[Q] Can't turn on my phone? - HTC One S

Hi,
I think I bricked my phone. I tried to root it using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583427
I installed CWM recovery, but when I tried to boot into recovery the screen left saying "Entering recovery.... This build is for development purpouses only etc..." Same after few reboots holding power button for ~ 10 seconds.
So I left my phone on that screen during the night, thinking maybe it takes some time to enter recovery
But in the morning the phone was dead and I can't turn it on.
The screen blinks for a second (see video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bI-gy-hhXq0&feature=youtu.be ) and thats it. Holding Power, Volume down + Power doesn't help.
Any solution for this?

when you plug your phone to a charger does the red light come on?
you need to get into bootloader again. Saw your video, but what happens when: while holding volume down you press the power button for a second (while still holding volume down until bootloader starts?

Sometimes it does, sometimes it only comes on when i hold the Power + Volume down and goes off when I release Power button, bur then comes on again after a couple of minutes...

So if I read you right, you can get into bootloader? Reflash recovery, then flash a Rom and fastboot a boot.img

No, I was talking about red light. The screen doesn't turn on at all, just a short flash.

I don't know man, maybe someone else will help out here. Hold power button for like 30 seconds. You might have to send it in to be repaired.

My One S never boots up and keep restarting automatically

My One S has worked fine until now. Now, however, it suddenly started to reboot nonstop. I get the first two starting screens, then it shuts down, and in a few seconds it starts again. The process continues until the battery is dead. I've tried to hold in the shutdown button for various amounts of time and it leads to the process halting, ie the mobile keeps being off. But once I release the button the process continues once again.
Any ideas?
Can you get in to bootloader?

Dont seem to work. Ive tried multiple times to press both power and volume while the One S is shutdown. Have anyone heard of this problem before?
Are you HTC Dev unlocked?
Rooted?
Hold down Power you will see all 3 keys at bottom flash just keep holding, this should hard reboot
If not reboot device when screen and lights go off hold volume down then factory restore

What else I can do, I'm so panicked at the moment, please help me.
I can't get to the menu screen, it just keeps reloading between htc one s and htc logo please help.
I was having this issue the other day. It took me a while to get it figured out and this thread helped me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630459
To get into bootloader was hit and miss for me. I found that the best and most consistent way was to hold down the power + down volume, let go of the power while holding down the down volume after 5 sec and then press the power again then let go of both buttons.

How to boot into recovery?

I'm trying volume up, home, and power. No luck. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

Got it. Volume up and down at the same time, and the power button. I kept them held down and the phone just kept intermittently vibrating. I had to let off the buttons after the first vibration.
Power on while holding down BOTH volume buttons when NOT plugged into the computer USB (because this is also the way to get into download mode).

Had this problem too when it would just vibrate the whole time. good thing I learned the differences.

I tried this (both volume buttons and power without usb), but it just boots normally. CWM doesnt come up. I'm stuck in a boot loop right now so I can't use my phone unless I can get into CWM.

Pull the battery and put it back in. Then hold vol - & vol + and power until the 'samsung' logo appears. Then release all. I use two fingers to hold both volume buttons and then my thumb for the power button. I've heard of people thinking they are capable of holding both volume buttons with one finger lol and they usually have issues. This is how you get into recovery regardless of whether you have cwm or factory recovery.

[Q] Help ! phone wont turn on HTC ONE S

I wanted to install cynagoenmod so
1. I unlocked bootloader using HTC dev
2. I flashed cwm recovery
3. I flashed boot.img extracted from the cynagoenmod release
it was stuck in the boot-up at the HTC logo with the disclaimer text "this build is meant for developers....."
I had to run an errand so I left it as is.
when I got back it wouldn't turn on
wont blink the soft-keys after holding the power button for 10 seconds
wont boot into bootloader when holding both the vol- and power button
when connected to the charger the LED stays on orange for about a minute and turns off
only response it does a flash of white (like this like when u close the TV effect ) after holding the power button for 20 seconds
any advice would be welcome
Just keep holding the power button and also the volume down button for 20-30 seconds. It should pop into HBOOT.
If you see the screen flashing white that should mean it isn't hard bricked.

That's strange. Does your PC detect it when you connect via USB?
Plug it in and if nothing happens, press/hold all three buttons in different combinations and sequences and hopefully something should happen.

[Q] How to shut this thing off(one S villeC2)?

This might be the stupidest quetsion ever but, I'm totally helpless.
I need to access the recovery, I flashed a rom which stucks at the boot screen, I need to flash another yet I cannot shut this thing of. I keep pressing the power button for 10secs, 3buttons starts to flash and screen goes dark. When I let it go, it restarts.
How can I power of this device without accessing the OS?

Hold it until the buttons stop flashing, about 20 seconds.

I keep pushing the button for way longer than that. Still it reboots.

Stuck in bootloop, can't get to recovery

I have a Moto G XT1034 that is stuck in a boot loop. I am not able to get to fastboot or recovery, it just keeps rebooting over and over again. It started at about 50% battery, now it's at 0% even though it's been plugged in for most of that time. This device has an unlocked bootloader, is rooted, and has been running kitkat for almost a year. Nothing that I can think of has changed today.
Things I have tried:
Holding vol up + vol down + power for 4 seconds
Holding vol down + power for 4 seconds
Holding power for 120 seconds
Letting the battery drain completely, and then plugging it in. It just starts with the reboot cycle again.
Any ideas?
That doesn't seem right. Try holding volume down and power for longer than 4 seconds.
Here's a video of me holding vol down + power for 120 seconds, as advised in Q28 of this sticky. Doesn't get me to fastboot.
I have a second moto g here, and have swapped the batteries, so the broken one has a fully charged battery. The bootloop continues when fully changed. Video here. Holding vol down + power for a few seconds, or 120 seconds also doesn't do anything when fully charged.

flash costom recovery....using adb fastboot command
Thanks for the replies.
I am not able to power it off. I have found two ways of "powering off" which are to either let the battery drain, or to hold buttons during the black screen part of the boot loop.
If I wait for the black screen part of the boot loop, and quickly press vol down + power, it will stay black as long as I'm holding those buttons. If I hold them for 4 second and release, it then enters the boot loop a few seconds later. If I hold them for 120 seconds and release, it does the same thing a few seconds after releasing.
I am not able to open an adb connection to the device. "adb devices" shows no devices in all phases of the boot loop.
To predict future concerns, I have the proper drivers, and have used adb quite a bit to work with this device. Also I can use adb on the second moto g with no problems. So my pc is set up and configured correctly.

Just remember to acess it when you have time to do all the tutorials that I've linked. Doing it with attention probably will solve your problem;
:good:
BobDiaz thanks for the suggestion. I still can't get to fastboot though, so this never does anything other than "waiting for device" If i plug in my second moto g, of course, then mfastboot works fine once I boot into fastboot.

in black screen you must do vol+power process 2 times..... first time nothing happen... in second time you press the power+ volume down the fastboot menu is shown...
That's very strange. Makes me think there's a hardware problem. The only point I can mention (sure you've tried this, but just to be sure) is to keep it simple: if your phone doesn't reboot after holding the power button down for about 10 seconds (with or without pressing the vol down button), then you almost certainly have hit a hardware issue. Especially if you've taken the lengths of swapping batteries and not seeing a difference.
I know that with my 1st gen Moto G, when I'm stuck in a boot loop after too much mucking around, I just hold vol down and power for ten or so seconds, and then it boots into fastboot mode. That's how the phone was designed. Best of luck.
Correction: the phone shuts down in just over ten seconds, and when it does I let go of the power button but continue holding the volume down key for several more seconds before I reach fastboot. As well, since I'm about to use fastboot, I've always got my phone plugged into USB when I do this. But, I just tried it unplugged, and it worked the same.
Try pulling the battery then holding up on volume and power button and home same time

Hi TracvisTx, T
I just ran into exactly the same issue as you have mentioned here.
After doing downgrade from Lollipop to Kitkat, my moto g is stuck at bootloader warning. It power on's, gets stuck on warning, reboots. Does not charge to more than 0%.
I was wondering if you could come out of this issue and how? I am also unable to enter into fastboot mode! I have tried all the described combinations of power + vol (up/down) buttons.
Please help.
Thanks,
@beerbarfly - Hold vol down (or up) while turning on wall charger.

lost101,
The screen blanks out, then it shows battery charging (0%), then goes to "bootloader unlocked warning" and then back to black screen.
In all this, even if you keep vol + power buttons pressed, nothing happens.
Infact, if it is in blacked-out screen step, and i keep these buttons pressed, it remains in black-out, does not even go to charging screen....
Looks like that is what is called as bricked phone
