Problems with CROMI 4.7-general responsiveness issues - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I need some serious ous help and advice. I'm having lots of problems with CROMI 4.7 and my TF300T. My problem is that the screen will freeze and do nothing moments at a time, and also has problems waking up when power pressed. For example I'll be browsing and then all of a sudden nothing works, I'll have to wait minutes before I get a message that the app I'm using is not responding. It happens with any app ie Feedly, Chrome. So annoying I want to Hulk Smash! I'm on Hunds kernel and I have not done any factory reboot or memory of wipes as I'm not certain it will fix the issues. Further the tablet takes forever to wake up when I press the power button! CROMI worked awesome in version 3.5 but I would hate to roll back...! Please help!

well if you havnt done a full wipe thats gonna be your problem as for big changes its better to wipe everything, so i would use titanium backup to back your app (not system apps though just user apps) and back them up to your micro sd card then make sure you have the right 2.5.0.0 twrp and the latest cromi-x which is v5 right now then put that on your micro sd card then use twrp to wipe your tablet by going to wipe then swipe for factory reset that will erase all apps and there data then just flash cromi-x and restore your apps with titanium backup.
cromi-x v5 is flying for me mate

CM10 ALPHA2 Messaging stoped

I recently flashed the cm10 alpha 2 build it worked great I loved it, still do love it. I made 810 MHz the max cpu speed and 192 the min (to try and save battery). I was playing fish live (gay I know, but how can you resist a virtual fish tank?) all of the sudden cm10 boot screen came up never booted, so I held down the power to restart and when I did everything worked great excepet it said messaging has stoped. Every time I click to open my texts nothing happens any ideas?

By reflashing you mean, wipe factory data bla bla bla reflash?
I would try clear data/cache for the messaging app. I believe there is also a "framework" process you can clear cache/data to fix that problem....

Try going through the installation process for cm10 without wiping data first and if that doesn't work then reflash with wiping

CPU frequency maxed out

My CPU stays maxed out at 1400 and it doesn't sleep for some reason I tried changing kernels and rom and full wipe but nothing has helped. This has just started occurring the past week or two and I didn't install anything new. Can someone help?

When you switched roms did you do a dirty install? Or did you do a factory reset then install then wipe dalvik and cache? If you did it dirty possible the problem app followed you
I did a fresh install. The only reason I wiped it in the first place is because thus problem came out of nowhere. Better battery stats shows me it's due to media scanner service that my tablet is doing this.

Question
Dear android experts
I'd like to ask, I have Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8000 and having problem in starting app ASPHALT 7 1.0.6, this app always stopped.
My question were:
1. What if my VGA card ( MALI ) is damaged??? does GT-N8000 device still could be started or couldn't be started????
2. what happened to my GT-N8000? because I just changing Jelly Bean version every month, and never got problem, and now I really got a problem, this time from XXCMD1 Multi-CSC Deodexed to XXCME2 Multi-CSC Deodexed downloaded from the XDA forum. from XXCMD1 asphalt 7 1.0.6 played smoothly then I install XXCME2 and asphalt 7 1.0.6 run smoothly, the last time when I feel that XXCME2 wasn't too good and I do the
1. 2x Wipe data / Factory Reset.
2. 2x Wipe Cache
3. 2x Wipe Dalvik Cache
4. 2x in each, Format SDCard, Format Preload, Format Data, Format System, Format Cache
5. Before install XXCMD1 Multi-CSC deodexed.zip I did a Wipe data / Factory Reset again. Then install
All of this were done using CWM 6.0.3.1
After install XXCMD1 my asphalt 7 1.0.6 could not run anymore, and always said app has stopped. only this app could not be started. all other games still could be started. Now I reinstall XXCME2 Multi-CSC deodexed and asphalt 7 1.0.6 still could not be started too.
What happened to my GT-N8000. Does device always changing OS could damage GT-N8000 hardware???
Thank you so much. :crying:
lmao, thanks for hijacking my thread....I think your problem lies more with the asphalt game. If your GPU was damaged then you'd see a lot of artifacts and a lot of other games would crash too.
Also, I fixed my wakelock maxed CPU frequency problem.
Downloaded an app called SGS toolbox and used to to delete corrupt images on SD which fixed the media scanner problem. Now my tablet can sleep in peace. :good:
thank you so much for the answer. Glad to hear your problem solved.

No response

Hi everyone,
I recently started to experience a problem with CM 10 on my Xperia miro. I am using the unofficial builds provided by the FreeXperiaTeam. During random times, when the phone is locked, it stops responding. I am not able to unlock the phone nor see anything on the screen. The buttons on the device also show no response. I am able to turn it back on only after I remove the battery, and put it back in. This issue occurs at least once everyday.
I would really appreciate it if somebody could provide me with a solution for this problem. I would prefer to not factory reset my device.
Thank you very much!

Anytime your running into issues like this on any Custom ROM the best practice is to start over, don't be lazy to save Data ..and Don't do a Factory Reset on a Custom ROM it never fairs well. You can as mentioned wipe dalvik and cache then fix permissions but if your still having issues the get away from that build or redownload it and do a full wipe and fresh install you will save yourself time and headaches. Things go wrong from time to time just start over and do a clean install

Plus, be choosy about what rom you are flashing. Better stay with official/stable releases if you want to avoid problems, and never do a dirty flash. It's better to be careful than lazy.
Thank you all for the help! I don't know how, but the problem has stopped. Sorry about the late reply.

[Q] Hardware issue?

Does anyone have a problem with random "pauses" while using apps? It's totally not noticeable for applications that aren't continually running animations (ie: kindle, text scrolling) but becomes evident when doing thins such as:
- recording video (the "pause" will cause the recording to stop randomly for both continuous and time lapse)
- playing games (will cause the game to go to the pause screen)
- tasker programming (I think this is affected because tasker will randomly close itself without a FC dialog, profiles and tasks seem okay)
I turned on debugging to see if it was a dirty screen or anything, but the touch coordinates don't change at all when the "pause" happens. Anyone have an idea how I can fix this? It is rather crippling to the N5.
I am rooted and I have seen this problem on all roms (and I believe I noticed it on stock too...)
I use a ballistic case, if anyone else has had problems with it...
Thanks in advance!
Using N5 on Carbon + Franco kernel
I guess no one's ever had this problem before? =[
Have you tried factory reset? Fixes most problems. Could be Franco's kernel has a bug in the latest release.

I've tried out a few roms (factory reseting and cache clearing between each one) to see if it was any one problem, but whether AOSP or CM based, I still have the problem =/

Do you mean stock + unrooting? I think I remember having the problem back then, but I don't quite remember before I rooted...I'll try going back to stock w/ root first and see if it's still happening. Thanks!

Yes follow the link in the general to go back to complete stock and that will eliminate anything and everything that could be an issue related to software.
For what it is worth, what method did you use to root?

Hmm, I think it worked. I haven't tested it out for lengthy periods of time but I haven't noticed any pausing anymore! =]
I followed the unroot instructions to return to stock. Although I didn't relock the bootloader.
Then I booted up stock and it seemed like it works fine.
I reinstalled CWM recovery through adb (same as I did the first time) and proceeded to reflash
It seems like the problem is gone now on custom ROM as well. Interestingly enough, if I nandroid restore my old backup, I do get the problem again.
Is there something different between reflashing stock part and wiping from factory/data reset + system partition format + wipe cache + wipe davalik?
Thanks for your help guys! I was sure before that it was hardware since I had the problem on stock w/ root, but thankfully it's not a hardware problem! =]

Newest OTA.... is the lag over?

Should I bother updating?
Does Chrome finally work as it should?

allright. So I'll pull the plunge on this one.
TWRP and the regular update process don't seem to work. So square one from what it seems

I updated with theOTA from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/shield-tablet/general/android-5-1-t3115536 just download the ota and supersu from that link and flash the OTA first then supersu and your done. I didnt even lose recovery after i flashed these!
Oh yeah and I used google sheets and docs for 4 hours this morning without a single freeze or crash normally i would've had at least 10 during that time. So yes its def. worth it.
So far.... I installed about 3 hours after release, it's much much smoother. Only once have I gotten the "what the frig is this thing doing" hang and sputter, while installing busy box. Colors are great. It's like flashing a new screen. Xposed super alpha for 5.1 working. Gravity box works, flat style colored bars works.
Now just waiting for custom kernels....
Depends. Update 3.0 has these issues:
1- Apps optimization on every reboot. (rebooting takes 5 or more minutes)
2- USB OTG not working (tried usb flash drives and nothing)
3- Controller not turning off when button pressed (by design)
I was on 5.0.1 rooted, I wiped everything, flashed 5.1 and rooted again, if you are wondering.

Something may have gone wrong. I've only had the optimization come up if I clear cache or install apps via recovery so far... And I've been trying to get it to crash at reboot....
Judging from the responses in this thread, it looks like it's finally time for me to unlock my bootloader and update from 4.4. Wish me luck, guys!

I've had it come up on several reboots. Many people report it too on the official Nvidia forums.
But the USB OTG thing did it, Im staying on 2.2.1 until a hotfix is released.
I stand corrected, =x I have 2 apps optimizing at boot.
No problems here
I installed ota 3.0 from twrp after wiping everything including internal memory and I have no problems....
No app optimizations after every reboot or havent encountered any lags or sound glitches + wifi performance is much better and no issues with hdmi or usb otg either, played half life 2 for like 2.5 hours straight and had no issues even for a second...
Don't now what happened with the people who are having problems with this update. I have 32gb lte version and the tab performance is perfect now, for me atleast.
So i would suggest wiping everything except external sdcard and flashing full rom + latest supersu
USB OTG is working for me. I can use my 8GB drive.
I also have the Apps optimizing at every boot bug. 189 of them nonetheless... So the wait is huge.
Full OTA dirty flash over previous 2.2.1, dalvik/cache wipe. I hope for a fix soon.
Wipe everything then install full rom, i am pretty sure u wont get apps optimizing every boot. For me after the update the boot cycles are the fastest yet and I also do have around 180 apps...

I wiped everything except internal and external storage, I rooted and I still had the optimizing apps every reboot. And not just 2 or 3 apps, all of them.

Well the only difference now is i wiped internal storage too and i have no idea if this helps but i have selinux mode set to permissive, if this doesnt work then i guess i am one of the lucky ones...
I also found that the speakers has a screeching irritating sounds when playing media on my wifi version.
Anybody else having the same problem?
