Got the new OTA update this week on Skyrocket on my rooted phone. It will down load but when it reboots to install it starts up in in Clockworkmod screen so does not Install. What can I do to install update????
Please search the forums before posting nonsense. You can't receive OTA updates using a custom recovery. You need to be stock. Odin back to stock ICS and then try.

Go to Here and return the device to complete stock (unrooted) form then apply update... remember, if your happy with your device the way it is I wouldn't bother
Thanks Guys. Sorry about posting again before I read other posts of the same. Will just leave it as is till Jelly Bean comes out as one of you suggest. Thanks Again...
I also got the OTA show up on my phone. I do not intend on unrooting and installing at the moment but am curious what the update is for. Anyone know? ATT of course has nothing on their site.

new OTA update
I also received an ota update this morning. The only reason I had my skyrocket rooted was so I could try out the jelly bean roms. restored to stock and now my phone is telling me that the software is up to date and wont let me get the ota again. Does anyone know how I can get it to show up again. By the way I am a noob with this kind of stuff

So I think you go to settings, then about phone, then hit software update. If nothing comes up then hit check for software update

Why are people in these forums so rude to someone who is just asking a simple question? Because I would like to have my GS2 on a full jelly bean firmware that's not buggy and that is not ICS. I've tested the full jelly bean on another device and it is a lot smoother and definitely better in all aspects than ICS. In my opinion anyway.

This isn't a jellybean upgrade tho. Its just some enhancements and a new modem to ICS.
So, I don't WANT the upgrade, but Device management keeps loading up and won't go away unless I hit the home key. It keeps popping up and won't be satisfied until I download the upgrade, which I do not want to do. Is there any way to turn it off?

How is that rude? I asked why you would go through the trouble to get such a minor stock update. This isn't jb, man. It's a maintenance update. Chill out
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
JB hasnt even officially been released for the Galaxy S3 and the chances of SR getting it before S3 is 0.004855% and there is no "official" word on if its even going to come out for Skyrocket yet alone if ATT will go through with it. They did say Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE but that can also mean just the international version or whatever.
Remember it has to go through Samsung then ATT.
Your best bet for JB right now is the AOSP based ones.

He's not being rude, that was a legitimate question. I would ask the same. And trust me, a small update like this one wouldn't be JB. Sad, but you can get that idea out of your head. Besides, I'd scream if the SR got official JB before the S3

Look at post #17 here
I had the same question, already owned Titanium Backup and did freeze it. No more nagging.
I just flashed the update that cdshepered posted on another thread and I ddnt have to revert back to stock works fine for me plus and increase in cell signal

Yep, I'm fully stock with the update and I definitely noticed an uptick in speed.
Alright, so I have an N8010, so JB hasn't been released/leaked yet, so if and when it does get released, I would like to update and also keep my root capabilities.
I saw someone mention in another thread to use this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.projectvoodoo.otarootkeeper&hl=en
Is that the best way to go about doing this, or is there a better option out there?
Another option is to wait for a nice stock, rooted ROM which usually doesn't take too long from the devs here.

Nah... doubt that...
There is no plain simple root injected only stock ROM for UEALI3, which is the current version for note 10.1 even months after the update.

Well actually there is for the 8013 at least.
I'm guessing they're waiting for JB, judging by what I'm seeing so far.
If you are an owner of Galaxy S3 and have already updated your device to the latest firmware version, you may want to root it to gain full control over the phone. Here is an easy-to-follow step by step tutorial to help you perform a root on your International Samsung Galaxy S3 running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

Customer base and update cycles are two completely different things. And judging by my coworker who has a gs3 and doesn't even know what a premuim suite update is and doesn't care, I think Verizon will be fine sending out updates whenever they want.

I apologize in advance for this noob question...
I rooted my s3 a couple of months ago. Now that 4.1.2 is out, how do I update & re-root it? Do I just download an updated rooted image & boot into recovery mode and flash it, or is there more to it than that? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Just flash the rooted stock, then flash the radio and rpm. Much easier than updating and rerooting.

well, that didn't quite work
so I downloaded the file CF-Auto-Root-m3-m3zh-gti9305 (hopefully that was the right one for 4.1.2 rooted). I booted into recovery mode, started odin. Chose PDF and selected the file, hit Start. After about 15 seconds I get a "Fail" message. Phone won't boot at all. Did I select the wrong image? How do I get my phone back?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thinking that this was the wrong file, I went to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439
and downloaded the For VRBMB1 (Jelly Bean 4.1.2) file. That updated correctly via Odin, and phone now reboots. Looks like it's still at 4.1.1 however....

I'm with you. I just bought one of these with my s4. I was shocked that it didn't come with jellybean already on it, even more shocked to find out there aren't even any jellybean ROMs available for it. I don't care for ICS at all. CyanogenMod has a 4.2.2 rom for the tab 2 10.1 GSM, I'm trying to find out if it will work for the AT&T unit, but probably not.
The thing is, you got to have a starting point. And this is it, more will probably come later. Spread the word on this ROM, push it into other forums on the 10.1, maybe other Devs will see that there is a need for it, and maybe try porting a JB rom to it. :fingers-crossed:
I check daily and can't wait for a JB rom the LTE tab 2 is a great device that seems to be in the shadows

HI.
Are there any custom roms for N8020?
Why do seem to find all goodies for N8000 and N8010, however N8020 not much.
I know being the LTE, obviusly has a different radio, but what seems to be the hold up with compiling CM or Omega or any other of the big roms for the N8020?
I am a software developer by trade, and if there are no port of CM or OMEGA to N8020, I would like to get involved to make it happen. Could someone guide me in the process?
Thanks all
Is the n8020 the he Verizon variant? If so you're in luck. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2333169

No its not.
Standard N8020, from Vodaphone South Africa.
Rooted and CWM, 4.1.2 JB Official Firmware.
I wanna run CyanogenMod 10.1.
Can someone point out why is there no version for it?
What is the issue with the LTE?
What will happen if I flash Cyanogen mod for n8000 ?
Thanks

I have both a N8000 & N8020, I will be offloading my N8000 when I sort out a no S Pen working issue so would love to see a port for the N8020.
In fact, I am surprised that there is not even a listing for this model.

Basic answer NO .
https://forum.xda-developers.com/search/forum/1739?query=n8020
4.4.2 is the last release of stock firmware for N8020 .
Development is mostly dead for this model and many links no longer exist .
