Quiet Poweramp - General Questions and Answers

Why Poweramp is such quiet compare to other music players? Only when the slider is almost full it begins to rapidly louder. Maybe there is a limit so as not to damage hearing? I have SGS2 witch Chameleon rom.

The loudness depends on the headphones and not upon the music player.

OMG I said the other players like Player Pro, Google Music, Samsung stock player and many other play louder than Poweramp. Poweramp at 80% volume play like Player Pro at 40 or 50%. After 80% Poweramp start play rapidly louder.

Best Android EQ program/music player with EQ

So I'm not completely satisfied with Vibrant's default music player and its EQ. I tried Astro Player but the EQ on that is crap. I found out MixZing has THE EQ I'm looking for and it sounds quite amazing but the app itself is not ideal as a music player and the EQ taxes the CPU = lower battery. Is there another player with a similar EQ or is there a program I can use to force a EQ over the ENTIRE phone (not just music player) so that I can then use any music player. I don't care if I have to root the device to get such an app to work.
I'm new to Android coming from Nokia XpressMusic series (which sound amazing with their EQs) so looking to replicate that. It's a HIGH priority for me being an audiophile.

Low freq. distortion with Sense Music Player

Has anyone noticed low frequency distortion when playing MP3s (and perhaps other audio formats) in the Sense Music Player? It's subtle, but definitely there. It's more noticeable in music with lots of bass. I know it's the Sense Music Player's fault because PowerAMP sounds just fine playing the exact same MP3s. Since SRS WOW can only be enabled in the Sense Music Player, that's the one I want to use. PowerAMP's equalizer, despite what people may say, is garbage. Aside from the low frequency distortion, the Sense Music Player sounds way better than PowerAMP when SRS is enabled.
The distortion I'm talking about doesn't seem to interfere much with the actual music quality. It's just an annoying, low-pitched popping noise that you can hear in the background so to speak. I hear the sound regardless of whether SRS is enabled or not. The equalizer can be on or off too. It's even there when listening to music via Bluetooth A2DP. I have several high quality headphones and the distortion effect is present in all of them.
I've tried several different ROMs and kernels (including the stock) and the issue has been present in all of them. Has anyone had the same experience? To be clear, I'm not looking for advice on what to use besides the Sense Music Player to avoid this issue. I've tried them all and they're all garbage. The Sense Music Player with SRS WOW enabled is the closest thing to my HD2 with the SRS WOW HD software audio driver. The HD2 (running WinMo 6.5.3) sounds better than any portable music player I've ever heard. You have to know what equalizer settings to use in the SRS control panel for the type of music you're listening to, of course. I just want to see if others can confirm my findings. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
I find the sense player to be almost worthless, particularly in dock mode. Is suggest go.do.g another player.

You must not have read my entire post. I specifically said that I'm not looking for someone to recommend using another music player. I am concerned about the sound quality. I know of no other music player that can take advantage of SRS WOW capabilities of this phone. Aside from the distortion I described, the sound quality of the Sense player is better than anything else available.
I have noticed weird pops too when I'm using Pandora

Sound quality stock player vs. alternatives

Hello guys,
I would like to ask you, if you consider the sound output of the stock player better than alternative players (PowerAmp, PlayerPro etc.). I came from Galaxy S which has excellent sound output in stock player but alternatives were not so good.
I´m using Koss Spark Plug headphones. I don´t use stock player because of non-customizable equalizer.
What do you think?
I used to use Winamp but I use the stock on the Sensation mainly due to SRS Enhancement. It makes my Moto H17 have actual bass

I'm coming from PowerAmp Pro on HD2, using stock app on Sensation4G and couldn't be more pleasantly surprised. I'm an audiophile listening to flacs in all this and couldnt be happier
stock players seem to be much better than purchased apps now. my vibrant had SRS, G2x has DTS (Dolby), and this has SRS? sweeeeetness didn't know that. wow i shouldn't have bought power amp 2 days ago...
But SRS has not extra options has it? Is it possible to customize it a little bit?
interesting I have not reyes the stock at all been using poweramp out the box. I'm gonna try the stock though.

@KillaHurtz,
How do you play flac in stock player? I recently bought PowerAMP to be able to play flac (and PowerAMP is very oke). As far as I understood flac is not native supported in Android (3.1 seems to have it added).
the stock player should have a equalizer if you open up the stock music player and up in the top right you can select the SRS or equalizer

Just saying that's my normal prefrence, sorry if I miscommunicated that.
I use Player Pro /w DSP pack so that I can have a pre-amp on top of my other EQ settings, that player pro offers normally.
Stock Music player has pretty good sound output, my only complaint is no customization options in the EQ/No Pre-Amp = Not loud enough for me or customizable enough. Player Pro is both!
I used to htc player but it does not retain the position of the song, when I listen to a mix that lasts 2 hours it starts from the beginning every time
do you have the same problem ?
this stock player sounds better than my poweramp. think im gonna use it for now.

EQ is purely subjective - depending on the wild variational quality of speakers, headphones, earphones.. And the quality of the audio. And whether your ears are bunged up with wax.

I CO-SIGN the **** out of these settings.
I've been playing around with my Poweramp presets for a while trying to find the PERFECT setting for the music in my car. Nothing seemed to work right until I stumbled upon this.
It's perfect to me because it brings a crisp sound to any file quality from low to high and that's huge for me because I'm not into PANDORA, SPOTIFY or the countless other music streaming services. I just put music on my phone and SD card and hit shuffle when I'm driving.
This PRESET is so dope I'm gonna be mad when an update for my ROM releases. Had to save the screen shots so I have it forever lol.
Oh my God!!!! This is marvelous..!!! Thanks a lot. :good:
Any idea, how can we normalize volume in Poweramp? Some songs have very low volume while some others have very high. I want all of them playing at the same volume level.
many thanks
i really looked for those seetings thank you so much mate
I just got a new pair of earbuds, and the sound was just way off from what I was accustomed to. Some sounds muffled, others way too pronounced, etc. (I listen to a lot of classical/soundtracks.) I played with the equalizer while on my morning train, and got close, but this preset nails it. Thank you!

"nice one, i tried this on my lenovo s890 doesn't seemed to sound good to a cheap headphone ..
I tested your preset, it sounds better than the regular android, but still missing something. so I used your configs on 250/500/1k/2k bands with the other settings of my earlier preset, and it solved my problems with the jbl t100a. many thanks!

perfect settings! i haven't extensively used them yet, but Asking Alexandria, Cage The Elephant, and Pretty Lights all sounded fantastic!!
Using a Nexus 6P with Skullcandy Smokin Buds 2 (wireless).
Wow nice work, I download many equalizer apps, different players etc. But wow, I have the Sony MDR-100ABN and damn music sounds fab.
I had to sign in just to say thank you bro!
Its great
Man, I just signed in to say thank you, I think I have been listening to music on my phone with wrong equalizer settings for whole of my life. I know it is subjective but when it comes to an standard that fits most of the users, I would say never heard a better sound quality than this. I have an Atomic Floyd hi-def Drum ear buds using on my HTC 10.

I have an extra app installed called Volume Boost because I thought the volume overall on my phone was too low. This one gives it quite a boost for those days where you need to blast loud, angry music into your ears.

Thank you! I have my bass back without the scratching!
A damn Android update messed up my phone and I lost all my saved playlists in PowerAmp (!!!!!!), and also my equalizer preset which I made YEARS ago. I could not for the life of me remember what the hell I did to get the music to sound right, plus I got new headphones (Beyerdynamic MMX 102 iE). I just couldn't find the right sound again.
This still doesn't sound like what I had before, but it sounds amazing. The songs have depth now without being to bass'y or tinny. Thanks so much!

Why does soundcloud app sound better than stock music player/poweramp

I noticed that soundcloud app sounds wayyy better than any android music player on the market. Not that it's just louder, but the bass is more clear, the audio is more separated, and it's just overall more dynamic. While most songs on google play (app i mainly use) and poweramp sound low, muddled, and void of any real base. Yes, I use high quality 320 kbps mp3. I also use Ath-M50's. I also tried soundcloud on my friend's phone and it too sounds wayy better. Is anyone else having this problem or is it rare? I have an alcatel 7040n btw.
Don't use SoundCloud much due to it being blocked at my school, but it may just be as simple as better coding for audio reproduction
