First of all Hi!, i'm a new user.
(sorry english is not my primary language)
I'm sorry if this is asked a lot of times but i could not find an answer that seems correct for my problem or that i understand completely.
I have flashed my phone with xxKPE then xxKPQ from Misledz guide (Awesome guide BTW) then i CF rooted my phone.
Everything worked fine till i tryed to install Frankensteinmod, i saw a video of it and looks prety cool.
Well i followed the instructions, copyed the zip file to SD, entered recovery mode, and upgraded with the choose a zip option.
After this my phone got stuck in Samsung logo and restart everytime.
I know i can enter download mode and recovery mode cuz i tryed and works.
My questions are:
Can i recover my phone without re-flashing from stock xxKPE?
If i try to reinstall Frankensteinmod is it possible to get my phone functional again?
Every comment and reply is greattly apreciated.
Thanks.
You should install thefrank'sMod by going into install zip from sdcard.
Not update from sdcard.
And if it doesn't solve. Then you may try entering recovery and do a factory reset. The rom will most probably boot.

Hello experts,
Yesterday I tried to root my HTC Sensation XE! First I unlocked this device using the htcdev then u found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1668276 and i followd the instructions and finished. In the HBOOT menu this device is still listed as S-ON but i downloaded the Rootchecker app and it confirms that the device is routed.
I am trying to update to the jellybean 4.1.2 using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782009.
The cyogenmod bootscreen is stuck loading over 10min so i assumed that i am doing something wrong, so i restored it to the original ROM using clockworks.
If someone has any ideas please feel free to comment and remark.
Thanks =)
Use 4ext with smart flash on,
What it seems to me is with clock work it doesn't write the boot IMG. With that being said it would be stuck in a boot loop.

Thank you sir. I shall try this today, and replay the output produced
You're welcome!
Do you know what ROM you are going to flash?

I had no sucsess .
let me explain the procedure.
First i am turning off my phone and remove the battery.
I boot into HBOOT by pressing the volume down and power.
Acess the recove, in which the 4ext menu appears.
I select wipe phone, and after i select delate chace and dalvik
Then i select the install from sd > chose the zip.
i select the CM10 zip and install it and after i select the gaps too.
reboot the phone.
When rebooting the phone stucks the cyanogenmod boot screen
Okay. I had this same problem you are having when I first started getting familiar with flashing ROMs.
If you correctly installed 4ext recovery, go into your settings and select "smart flash on" this will allow you to flash a ROM correctly with out having your s-off. Try that and let me know.

When you flash another rom.. You should do full wipe aka 4EXT - wipe / format - format all partitions except sdcard
Then flash cm10 rom.. You will come out fine

I just rooted my Samsung GT-S5830i
I installed clockwork recover and made a backup too
I would like to install a custom ROM on my phone.. what are the necessary steps to follow before doing so ?
First, make a backup of you current rom. Then I would just go a head and follow whatever directions are supplied for the rom you want (some roms require special work). If no instructions are presented, do a wipe (factory reset or whatever) through cwmr, wipe the dalvik cache (under advanced), and install your rom!
Good luck I'll gladly answer any questions/problems you have.

It wasn't that. The only thing you must do before installing it is to root your phone, after that you just follow the custom rom's specific installing instructions.

Last night, I tried it again, I downloaded the ported jelly blast v 3 for s5830i, made a back up of my current ROM, wiped my data, wiped dalvik cache, placed the jelly blast in my sd card and flashed it through clock work recovery, I still got stuck in a boot loop..

You can see option for toggling in your recovery mode. Select that and then flash Rom.

There was no toggling option in my recovery mode..
Please do search properly. Usually u can see option for toggling signature verification when u select apply update from sdcard option....
If u can't find then try installing recovery mod again.

I installed recovery again, I found the toggle signature verification option, could you tell me how toggling signature verification makes a difference?
By toggling signature verification, verification of digital sign of your zip file is skipped. Thus allowing to use/ flash ROMS( most of them are unsigned)
Did that work??

Don't just say it.... hit THANKS
The last couple of times I experienced this
The last couple of times that I got stuck in a bootloop, what fixed it was a re-wipe of data, cache and dalvik after the installation of the ROM. Don't know if that helps at all but hope that it does. That could be ROM specific, but it might be worth a shot (easier than restoring to stock again).
Examples of where developers have suggested wiping cache/dalvik after flashing the ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957348
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1822409
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1964339
Can't find where I saw the wipe data section, it was somewhere.
Also, I use SMS backup, which syncs SMS's with gmail, so you can back those up and restore should you change again. Available in the play store.
Hi all,
just bought HTC Butterfly X920D 3 days ago from a guy. I realise he has root this device bcos I cannot do OTA update. System check download the update but failed to install. After that I search for a fix n found CWM & Rom manager. I flashed recovery & try to apply the update manually buy CWM says E:Cant mount sdcard, can access cache, blocking device required. Then I look for another fix and arrived here. After all that mess, I tried to factory reset the device via setting in phone is but after resetting n restarts, my HTC is entering recovery again and I opted from the menu selected "boot systems now". It booted andall the contents is still there!
Looks like the reset function isn't working anymore. Any suggestions on what I shud do?
Thx on advance. Cheers
you have to install the original recovery before applying the OTA.
I have it here
Flash it via bootloader

Update: I send my HTC to a repair shop & pay them to do factory reset & unroot. Now I pickup the device & it has been unroot and stock roms again. The problem is it still cannot OTA update also.. I thought after return the phone to standard unroot & factory reset it will be able to receive update. No luck here.. any advise?
Waste MYR60 for this. That's about 20usd. Demmm

I had rooted galaxy fit with 2.3.6. Today i did factory reset on my phone including wiping memory card(as i had increased my internal memory using external sd). Since wiping and reset my phone is continuoudly rebooting. I also tried restore option but nothing happened. I do not know much about it. Please help.

Did u use cwm recovery to format the samsung stock rom??:what: If yes... then it's O.K. No need to worry. Just flash any custom rom (cyanogenmod 7 recommended for flashing the very 1st time over samsung stock rom).
Note: Do format /system b4 flashing.
I do not have much idea about this. Would u please explain the procedure.
Sent from my Micromax A116 using xda app-developers app
Enter recovery mode by pressing & holding Home+Power buttons together when the phone is switched off.
Since ur phone isn't turning on & u mentioed that restore option is not working...I guessed that u might have cwm recovery...coz restore option belongs to cwm recovery... CWM recovery is used for custom roms...while the Android OS installed on the phone at the time of purchase has it own different recovery (known as stock recovery). Stock recovery has much less options than cwm recovery.
BTW how did u format ur phone...?? from settings or via recovery??:sly:
I did factory reset from setting. After that it restarted and opened the boot menu from wher i selected the wipe option
Sent from my Micromax A116 using xda app-developers app
During formatting via settings, the phone automatically reboots after succesful format. & boots directly to home screen (not ny boot menu).
Now can i get my phonr back in initial stage by flashing any rom or i will have to go to service centre.

You can get your phone back to initial stage by flashing a stock rom from http://www.sammobile.com/. There you will find a stock rom for your phone.
