i'm having the same problem with facebook and instagram pictures not loading since Wednesday or Thursday. It works fine on wifi though, but not on 4G. I was using the BoneStock rom and then switched to BeansRom with a full clean install, still have the problem. I'm getting great 4G speeds on speed tests can stream HD youtube videos fine with no buffering and Google+ app flies and pictures load instantly. Just facebook not loading pictures in newsfeed and also most contact pictures not loading and instagram, same story. Have no idea what the problem can be.

I'm also having this problem. I just use the web browser version of fb for now.

It doesn't work on some roms. Use haxsync from the playstore. It works awesome, and you get full resolution pics, unlike the default Facebook sync.

I think we're talking about two different things here...
Are you talking about in app pictures, such as what's posted on the timeline? Because I sometimes have to wait for a minute or two for them to actually load. This is not an android 4.3 issue, as its been happening for me for months.
If its a Google contacts Facebook picture you're talking about, then that's never ever EVER worked properly for some reason, and the user above who suggested haxsync is spot on, it works great.

Better Facebook app?

Hi guys, just wondering whether anyone can help to create a better Facebook app?The official Facebook app is great but just some issues with it.I can't seem to view photos that doesn't come with a album and sometimes, the Birthday of some people aren't shown.Lastly, maybe a function to be able to view your mutual friends with a certain someone would be great! This Facebook 'part' I unfortunately feel that the iPhone Facebook app is actually better...So please, any app developer for a better Facebook app???

Bloo 1.5, not available on market, but you can probably find it at any of the popular file charing websites (mods: its a free app, so im not promoting warez)...or if youd like i can upload the .apk for you to download and try out
It has chat, notifications for EVERYTHING (including wall/status posts, photo comments, etc.), birthday alerts...pretty much everything
Great! Can you upload the .apk please?
Enjoy....let me know what you think....and dont forget to slam the "thanks" button, glad to help
I just tried this but I can't get facebook to give me the six digit code I need. I gives me an error to try again later. I guess I'll have to do that and see what happens.

a lot of people have this issue. i pulled this from the developers blog (http://fbandroid.wordpress.com/), give it a shot, and report back
Update: Kate from the comments provided some instructions to get the 6 digit code! Thank you Kate!
1. In your browser, enter in http://m.facebook.com (this will bring up the mobile site)log-in to your facebook account.
2. In the “Search” box at the BOTTOM of the page type in “Bloo for Android” and click on “Search”.
3. Click on the application “Bloo for Android” (NOT the group).
4. Then click on the button that says “Allow”. This will link your Facebook account with Bloo.
5. Now, from your phone go to your Bloo application and click on “Get Code” and it should take you to the code page!
6. Enjoy!
*Note* I used the m.facebook.com site directly from my PC, I didn’t try it on my phone… so if it doesn’t work on your phone, try it on your home computer.
I hope this helps out a lot of people!
That wireless flawlessly. You saved me alot of time later on trying to figure that out. There is one option I see missing. The search option. I don't want to scroll through all my friends just to get to one of their pages.
Edit, I figured it out how to do it.

well you can either use the side scroller, or long press your phones menu button to bring up your keyboard, and it searches as you type
or if your phone has a search button, just press that
One more thing: keep in mind this app isnt flawless, it may suck your battery a little bit....and also ive noticed that if you get multiple notifications in a shrot period of time, it might skip over some......other than those two things, its certainly good enough that ive been using it since its release
Does it let you edit and post comments?

Guys I need help.I can't seem to view photos of myself or other people. It says there's no album. And events are not shown too...
You cant easily click a photo on the facebook apps stream and have it point you to the photo, usually it dumps you to the profile instead...
Sort of on topic sort of off topic...
I don't think people should have to make better alternatives to the Facebook app.
I think facebook should get their bloody act together and give us a suitable app that:
Has all the features of the utterly fantastic Iphone one.
DOES NOT RAPE BATTERY.
If everyone rates it 1 star we will get an update. simple as that...
Personally I have uninstalled Facebook, wiped it from the system folder, I use SyncMyPix for contact photos and I use Tweetdeck to pull in my facebook updates. for anything else I need on facebook I use the touch site...because what the app carried on sending you to anyway...
Ive noticed ive gained 3hours per charge since uninstalling all traces of facebook. It is just poorly coded, poorly presented, crippled bloatware.
The new F-plus on the market is pretty good. Offers push notifications and news feed now. Doesnt have chat. Go facebook chat is pretty good though.
I definintely like f+ better, I think I'll keep it and use it.

Hero and Instagram

So as many of you have already heard, Instagram dropped for we Android users about a week ago. Google Play won't let me find the app, so I downloaded the latest apk and installed it using a file manager. The app does everything fine except let me upload photos. It'll allow me to take/choose a photo from my gallery, crop it, but crashes at the filter screen. Has anyone looked into this at all, or am I just gonna have to avoid this app until I choose to upgrade my phone?
Oh, and I'm running CM7 if it matters at all.
100 Views and no responses? Looks like we're all screwed huh? XD
Might be. Didn't know about this program until today.
avoid app until you upgrade your phone i ran into similiar problems with my hero
I managed to get working by downloading and installing the apk itself

Contact display pictures

Hey guys, I use Haxsync due to the bug where contact display pictures look horrible. But with the HTC contacts it shows the Google pictures and has a link to the Haxsync profile.
I haven't used an HTC in a long time and wanted to know how to get my high quality pictures to show. Anyone know how? I'm low on sleep and probably missing something simple.
While I can't find a global option for this, you can edit individual contact pics by editing a contact, and then clicking on their pic. Then you'll see various sources to draw their pic from.

Dang, that's what I had figured.
I see guys in the HTC One X forum saying Haxsync is working so I'm not sure what I'm missing. It shows all the Google pictures and not the Haxsync one... hmm. Sleep deprived so I'll take another crack at it later.
BTW, the device is working great after flashing those files. Haven't run into any trouble. Yehawwww!
Could be a bug that's specific to the XL. I've noticed a few other bugs that I'm going to have to submit to HTC at some point. Like when listening to music and a notification comes in (GMail, event reminder, whatever,) the music gets all weird and jittery, or that the data rates can be spotty, regardless of cellular data or WiFi.
Glad I could help with the booting/recovery issue! I'm looking forward to seeing the community grow. I don't think I've been this excited to run Android and be involved with XDA since I was running Android 0.8 (yep, pre-release!) on my HTC Vogue.

[Q] Uploading images

I've noticed something a tad strange with photo uploads. I can't confirm but it seems to me it started happening when I started using JB builds of AOKP and CM10. When I upload an image directly from my phone to Google+ (the two big ones I noticed), they are very low resolution. Has anyone else experienced that?
EDIT: Uploaded image from my phone was fine to these forums, perhaps it's just a Google+ thing - at which point I'd assume it's an app issue. Anyone else seeing similar behaviour?

I don't use G+, but my photos upload to Dropbox and I haven't had any issues with resolution/image quality at all. I'm guessing it's a G+ app specific issue or a setting or something like that.

Thought it might be something like that - no settings that I can see, maybe it's just not playing nice with JB.

[Q] Dropbox Camera Upload feature not working in background? Requires app open?

On my Galaxy S3 and S4, whenever I took a picture, it would immediately upload it to Dropbox using the camera upload feature in Dropbox.
I have the same settings on my Nexus 5, but it only seems to work when I open the Dropbox app. It does not happen automatically after I take a picture. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but it still seems to have the same issue.
Is this a Nexus 5 or Samsung thing or is something not working here? Can anyone else confirm that they are or are not having this issue?
Thanks!
I am having similar issues. Seems the app is not auto uploading immediately or at all.

Probably. KitKat can be a little aggressive with the memory management.
Can anyone say whether or not this was working properly on the Nexus 4? That would help determine if it's a Samsung thing or a Kit Kat thing.
Thanks for the responses so far! If I can get some more info I'll try contacting the dev.

Dont know how it would be a samsung thing. They are both made by LG, but I did not have any issues with my nexus 4 uploading automatically. It was on 4.2 and 4.3, I never used it on 4.4.
My last two phones were the Samsung Galaxy S3 and S4. I had instant camera upload on them so I am not sure if Dropbox is supposed to work the same on Nexus devices or if Samsung/Touchwiz has something else going on that helps it.
A good example is Facebook sync. It works on Touchwiz but not on the Nexus 5.
If the Nexus 4 never had instant camera upload I guess I can't expect it on the Nexus 5. I'm hoping that's not the case.

Dropbox camera sync works fine without me opening the app. I switched from a note 2. On the note2 the upload was almost instant.... On the n5 there is a few minutes delay on the sync.

I just double check my setting again. The auto upload is on, set to Wi-Fi and data. The only difference I saw was. It limit me to 2.5 mb or smaller; you have to go and change it to all photos.

Thanks - I checked my settings again as well. I have tried Wifi only and Wifi + Data, with no change. The size limit only shows when you set it to Wifi + Data and the only options I see are "Under 25 MB" and "All Files". The phone doesn't take any photos near 25 MB size so that should never be a problem.
I am noticing this exact issue on my Nexus 5. I'm glad I caught it before I started deleting videos off my device. I record videos of my kids every day (using that 1 Second Everyday app) and I rely on Dropbox to upload the videos automatically. I delete videos just assuming the are on dropbox. \
Hoping for a fix...

Today's Dropbox update did not help.
I installed it, ran Dropbox, then closed it and took a picture. 45 minutes later and it's still not uploaded to Dropbox.

Odd. I have not noticed any issues. I just snapped a pic in my office and the picture immediately appeared in my Camera Uploads folder on my computer. My settings are Wifi or Data and files under 25 Mb.

So after I installed the Dropbox update yesterday, I ran the app and then tested...same thing...no camera upload.
Today it seems to be working properly. Perhaps it needed a reboot to reset the background services? There was a SuperSU update later yesterday that I rebooted for...
Can you guys test again, after installing the Dropbox update and rebooting, and see if it's working for you now?
Thanks
DropBox is uploading pictures I take almost immediatley. No problems here
It seems to upload fine after a reboot, but after a while the background auto-uploading stops and only resumes after launching the app...

Yeah that seems to be the exact same thing I'm finding.
After a reboot it works fine...then a few hours later, nothing, until you open the app.
Dropbox upload is working fine for me, but I use Google + photos for backing up my photos and videos. Seems better for me.

Things that you can do:
1- Clear Data + Clear Cache + Force Stop (All can be done from App Info) then Restart app and see if it works.
2- Uninstall then install Dropbox again (reinstalling)
3- Clear Cache & Dalbvik Cache from the recovery
4- Flash a custom kernel(Franco Kernel)
5-Wait for an update from Dropbox (maybe a bug)
