[Q] RK31T (RK3188) wifi issues - Android Stick & Console Computers General

Hello all,
I have bought a Android stick from DX and I am having issues with the wifi.
If you search DX it is: RK31T Android 4.2.2 Quad-Core Bluetooth TV Box Mini PC
Is there a way to fix this?
Is there a custom rom?
The reason I ask is because I tried a lot of stuff with my router.
N only
G only
2.4 Ghz
5 Ghz
Nothing seems to help and all other devices work as it they should.
I don't know where to search for.
Hope anybody can help
Thanks in advance!

Ask in dx forums they can be surprisingly useful. Otherwise figure out which radio chips you have and look for another stick with the same. Most stuff dx sells is a copy of something else.

You are right!
Thanks!
If you want to flash this stick to a custom ROM (actually you should, the stock version is crap, netflix does not work with 4.2.2 out of the box at this time), you want to know it's Tronsmart T428 versions you should seek.
I flashed with Finless 1.5A ROM:
And it works. Works better than out of the box. No bloatware or other crap, just Android 4.2.2 with some added features.

No sweat. You know where the button is ;D
I am running Finless 1.4 (with hoabycsr's kernel) on my MK908 because I need pinless pairing for some of my bluetooth stuff. They broke that in Android 4.2.2 but in Android 4.1.1 the "bluetooth pairing" app still works. Finless 1.5 is good though.

Cyanogenmod 7 for Harmony Released!

Though not specifically listed for us, CM7 for harmony was released along with the other builds today. It looks and runs great so far, and the Tablet tweaks work really well, I like having the buttons in the bottom left personally. I haven't had alot of time with it, but I have yet to spot anything out of place and it runs great so far.
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=harmony
There are a few bugs in the keyboard as numbers do not show up properly. Everyone should thank Bekit as he's really pushed CM7 for the G-Tab and spent a ton of time hacking away at code.
::edit::
Nevermind, their Wiki site is just screwed up showing out of date links. http://mirror.cyanogenmod.com/get/update-cm-7.0.0-Harmony-signed.zip

Do you know if it supports location-by-WiFi?
I'm getting ready to give it a try.
Thanks.
I was running this since beta and rc and its more bug free than ever. The stock keyboard does suck on a tablet. The best one is SwiftKey for tablets. Go to their website and sign up for vip and you can dl the beta.
Now that we are running cm, can we start using rom manager and whatever version of cwm it installs or is that still a problem for g tabs?
MC
Been running this for about a week now (clearly not the stable as it was JUST released) and have been really happy with it.
Side note I do hate the keyboard as it is just a little small (for me but i have big hands).
I do hope this version fixes the DSP Manager FC issue. I was going to install the nightly yesterday which had the fix but never did get around to it.
I'm assuming this is entirely different from this

Well, it's exactly the same thing... the mod murdock was working on has been merged into the mainstream CM... to quote murdock
Code:
Mod has been merged to CM7
The first part of tablet tweaks has been merged.
It will be in each official cm7 nightly build now starting with nightly 37 onwards... even phone users will have parts of the tweaks in their options

Right now, it most probably is. Let Harmony devices get rooted before the Harmony Release gets traction and "neutralization"
Very sweet...
Overall feels very responsive and smooth (though that could be from the data/system/cache wipe before installing).
WiFi location works very well.
Tablet Tweaks is a nice addition as well as the standard CyanogenMod Settings.
Notification swipe for the Power Widget is nice.
Haven't looked at the themes or profiles yet.
how long do ya think it will take to have the nvidia files merged into gingerbread roms? cuz the poor playback is a definate deal breaker for me but i would love to run cm7
Recovery?
Has anyone else had any issues in getting into CWM after installing this?!? I cannot at all get to recovery. It just boots straight into CM7.

Netflix works on the Tab!!!

This post here.
Overcome 2.0 Beta 1. Not tested on anything else yet.
Enjoy
um, no...it does not. then, after edititing the build prop file, trying to fool netflix to think im htc vision (g2) still i get the same device error. this trick must have been patched already.
edit, apologies for the lack of details
cm7 2.3.4 gets detected by netflix and stops me at the device not supported pop up.

It's working on my gTab... I am currently watching Battlestar Galactica.
I am running Overcome ROM Version 2.2.2 Beta 2. Some scenes were a bit grainy at first, but it seems to get progressively better with usage.

I didn't state nor did the link I linked to state that any prop editing needs to be done. Fresh Overcome GB ROM and the APK in the link and Netflix plays. I just finished watching Predators. Don't state it doesn't work when its just your device thats not working.
sorry i forgot to mention that im running techno's cm7 2.3.4 (perhaps thats the prob?) ill be trying overcome asap.
apologies for saying it didnt work for me...try and relax a bit fella, my tab is working just fine otherwise.

I believe wifi tabs have different hardware then 3g ones. Build prop could be one fix but I think there might be a hardware check or something that is preventing video for some.

SO i take it, Netflix only works on GSM overcome Roms...Sprint tab rooted with original Rom does not work. The screen just disappears when you log in. SMH at Google. To many software/hardware versions for any company to make a app right.
i ment in like australia..
Works fine with the new Gingerbread ROM on Tmo US.
another +1 on overcome 2.0 (2.3.3) i havnt had much time to test but it loads and plays. ill see in the next couple days how it works without wifi. at home it seems to be all well.
comming from technomancer's cm7 port overcome is MUCH MUCH smoother, cleaner, faster and has none of the issues i used to have with cm...but thats what you get with ports that arent updated regularly. the older overcome worked well, but i chose cm7 because of the settings and such, and back a couple months ago there wasnt THAT big of a diff (and cm is whats on my g2...so i thought id prefer it) now after using the latest 2.0 i cant believe how well this tab functions now.
so, netflix made me switch roms, and it works!!...but i got a bonus surprise with how well overcome really is.
very good day for my tablet!
Works perfectly on my us tmobile tab with overcome beta 1 and 2.3.3! Picture quality is very crisp. Streams with no lag
Works so well that I was on the phone with netflix yesterday and was telling the guy on the phone about it, info on 2.3.3.
and the the netflix app in his email got me 6 free months of service via coupons.
Awsome!

Also I think its funny that one of my other devices is actually supported and it doesnt work on it! Rather watch it on the tab anyways.

OnLive has recently updated to version 1.3 yesterday and comes with included PS3 controller support for Sony Tablet S (and Xperia Play?) devices.
Hopefully that means native support/stacks are included in the app and only need to be unlocked. Anyway, just wondering if anyone has any update on releasing a current modified version.

Wish i knew how to do this myself,1.3 has such a better connection on gingerbread almost no lag at all on ics its still a little buggy at times, ive been using 1.2 on ics its very glitchy at times

I have this rom installed again since it seems impossible to find a rom that has all features of the phone working and no random reboots or fc's . I am happy with the rom for the most part and thrilled that it has offline charging. I dont like the battery usage though there seems to be something draining the battery pretty quickly. Anyone have suggestions on improving battery like a different kernel or settings to adjust? I use wifi and 3g a lot but other rom's seem to have much better battery even with those on.

Yes, go to the App Store and download the lite version for free. One guy on reddit said he got it working with the Moto X. I am now reflashing stock Android as I think my custom kernel could be the problem. Will let you know how it works out.
