good info, hopefully this will help others, I was beat on one of these fake charger kits, mine came in a single package but looked like yours, I had my doubts that it was fake from the day I got it, my battery wouldnt charge all the way and died quickly, so I started digging around and researching and found it to be a fake, I ended up buying an authentic system directly from Samsung

The ironic thing is the authentic one was cheaper than the knock-off. Samsung still has a coupon for 50% of all accessories under $50, so the charging system comes to $24.50. Orders over $50 get free shipping, so I got two charging systems and a pack of Tectiles for $57 shipping
Check retailmenot for current coupons: http://www.retailmenot.com/view/samsung.com?c=4772794
Not affiliated in anyway with retailmenot or samsung, just passing it forward.
yeah I missed the 50% discount by like a week when I ordered my charger kit
I have the authentic one from samsung but mine didn't come with a wall charger... you said the wall charger 0.7 amps? In reality it should be 2amps just like the charger that came the phone no? It will charge the battery much slower

Mine also didn't come with the wall charger. But everything else looks the same.
Battery charging at 700 mah will have your battery charged in 4 hours. If your phone is on, it draws about 400-500 with the screen on idle, so it would be considerably slower.
Since it's just a charger and there isn't actual use, it charges well at 700 mah. I didn't bother looking at the fine print of the charger so I take your word for it. The charger itself should have an input and output on it's power.
Here is the sticker inside the charger...

That is definitely legit. I forgot to mention to mention the fake/foreign one has a different model number... it ends in a C instead of a U. I'm guessing maybe "China" vs "US" market? They look very similar, but there are some obvious differences besides the sticker and packaging. The LED light bleeding through the plastic is most obvious. I also noticed the Chinese version had a green PCB instead of black. I didn't do a complete teardown, but you can see it through the holes in the corner of the battery tray.
Am not so sure that those things mean that anything is fake.
For example, the original battery in my s4 says Made in Chine, assembled in china.
Those big companies produce slightly different versions of products for different markets for pretty obvious reasons.1st of all is Regulations and 2nd is demand. For example they judge that people in China are likely not going to pay 50$ for the charger so they opt for lower cost materials to drop the costs.

I agree. But when you pay for the US version, and shady sellers pawn off the lower quality foreign market product, that isnt acceptable. The product description on Amazon even warns buyers to look for the Samsung hologram on the packaging. These cheap versions, real or not, dont have any holograms and shouldn't be sold as substitutes. If you want to pay less for the foreign version on aliexpress or wherever, and you know what youre getting, more power to you!

Definitely. Nobody should be paying the price of the American market product and getting the inferior (maybe quality-wise but not performance wise). But then there are people (and i admit that sometimes am one of them) who dont care if the light shines through the plastic and i wouldnt mind paying almost 1/2 the price for that.
HELP PLEASE !!!

*Just a foreword...I am not saying that this QI charger is better (or worse) than the Orb. This is not a comparison of any sort. Rather, I'm raising attention for this charger for those unable to get the Orb (pretty much everyone outside the US) and/or those who personally do not like the Orb. With that said, let me give you my thoughts*
Right, so I stumbled upon this very good looking QI charger for the Nexus 4, and I think it deserves a thread of its own.
Clicky here to see the product. You will find high quality pics/renders in the listing.
For a start, it looks miles better than those unsightly large ones being sold by fasttech, and the plasticky (is that a word?) "small" ones. This charger looks truly compact and I love the aluminium finish. The charging light is also well placed and not obtrusive. IMO, a beautiful device like the Nexus 4 should be used with equally beautiful hardware.
Another bonus is that this charger is actually from a reputable brand (at least in China) called Metrans. Again, I find this to be a more promising sign of quality than what the unbranded ones have to show for.
My point being, if for whatever reason you cannot or do not want to buy the Orb (I live in the UK and personally prefer to place my gadgets flat), this charger may be worth considering. I certainly think its worth buying over the massive ones sold by the likes of Energizer.
At $59, it's by no means cheap but I think its a double edged sword. Quality is usually proportional to price (Apple being the exception)
Unfortunately this seems to be a brand new product so I was unable to find any reviews. I have taken the leap however and bought one so I will update you all once it arrives. I expect it to arrive in about a week, so keep an eye on this thread if you're interested

My purchases from China usually arrive in a week
Also I did say this was for those not interested/unable to buy the Orb. It's a mixture of both for me
A final point...you say "$60 for a cheap charger", are you aware that the Orb costs the same? And $60 is by no means cheap.

Perhaps, but this might help those unable to get the Orb. Only people in the US can buy it.
I am not saying this is a Orb beater, I am saying its may the next best alternative for those unable and unwilling to buy the Orb.

I love aluminum, I'll definitely be interested in reading your review!
looking forward to your review. i am considering this as its cheaper then getting the charging orb to my country inclusive of tax
nice
Looks a lot cleaner and more attractive then the orb. The tilt of the orb has more worried about it sliding off but im not sure what its made of i just dont know why they made a charger thats tilted. But nice Post bro
Looking forward to your review. Seems like a pretty nice charger.

Only observation is that eBay seller has had no feedback for 12 months or over? They also say they have stock in UK according to description so let's see how long it takes to be delivered.
Good luck

Yh I noticed that as well, but I guess all sellers have to start with zero feedback right?
Anyway I sent him an email and it appears that the first few chargers (i.e. mine) are being sent from China but inventory will be made available in the UK in a few days.
P.S You can also buy the charger from here. Appears to be a Chinese marketplace for foreigners (like fasttech, dealextreme, etc). However the price is the same.

Quite the opposite for me, I prefer it to be flat, won't have to worry about the slippage issue some people are complaining about.
Also yh, this already wins in the looks department but hopefully my review will show that it functions just as well
I like the design. But being almost identical to the orb's pricing makes it hard for US-based buyers to justify the purchase.
I'll hold off from buying the orb for now and wait for your review.
The ebay seller is a lying sob. He claims he's a EBAY TOP RATED SELLER.
To become such a seller you need to, and I quote "Have at least 100 transactions and $1,000 in sales with US buyers over the most recent 12-month period." and "Have an eBay account that's been active for at least 90 days"
See all requirements here: http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/top-rated.html

Wow, calling him a "sob" seems a bit harsh. He has a small image at the very bottom of the listing saying "eBay Top Rated Seller", that could have easily come as part of the template for the listing. Anyone can see his seller rating so it would be very hard to mislead anyone.
I look forward to receiving the product doing a review so that I can prove you wrong.

it's not part of a template, it's something he intentionally added to his listing. You should be cautious with ebay sellers from china with low feedback like this and claiming that he is a top rated seller just shows the seller might be dishonest about other things in his listing. Not saying you wont get what you ordered but who knows what the quality will be like until you can review it. Ebay can be pretty sketchy esp. sellers from china imo, i wish they would add a review feature like amazon.

I got mine in aliexpress and it was a fake. The packaging must have a XIAOMI original seal. Plus, check if you can charge the battery at the same time you use it to charge a device. If you can only do one of both, it's a fake and might damage your device or catch fire. I asked for a refund.

Thanks everyone for your reviews - they coincided with my NewTrent 5000mAh battery pack expiring, so I went and bought one from geekbuying.com
I was looking to avoid cheap copies, hopefully I have done so. It's a bit more expensive than the €15 quoted in the original post, it cost me €19.50 with free postage from the States.
It'll take a while to arrive I guess - I'm not holding my breath - I'll post my findings once it arrives.

This is the one: http://www.geekbuying.com/item/product-325638/
I bought one from link in first post for 20.99$+shipping: http://www.chinabuye.com/xiaomi-por...-m2-m2s-m3-red-rice-apple-and-android-devices.
It didn't came in plastic case but instead it came in white cardboard box, which can be seen in link above.
Still didn't open it to see which batteries are inside, but it's working ok so far. Charged phone few times and charged it 2 times. So far nothing is fried And, as GFXi0N suggested above, pass-through is working in my unit.
Also, based on images floating on the web, look of bank and cable looks like its real: http://en.miui.com/thread-19104-1-1.html
Just received mine, it took just 9 days (free postage) to reach Spain from geekbuying.com
Original packaging, as per the photos in the first thread. It took me about 5 minutes of struggling to get inside the clear plastic case, each end has a near-invisible piece of tape, in the shape of the case end!
I'm used to a 5000mAh pack, so this is bulky and heavy in comparison, but the additional weight and bulk is mathematical, can't do anything about that. Instructions in perfect Chinese. The on button switches on, and it will switch off after a few minutes of inactivity (I can confirm this) or if the maximum voltage is reached on the phone.
It charges while being charged, so that´s a good sign.
this is really a great quick way to charge your phone. I have the smaller battery pack and it does help in case of emergency. Got mine from: www.antelife.com.The 5200mAh was only $16 with free delivery. It is an original xiaomi product as well. I think they do the 10000 mAh for about $25

No, Electrical appliances draw the current they need up, to the maximum the charger supplies. So the N4 will draw approx 1Ah, whereas eg a tablet would need more than 2A, but would draw 2A

Ok, bought one from xiaomishop a month and a half ago. Opened a PayPal dispute some days ago because it still did not arrive. I live in Spain, not in Antarctica, for God's sake..... But when i got the batteries i realized that although they look almost exactly like the real thing, they are counterfeits... 1. They will go in the phone but they don't fit as smoothly as the original battery. 2. NFC does not work. 3.theres is no white sticker on the top.
Now when i looked again on ebay to find real authentic Samsung OEM batteries I realized that this dude is all over the place there probably like 15 accounts selling this same battery all from the same place: Kennedale, TX (search for oem s5 battery on eBay and see how many of them are from Kennedale, TX).
So I think I'm going to call eBay and report him because I don't other people like me to buy from one of his 15 accounts by mistake. But I also want good replacement batteries, preferably OEM, does anyone have any recommendations of where I can find them?

About 95% of "Genuine" batteries on Ebay will be fake, so the important thing is you've learned your lesson never trust sellers even with massive positive ratings.

it's the same thing with cases, cables, etc on eBay.
If you're paying $11 bucks for an EOM, sorry dude but c'mon you must know its a FAKE...
The seller is obviously trying to rip people off no doubt. And Aryehzev is right to report him. Common sense says if something is too good to be true it nearly always is. Gen battery that cheap when a device is new would raise my suspicion unless it was from a trusted big name retailer.
Thanks for the warning though.

The numbers say it would be within 30 min of OEM...But who knows
I've given up on anything "authentic" in Ebay. Bought an S5 otterbox and it was clearly counterfiet after I opened the box. Texture was completely different and didn't even fit my phone correctly. Got a full refund from ebay. One thing to watch out, these scammers, which they are, open multiple accounts and ship from China to a company here in US that will re-label the package with US postmarks. The scammers utilize ID theft to open accounts in other peoples names also, just a friendly reminder.

When I first use a non-NFC battery from Onite,it only last the same time as my 1 year old OEM battery,Then they told me to charge and fully drain the battery for the first 3 cycles,I follow their suggestion and it works, the battery can last even longer than the OEM one.
I'm thinking about replacing the battery in my 1.5 year old nexus 5 with a new one.
Looking on eBay, it seems like there are hundreds of sellers selling supposedly genuine LG BL-T9 batteries for around $10-15.
Does anyone have recommendations for reputable sellers who's selling the genuine batteries and not knockoffs or old stock batteries that have been sitting for a long time? It would be pretty disappointing to go through the effort of swapping batteries only to end up with a subpar battery.
Just go to a reputable source and stay away from eBay

Everything on eBay and almost everything on Amazon appear to be fake based on a detailed look at the reviews.
I think "100% Geniune Original" is eBay code for fake.
The only place I'd feel confident of getting a proper LG BL-T9 battery would be the official LG parts suppliers.
e.g. https://lg.encompass.com/item/10389517/
Unfortunately the markup in Australia is quite ridiculous and the US parts supplier won't ship batteries to AU

Apparently lithium batteries can't be sent at to "Australia, Germany, Italy, Laos or Macao" without special courier arrangements which negates any possible savings.
Probably easier for me to ask a friend in the states to receive a package for me and forward it to Australia as "Electronic Parts" or similar... considering all the fakes from eBay come from HK or China via airmail with no special packaging or courier arrangements I wouldn't feel the least bit guilty shipping one genuine battery to myself via post in the same fashion.
This is the one that I purchased from amazon. It is definetely an OEM battery. You just have to make sure you get it from the same seller as me and all will be fine. The one you want is from Ekhan electronics. This is the link https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00NCJMQXK/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have been using mine since Sept with no issues at all and around 5 hours of SOT.

even from Ekhan electronics, it won't be genuine. read people's reviews. i bought one (from ekhan electronics) before there were that many bad reviews hoping it's the real thing. it puffed up after about a month.
i ended up getting a third party battery; one that wasn't pretending to be genuine LG but carried proper 2 year warranty in my country. unfortunately, i don't remember the brand and i'm not going to open my phone to find out. i caused enough damage last time i opened it.
The problem with amazon is they combine reviews. So the reviews that are shown are for all the sellers that can be chosen in that listing. I assure you this is the real deal as I have purchased multiple and ripped them apart. So like I said those 245 reviews are not all his. When you go to a listing on Amazon you can select from multiple sellers in that listing and all their reviews get combined which is very confusing and dumb. This guy most definetely swollen the real deal.
I just bought one from spareslg.com (Portugal, shipped to Canada). Installed it no problem, but found when I turned the phone on the battery was at 47%. I assumed it should have been at 100% like any other regular brand-new battery you buy off the shelf. I e-mailed spareslg to ask what was up with that, and they haven't replied. My engineer buddy says the batteries can discharge while sitting on the shelf, so he doesn't think it's weird. My feeling is it's OEM. I haven't noticed any difference in battery life, though, compared to the one I replaced, so either it's a used OEM, or my phone is the problem.

they discharge itself, the thing is about when they get the first charge after first discharge, thats the first cycle and in that moment the batt starts his lifecycle

FWIW fake batteries are not synonymous with junk batteries. I've been getting 5-6hrs SOT with my year old fake battery I got from etradesupply. The only reason I knew it was fake is that the temperature is stuck on 29*C. No functional temp sensor but I'm getting better battery life than I did with the stock battery that came with the phone. I'll let you know if it catches on fire and burns me or my house.
Does anyone know anything about these batteries?
Empire Battery BLP-1385-2.3
I tried to send a question through their website contact form, but there was an error and it wouldn't go through. They appear to be new batteries, the same specs as the original OEM BL-T9 batteries. I wonder if they have working temperature sensors.
It's tough to accept that the best option is to try to find an old oem battery that has been sitting on a shelf for 4 years. I think I'd pay around $50 for a real new battery with the same specs.
I think this battery is OEM i ordered it and will try:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Origin...var=591145508905&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
Since it has all the right data i think its OEM, usually when people sell on ebay they blur out the logo for non oem stuff, not the case with this one, waiting for it to arrive and we'll see.

If the battery that you buy it's the same as the image, will be original.
I'm just trying to find a genuine Samsung brand new battery for my girlfriend. Is this legit? If not, can you point me in the right direction? Is there a decent extra capacity battery?

Hard to say. A lot of people complain on Amazon and eBay that "Samsung"-branded batteries are counterfeit. This is complicated by the fact that some people get good ones and some get duds from the same seller.
Unless you pay a premium to order DIRECTLY from Samsung, there's no way to be completely sure ahead of time.
As far as aftermarket, Anker is a reputable brand.
Yeah....looking at your link, it states 'sold without warranty' that's kind of a dead giveaway right there.....
I know for a fact that Samsung provides 3 months warranty on their batteries.
And don't even bother with ebay, even if the seller states 'Samsung official/original part' it simply......Isn't....
I can pretty much guarantee that unless the eBay seller is Samsung, it's gonna be fake....I'd even be wary of buying Anker batteries from eBay. ...
I do use aftermarket batteries made by Anker, but I've ALWAYS brought them from Amazon. I'd advise you to do the same.....either that or get the replacement directly from Samsung...

Exactly.
It's trivial to print a sticker that looks like the ones applied to the genuine batteries. Chinese manufacturers are really good at counterfeiting products.
A lot of times, the eBay and Amazon sellers don't even know they're selling counterfeit batteries, and their inventory is a mix of genuine and counterfeit. You might notice right away that your counterfeit battery doesn't hold as much of a charge, or you might not notice for weeks or months until the battery just dies prematurely.
Buy direct from Samsung, or buy direct from Anker.
When I had an S3, I bought "genuine" Samsung batteries from Amazon. One worked just fine. I was using the other one and noticed my battery life was starting to suck, and then that my phone wasn't sitting level on the table anymore because it was dramatically bulging.
As long as you make sure that it says "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com" in the listing page then it is a genuine battery shipped from Amazon.com themselves and not a third party supplies. I have ordered 2 of these batteries and both are real oem with NFC. If you want to make sure you buy from Amazon click on "frustration free packaging" as Amazon is the only supplier of "FF" packaged oem batteries right now.

My friend and I both have S5s and I order from Amazon and he orders from eBay. He has had 2 fake batteries in a row (even though the picture looks real) and even a fake 10,000mah backup battery. The trick with eBay is, if you aren't in a rush you can take a gamble and save some money, because the buyer protection on eBay is amazing.... but don't buy anything on there for time-sensitive needs. Good luck.
It is definitely fake, I read a review saying it has no NFC antenna.

That's a pretty good tip. You'll never find 100% reliability, but this seems like a good way to maximize your chances of getting a legit battery. I have no experience with this seller, but I have seen reviews for unrelated products that were tagged "ships from and sold by Amazon.com" that turned out to have counterfeits mixed in.
I think I *should* be ok with the batteries I've bookmarked for purchase......
Anker batteries sold by Anker (on Amazon)........

I have purchased a used S5 G900F from Germany, I have no idea of the condition of it battery.
But as soon my phone this arrive, I am going to measure how much energy the battery receives as charge, with this USB gadget / LCD power monitor.
I am using it for 2~3 years about discovering Li-ion remaining capacity of used batteries.

you can buy a battery from samsung website
I would never buy a Samsung branded battery online. Since there are tons of them that are fake or counterfeit. Hard to know unless you buy directly from Samsung stores like on Amazon. IMO there are better alternatives, ie, Anker, Polarcell.
I have one battery says "SDI" on it and other saying made in Korea.Im not sure which is genuine but both have NFC and both last over a full day.Im thinking the SDI is fake?
