Hi there,
I am using a blutetooth keyboard on my note and I have the following problem:
In external keyboard helper pro is currently no way to assign recent apps to a key. If I ALT+TAB it brings up the recent apps menu, but only as long as I hold the ALT key. I can't navigate through that menu by either hitting the tab key or the arrow keys. If I click on the recent apps button on the touchscreen I can select the apps with the arrow keys. I am currently on HyperDrive Rom (samsung based) and I was on cm10.1 before, where ALT+TAB brought up a whole new screen (not the recent apps screen) which worked like on windows.
Any help?

on the Droid you just hold the home button.
on the captivate doing that just brings up my Launcher Pro screen. ( choose between launcher pro or twSamsung )
I know I could just make LP default but I don't want to yet.....
I just cleared my default launcher app (so it brings up the dialogue on which launcher to use when you press home), held down the home button and it still brought up the recent apps screen.
Same here launcher pulls most recent when holding home button. "thanks i didnt know about holding the button "
There's a setting in LauncherPro to set the home screen behavior on long press, double press, etc.
TouchWiz also has this as well. I discovered it from a previos thread, just hold it for an extra second or two and it gives you the last 6 apps you opened.
I have just upgraded to a Motorola RAZR HD from a phone that had physical (capacitive) "back", "home" and "menu" buttons.
I find the fact that in some instances there is no "menu" button when one could be used irritating. ie, when on the home screen, pressing the "menu" button would bring up a menu with settings etc, but with the RAZR HD there in no "menu" button displayed in that instance.
Is there any way to replace the "recent apps" button, or better yet, add a persistent "menu" button to the onscreen button panel?
I'm aware that on the HTC One V, there was a half functional way of doing this, see

Is there a work around (or a menu setting) that would accomplish this?
If you switch to Cyanogenmod you can assign a long press of one of the buttons to work as a menu button.
I'm running Cyanogenmod 10.1 on my One S with Nova Launcher. I have my hardware keys set so Home key opens up Google Now (search) on long press. Recent apps key on long press is Menu. Every once in a while the phone acts as though I'm long pressing these keys when I single press so I can't get home unless I use the back key. The problem is resolved on reboot but I don't want to reboot everytime this happens. Any idea what could be causing this?
Hello I've installed Liberty S4 MAX Rom and is working perfectly only three dots menu is missing in this ROM. I want to remap long pres in recent apps button to show menu.
I've found this:
Edit usr/keylayout/cy8c-touchkey.kl
change the thrid line
from:
key 249 APP_SWITCH
to
key 249 MENUBut it is to replace recent apps with menu and I want than menu appears only with long press.
Any ideas? Thanks!
Mapping hardware keys feature, like in many other ROMs, would be really useful feature. Who agrees, +1 pls!
Yes please,
e.g. the Find 7 has that old and never used "menu" button on the left.
Under Cyanogenmod/LineageOS I can modify this button, so it acts the "recent apps" button.
Although OmniROM allows to change the longpress of this button, the single press can't be changed and therefore still has the "menu" functionality. Quite annoying, because it's useless.
A manual workaround would be to edit the Generic.kl:
1. Open /system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl in Text Editor.
2. Then scroll down to "key 139", this is the key for the hardware menu button. Right now it will say "MENU" next to it. Replace it with "APP_SWITCH" instead.
