Hi guys last week i factory reseted my phone with SD card in, nothing seemed to happen, but the SD card was "Read only" and i couldn't delete any files so I formatted in my phone, all my files were gone but i got them back because i had backups on my mac. Thing is when i popped it in, it said 'Damaged SD Card" and it could not be mounted. I tried rebooting, taking it out then back in, nothing. I own a Samsung galaxy Note 2, Non-rooted, and a Lexar class 10 SD card with 16 gb. I heard this problem was consistent with Sandisk cards but never heard of any problems with lexar cards.

i did a test on Patriot Class 10 32GB Micro SD on my Sensation. everything went quite smooth, for 10 hrs...after that Sensation can't detect the card anymore. Put the card into card reader, PC can't detect card. so all data in the card was gone and the card is now rendered unusable!
tried on a Transcend Class 10 16GB, Sensation couldn't detect the card at all!
put in a Sandisk Class 4 8GB, Sensation immediately detected the card and i'm still happily using the card for 3 days without incident...
in fact, my Asus Transformer had the same issue with a Patriot class 10 32GB card. wiped the data on the card and rendered it useless...
so any info that i should know abt regarding class 10 MicroSD Card?
thx
I have no solution for you..
I can only say that i am using a Transcend Class 10 16GB card
with no problem. Maybe the problem lies within your phone?
but it happens to my HD2, Asus Transformer and my Sensation...
three devices with the same problem?
i really dunno...
If the card couldn't be read by your pc or 3 other phones, that would lead me to believe that your card is bad. Hopefully you bought it from a reputable seller with a solid return policy and you can just try a new one.
Ive had this problem a few times, its usually the card. I was able to detect mine using Micro SD Adapter but i couldnt open it up. I used Paragon Partition Manager (only thing that detected it) did a full wipe (takes a longgg time 5-7 hours) and then reformatted using windows to just a FAT32, then used Clockwork recovery to partition EXT. It worked fine after that, it was my old 8gb card
I've bought a 16GB Class 10 microSD from Patriot. No problems at all. works fine and is very fast.
Your card must be broken...
I can't copy anything onto this card. It gets like halfway, then seems to become inaccessible from Windows. The drive shows up, but I can't get into it. I formatted it with SD card formatter 3.0, but it's still acting up. Is this DOA, or is it savable?
Bump...
Still nothing? Not having luck here.
Hello. Recently just got a 8gb class 6 micro sd card for my HTC Desire (CDMA). When I put the card it it's not being picked up by the phone. Not giving me any kind of error message in the notification bar, just acts like no SD card is installed. My previous card was an 8gb class 2 card that came with the phone, so I know it can do high capacity. Threw the card in a card reader and re-formatted it FAT32, still nothing. Tried putting the card in a friends Samsung Galaxy and it picked up fine. Also my old card still works when I put it back in the phone, so I'm truly stumped here. The phone is rooted but Im not running any custom roms..
Well i think the problem in in your phone. Maby some dust on those golden pins or something you cound try another card to check if its the card or phone itself.

My old card works fine in my phone, and the new card worked in a friends phone, and on my PC. Tried re-formatting (FAT32 and FAText) and naming the volume. For some reason my phone just won't pick it up. No error messages or anything, just acts like there is no micro sd card in it.
Hello all,
im a proud and happy owner of the first generation of that tab, so my gf bought one for her too and she got the Tab 2
Now there is a slot for a sd card on that tab, they said up to 32gb.
We bought a PNY 32 gb class 10 microsd card.
At first, i transfered movies on it, a warning asking me if i want to convert them appeared and i selected no (never converted a movie on my tab and never got a problem)
While she was away from home, she saw a warning saying sd card damaged, need to be formated.
So when she got back home, i formated the card, then retransfered the movies on it but this time i accepted the "convert" method
well.... 30 mins ago she got the same "damaged sd card" message again.
Am trying to understand why it is happening and how to avoid it. So far it was things that i have backup so its not a big deal but it shouldnt happen anyway.
Any one got same problem or solution ?
Its a brand new tab (bought in may) all stock not rooted or anything, wifi only
thank you in advance for your help.
There is no reason to believe that the tab is doing this. More likely there is something wrong with your sd card. Try using a different one and see if the problem occurs. If it does, then it's the tab, if it doesn't, then it's the card.
Confirmation...
I have the same problem with the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and a Samsung Class 10 32Gb SD card.
If I unmount the card before shutting down the tablet, things go better, but it will still occasionally give me the "SD Card damaged"error, and the machine will corrupt the card, replacing the first letter of a directory with the Greek letter mu and thereby causing the contents of that folder to disappear.
Formatting the card from the device does not solve the problem, nor does formatting out from a computer.
This problem seems to be somewhat rare, not isolated to just the Galaxy Tab 2, but may be related to the capacity of the card (32Gb) or the speed of the card (class 10) or both.

Just as the title says, I am having random unmounts and remounts of my sd card when trying to download things and when trying to view gallery. Phone is not rooted, its a sprint variant, and it's a 64 GB ultra sd card. I have had this card since my note 3 and it has given me no issues up until now. Am I the only one? Is there a fix for this? It's been doing this since day one.
Sounds like it could be a bad sd card. Try getting a adapter and putting it in your computer. If it reads it back everything up and format the card.
I've had a few micro sd cards crap out on me in the past.
I had the same problem. Never had a problem worth the cardin the previous phone. Format the card in the phone, still does it get a new card. And buy a Samsung micro sd. I have had numerous SanDisk cards die and finally went to Samsung and never had a problem since.

Forgot, not matter what, BACKUP YOUR DATA NOW off that sd card. So if it is going out, at least you will not lose any data.
Thanks all
