For $3.99... sure the design is really innovative but the functionality is missing. I type so much faster on swiftkey compared to minuum. Swiftkey is on sale for $1.99 for anyone who is interested.

Yes, I love Swiftkey too, I take it in the firsst days of sale, for me it has a better prediction than minuum.
Minuum has still a few option, It seems me like an advanced T9, but, for example it's quite hard to change a word if the prediction is not the right one. The last reason because I don't like it much is that it works only in english while in swiftkey I can use english and my native language at the same time.

Minuum really slows down a low end phone. The keyboard would freeze and close on its own Since its still in the beta stage, hopefully they will have better accuracy in the future along with a more usable keyboard.

that looks so hard to type with, i have a pretty big screen, so i'd rather give up a little screen space

Looks can be deceiving. If you watch the video tutorial, you will see that how the keyboard operates

Thanks for letting those who like and want Minuum that it's available! My girlfriend much prefers this over Swift Key and Google Keyboard. I'm unsure why lol

size plays a factor but overall functionality is the key

SwiftKey is the best keyboard and the predictions are up to the mark. For me no other keyboard matched SwiftKey.

{info} Slideit keyboard

Ok, so I downloaded the trial version and liked it so much I paid for the full version. It's a little expensive for an app.. 6$ and some change.. but it seems to function so much better than swype and more options as well.
The skin is ugly, hopefully theme options become available. If you haven't heard of it or if you're having one of the many issues swype seems to cause sometimes, check it out.
I'm curious, who here has been using this app for a while? How are updates? Do they come pretty often or really rare? This seems like a really solid alternative to swype so I hope it is maintained.

So do I. Its a little clunky still tho
Sent from the batcave thanks to the xda "premUim" app!
I have SlideIT also and I have to agree with you. It's the most accurate keyboard that I have ever used so far. Nothing even come close to it. I tried everything that you could imagine. It's $6 well spent.

Here it is.
Edit: Apparently if you are running CM7 this will not show up in the market for you on your phone. I wasn't signed in to the market on my comp and that is probably why it showed up for me.
Do yourself a favor and avoid watching their marketing video... horrible.
i have a blue themed version and it is pretty nice to use as an alternative to swype

Haha ok, I'll avoid it.
It looks like a really good keyboard, but without it showing in my market and without a trial.. not much I can do. I'm a try before you buy guy.

Swift keyboard or swype

Just wondering which you guys prefer or thinks better.

I used swype for a while but switched to swift a week or so ago and think I prefer it.

I used to use swype, but now I use Flex T9 Text Input. It was free for a day on Amazon. I love it! It's like swype, but seems to have better word recognition and I don't have to reselect it as a keyboard after a reboot like I used to have to do with swype.
I used to use Swype but now I'm using FlexT9. Absolutely love it.

I'm using swift keyboard. In my opinion nothing beats it. Wish it had a dark theme though.

The new swiftkey beta has a dark keyboard, so its coming.

Ha! another "this vs that" question put to bed. gotta love 'em
I prefer flext9 as well. I had swype and flex seems to be a better job of grouping realistic suggestions. Like swype "good" and it may give you god, and none of the other 8 options are what you want. But in flex it's usually right on. even with things like "well" the next suggestion would be "we'll". Swype usually gave me a hard time on contractions, or words with 2 of the same letter in a row. So far, flext9 hasn't.
+1 on flex t9....its awesome with 4 input methods. Like swype and stock keyboard in one.
I used to be a die hard swype user, Then I tried swift keys new beta its annoying ......but the FlexT9 is the best ive ever used....
swift is actually really good
Flex T9 for me, got it free from Amazon the other day. Feels a lot smoother and doesn't have all the nonsensical words that aggravate me so bad with swype. That **** makes me RAAAAGE when I'm using Swype and it throws in some non-word like "fre," and then adds insult to injury by not letting you delete the damn word from the dictionary. Think I'll stick with Flex for now =)
Flex T9, even if you missed out on the Amazon deal, well worth the money!
Flex t9 is better than both and highly recomended

+1 to Flex T9, awesome. I've used all the keyboards, swype was amazing, smartkeyboard pro was overkill, swiftkey very impressive but hands down the best is Flex. Many options and very customiseable.
I like swift. Works great for me

Swiftkey3

The finished v3 of swiftkey (non-beta) got released recently. The space-bar is much better now, since they redesigned the bottom bar. The word prediction is now even better, and they added some pretty sweet looking themes.
I highly recommend giving it a shot!

Yeah. I really don't use anything else than SwiftKey. I've purchased/tried the following and SwiftKey is perfection.
Google Keyboard
Multiling
Samsung
Swype
SlideIT
Better Keyboard 8

I'm actually digging it alot. I hated skX but 3 is NICE. I just have to get used to the slide punctuation key.
I endorse this product.

fantastic keyboard. Little bit of lag, but most likely on the Custom ROM side of things. 2 was good, but 3 has me no longer missing the accuracy of my iPhone
I approve of the preceding statements. Bottom row layout much better. Best touch keyboard I've used.... Period.

Recommend another keyboard?

The predictive text on the stock keyboard it's getting annoying. Love the swype feature though. I'm torn. Which one are you guys using?
I have used the Flex T9 keyboard since I first got my Droid X and have loved it ever since. It has a swype style typing option which works just as well from my experience. Could be worth looking into.
Jelly bean. Best thing ive dled so far

I'm a swiftkey user. I don't find the predictive text to be intrusive and yet it's useful when you want it.
IMO smart keyboard. If you would like to suppor the developers. Get smart keyboard pro.
Swype

Another vote for SwiftKey 3.
It was the only keyboard that actually let me leave behind the QWERTY slider from my old phone.
Another vote for swiftkey here for sure. Have had the trial for a week and absolutely love it! The predictive text is spot on 99% of the time and its smooth typing.
I'll put down another for SwiftKey 3. Honestly you can DL it right now and have it learn how you type through SMS, Facebook, and email you've already sent and instantly the predictions will be spot on. You can't go wrong with it. Worth the couple bucks.
Jellybean keyboard from the market there's nothing like stock Google

I tried all the swype-style keyboards and then tried SwiftKey. I'll never go back.
PS: I love Hacker's Keyboard for terminal type stuff. The layout is driven more by that style of usage and there's no aut-capping, (wrong) word guessing and the like that just annoys when doing technical things.
Does the free swiftkey have ads in it? I really don't want to pay for an app with ads.
What does the paid app offer that the free one doesn't?
Yet another vote for SwiftKey, we'll worth the money. From my understanding the free version either quits learning or stops the prediction after thirty days

Is this really the case? Because I've always wanted to get the paid version but I could never justify the purchase if the free one has everything has the paid one.

Stock ICS/Jellybean
You can download the Stock ICS APK from google. Stock Jellybean should be in the market
Anything other than the swiftkey3 is a waste of time. I predict Google or another manufacturer will buy them to include in their hardware/software. Amazon had it for free last year and that's how I got it but I would pay $10 for it if I had to. It's less than a cup of coffee on the market.

I think I paid $0.10 for it during a promotion. Amazing keyboard...I was a Swype user before but I have been converted. I love the fact that it learns from previous texts, Facebook, and gmail!

[App] Swype competition

I remember a while back there was a thread asking for suggestions for a keyboard to replace Swype. I came across one that deserves a look. Tswipe is a very nice option with a ton of customizations. It can be found in the Play Store as "free" however the swipe feature is a limited trial. I have no affiliation but just thought it was worth a share because I hadn't heard of it before.

But only because it was invented by a monkey.
It was bound to happen.
They have put an infinite number of monkeys in front of type writers hoping one of them will type the complete works of Shakespeare,
and one of them unexpectedly typed out the program code for Keymonk.

Best Keyboards ever (for me):
1° Touch Pal
2° Keymonk Keyboard
3° Swiftkey
Any of them are pretty good.
