.

New Update on the Problem
Firstly,
Thanks for all the help. You guys are awesome.
I realised that the Motorola Service Center was right next to where I work. So I Uncheesecaked, Unbootstrapped & Unrooted my phone and gave it to those guys to see what they do, exactly.
And in 15 minutes, they downgraded my phone to this version which works:
Sys Version: 55.1.27.MB865.AsiaRetail.en.03
Android Version: 2.3.6
Baseband Version: 2012-01-20 19:57 Off.Bld LUD_EDISON_R1E_PATCH_23_120120_1943
Build Number: 5.5.1-EDEM-27
Result: I have network everywhere now. Its working fine. So this is the baseband I need. But that smoothness which the 55.28.37 had is no longer there.
Nevertheless, I can start modding this phone a fresh now.
Needed to confirm one thing though. If i get myself into this problem again. Which radio from the droiddevelopers website should i flash?
519.2 MiB 63EF21A6DF3869329AB6B0A54CD74F8F Retail Asian <- which ArchMag3 recommended?
OR
517.3 MiB F452799D01461D307BD4F0593066B4CF Retail Asian <- or this one?

Also, If im flashing just the radio, Fastboot flashing is the best way to go right?
And one more thing, Is anyone making a Baseband Switcher like they did with the defy? Or is it just not possible in this phones case?

Vodafone network problem after update
Hello,
i am also facing the similar problem after doing an update, i am from India (Mumbai) having 55.28.37.MB865.AsiaRetail.en.03
It would be great if you can explain the steps in more details, as i am confused if i have to unzip the file on computer or on phone, step by step explanation will be more helpful.
my another question was after doing this flash will the warranty be broken ? is this something similar to root the phone. i dont want to break my phone warranty as i have purchased recently just a month back.
Thanks for the help in advance. and awaiting to hear favourable response from you

Hey, If you're new to flashing stuff just head to one of the service centers and they'll roll it back in half an hour. Easy Peasy. In this way you don't have to worry about your warranty as well.
Though I had rooted my phone, i just unrooted it and took it to them and they couldn't realise that i had voided my warranty.
they'll bring it down to the 5.5.1-EDEM-27 firmware, which is available on the link thats provided in this chain.
Hope it works.

[Q] help with ICS 4 manual update on Atrix2

SOS
here's my story - i bought the atrix2 (MB865) in the US but now i'm in Malaysia. i tried updating to ICS4 via the phone but it always prmpt saying its already the latest update. my friend has the same model which he bought from Malaysia was able to update. i email motorola USA and they said the model that i have is actually a south american model. ok... so i got con.
i checked the south american motorola website and ics4 was released in september 2012 to only certain carrier :good:. so it's very unlikely that i will be going to south america and pick the right carrier just to update my phone.
question now is, is there a safe way that i can update to ics4 without screwing up my phone and if YES, pls can you show me how. much appreciated to everyone who can assist, cheers.

here's my story - i bought the atrix2 (MB865) in the US but now i'm in Malaysia. i tried updating to ICS4 via the phone but it always prmpt saying its already the latest update. my friend has the same model which he bought from Malaysia was able to update. i email motorola USA and they said the model that i have is actually a south american model. ok... so i got con.
i checked the south american motorola website and ics4 was released in september 2012 to only certain carrier :good:. so it's very unlikely that i will be going to south america and pick the right carrier just to update my phone.
question now is, is there a safe way that i can update to ics4 without screwing up my phone and if YES, pls can you show me how. much appreciated to everyone who can assist, cheers.

Go to settings...About phone. Scroll down past legal info and take a screenshot and post it here.
Well, there are 2 "retail south america "meixico" firmwares that you could try and flash and I am pretty sure these are not ICS though, just the standard 2.3.5/6.
IUSAcell network:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/5.5.1-EDL-32-IUSACELL-MX_cfc.xml.zip
UNefon network:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/5.5.1-EDL-32-UNEFON-MX_cfc.xml.zip
Again, sorry to say that these are NOT ICS, but you might be able to flash them and check again for an update, just in-case your firmware is NOT 100% standard/stock. Checking for updates on a non-stock/100% standard rom tends to not find the updates.
And there also may not be another way to get the ICS update if youre not on the network that the phone was originally meant for, since it would be theirs and motorola's joint firmware on a server connected to that cell network (usually).
And Since we do not have the firmware on this site, you really do not have too many other options.
This is the site with all the MB865 atrix2 firmwares:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php
Those ^^ can be flashed with RSD lite, look at this thread here, to get all the info:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650
look about half way down the first post for FXZ

You can take a screenshot by pressing the power button, and volume down button at the same time. Hold it for a second then release it. I wouldn't worry about the screenshot though. I would follow Jim's advice on this one.

You just formatted, nothing else? And you are able to boot into BMM? Then I think that is normal thing which we do while flashing ROMs, just flash the ROM now.
You can flash the system image alone from fxz folder using moto fast boot tools..just search up xda..

Is this possible, didn't know about it.
Actually my Atrix 2 doesn't get recognized on my windows PC and in case if something bad happens with me then I will be left stranded at nowhere. So this in-phone capability is handy for me.
Then another problem is that the new download links are confusing, I am not able to figure out which FXZ ROM to download, mine is Indian Atrix 2 (MB865).

LOL.. Now enjoy the good old days for a while.
IMO best stock ROM for the Atrix 2 was GB with MotoBlur. Everything was interlinked and connected to each other and phone was smarter. Few of the features in that interface were ahead of it's time and many new phone advertise few of those features these days as USP. The stock music player was intelligent, though we can get similar app at play store also. Mine phone came with motoblur and I equally loved and hated that for its features.

For windows you have to install Motorola Device manager and rsdlite.. flashing using fastboot and terminal is easier once you have adb and fast boot tools set up..that's what i do in Linux..can be done in windows too..

Actually the phone isn't getting detected in RSDlite, thats the problem. Otherwise phone connects with PC for normal file transfer tasks. Camera and MTP drivers are also installed automatically.
But if you have done that in linux then that is also good news for me. Please post the procedure, I also have Linux Mint on my laptop which I would love to use.

Thanks a lot for pointing out.
To be safe from any further confusion, I am putting the full description written at the site :
Blur_Version.672.1.18.MB865.PSHAsiaRetail.en.03 Retail Taiwan 320.9 MiB 43D340E9F4087754BB54B9F2718E843E
I hope this one is correct. Please confirm the MD5 written above in bold and underlined.
BTW My phone is "Made in China". Does that have anything to with?

I doubt it has to do anything with it being made in China....I'm guessing that its named as Asia retail since India comes under Asia.
