[Q] Tablet Battery Replacement - General Questions and Answers

Hi, I am noob here...
I have replaced my 3000 mah battery tablet which is no longer operate with a 4100mah 3.7V which has bigger capacity. The problem is the original one has 3 leads (red, black and white) while the new one is only 2 wires (red and black).
I have connected the battery and it operates as well until it is fully drained. The problem comes when it is charged, because the battery indicator keeps at 1% and led charging indicator in the tablet keeps yellow (fully charged). This means the battery has not been charged at all.
I suspect the problem is due to the third cable (the white - thermistor??) that is not available in the new battery. Is there any way to make this battery fully functioned in my tablet?
I have done it myself because the service center of this tablet is terrible, very crowded of complaining user, ultra slow delivery and there is no assurance for the availability of the battery.
I am using Advan T2CI (rockchip RK29 based) which is similar to PTM712 HC.
Thank you all for your answer.

My Universal just died

*sob*
My Universal just died, without a warning, 1 years 6 months 5 days (bought 26 December 05 to today 1 July 07).
It just cannot power up anymore.
All my data is inside, last backup is few weeks ago, how to get my data?
Anyone had this experience with it just died without doing anything?
@Midget
How did your died?
battery? ;(
How it's possible?
Mine suddenly died after 2 years, no way to power it on even with the charger. But i just replaced the battery and it came back to life!
Nothing helps.
I have 3 batteries,
1. 1 half dead battery (half dead after 6 months of use)
2. 1 used for long time battery (the current regular used with care for about more than 1 year and Universal died with)
3. 1 new battery which bought and tested working not too long before this incident and a hardly used spare battery.
Before my 1st post above, tried everything.

When putting in the charger, do you see a permanent RED Led instead of regular Orange charging status Led?
the screeen co-axial cable has gone in both of mine (im a heavy user when it comes to that )

That happened to me. I just got a new battery, and even it sais it is 100% charged in WM, when I plug it in to the charger (PDA on standby) I get a permanent red light where the charging status is for a while, and then the device boots up and the orange light is back. I suppose I should let it charge till the orange light changes to green and then use it?
As I say I have 3 batteries.
The regular battery (the 1 year old one) which I am using is like the situation you describe at battery Low situation, trying to charge but fail.
But is there an explaination why my new battery does not work too. Measured across voltage is 4.2V
I have also measured from the USB to battery point, the 4.2V voltages are there.
The RED Led is always RED when charger is inserted. Without charger, no Led.
Is the RED colour LED software or hardware controlled?
How is the battary voltage connector connect from battery to the board.
Between, if it is free, which will you choose,
1. Dopod U1000
2. Dopod 838 Pro
3. Dopod D810
4. O2 Atom Life
5. O2 Flame
Actually I would like to have Karser or Omni, but not here yet.
Still no phone yet, using my old Nokia 6170 which I grab from my angry son. Hee Hee
you should go to a specialized service.
probably there is something to do and to rescue your device.
it shouldn't die just like that. that's why i think that a replaceble component died. but a replaceble one.
also, i read something about batteries on the internet.
for PDAs it is adviceble to charhe them whenever possible.
so if you have 90% of battery left, you should charge it.
this is the oposite for regular phones where is adviceble to
drain the battery and only then to charge it (for maximum life).
but you should never let your device over night with the charger plugged in,
or for a longer time that it is necesary to reach 100%.
XDA Repairs
Hi CWKJ,
You could try xda repairs, they may even send you the parts for DIY.

Ok, here is the full story.
My Universal is still cover with special paid warranty which I have a choice for repair or change a new device. In case of my choice is to repair, I will not have any choice of new device for future failure of Universal.
I am lazy to do it myself and Universal is going to be end of product life and service part here.
The repair agent said that both my LCD and Mother Board needed to change, any combination of new and old does not workl
The choices of newI have is Dopod U1000 (need some $ topup), Dopod 838Pro, Dopod D810 (I like this very much), O2 Atom Life and O2 Flame (the obvious choice). But my interest is in Omni or Kaiser.
Before sending for Agent to check what is the problem. I make some analysis myself.
The problem is it never power up with neither of my 3 batteries. Measured Voltages coming from USB to battery contacts, 4.2V is there. So that means this voltage going into the Mother Board has problem. So I tried to charge one of my power low battery as suggested throughout the night. Interestingly the Universal Alarm went off in the middle of the night and my whole family was up. At this time, the LED was green and the Universal was up and it is warm from the charging. So I thought it is alive. But the next morning when I woke up, charging is completed and Universal is no longer warm, it is RED LED again and it never wakes up. The voltage across the batteries are all 4.2V.
Why don't try borrowing a teseted functional battery from a friend to do a test? I get the red LED light problem when the battery isn't inserted properly or if the battery is faulty.
What I do is to remove the battery, and reinstall it and everything works again. I don't think it is the motherboard problem, otherwise the red LED illuminate.
I think what CWKJ is experiencing with his Universal is quite similar to my Xda II a couple of one and a half years back. Service center claimed that I should replace the mainboard, but I think they were just looking for the easiest way out - when it could just be one or two component that does not pass the electricity through.
So, somehow I still hope someone could revive my Xda II which is now sitting inside the drawer as paper weight - I now am using Universal.

Weird issue with spare battery

I invested in a spare battery for my N1.. the model number of the battery is identical to that that came with the phone.
The issue I have is that even though the battery works, the N1 displays a question mark in the notification bar, rather than a battery status reading.
I've tried running the battery dead, then recharging fully but it stays as a question mark. Is there anything else I need to do to get the reading to work, or is this a faulty or dodgy battery?
I have an extra battery from google and 2 exras from ebay with wall chargers.. all work fine.. no issues.. return the battery

Anymode Charger for Samsung Galaxy S i9000 - Totally Uselessl !!!

I bought this item from exportprive and not satisfied with it at all. It has 3 lights which show battery charge level (RED > GREEN > Orange %100). When I try to charge my battery with it, it stucks in green light every time.I never saw orange light on it. It means that it never succeeded to charge my battery fully and wont be able to do it ever.
I try to charge from PC or stock charger, after 10-12hrs result is still same,it never turns to Orange.I requested for refund or replacement.
Any suggestion about solution or alternative battery charger which is capable to charge %100 ???
Thanks.
I would say it isnt possible because your i9000 battery does have a chip which prevents overloading the battery and stops by ~98~99%
maybe your charger is tricked by that procedure ?

ok you are obviously new here and to modding your phone (NooB)
the galaxy s and in fact all phones the battery has a chip thats stops charging and 96% its a safety thing thats built in to keep the battery form overcharging and possible explosion + it preserves you battery
it appears that you have 100 percent but in reality it 96%
if you want to get a full 100% and waste you battery i recommend
MIUI/CM7 with glitch kernel get nstools form the market and set the charging limit
hit the thanks button
Actually charger has to stop and show orange light when its %96.But it keeps showing green all time. So its hard to realize that when I need to pull off charger from plug.
Thanks for answers.
I think I need a better charger for this issue which can be stopped charging when its full charged.

[Q] cube u39GT pattery problem?

hello to everyone i've ordered this tablet and it arrived few days ago ;
since then i've noticed weird things regarding battery level , it keeps discharging in a wery wierd way!
when i charge it (using a 5V 2.5 A wall charger ) battery reaches a certain percentage (ex 40%-60%) , then suddently it drops very low (4%-6%) and this behavior keeps going on and on :l
i've attached a photo showing the battery graph:
i suspect a faulty battery pack , i've tried different chargers so far...
what do you think? what what can i do in you opinion?
the tablet is not much usable in this state...

[solved] Mi4 discharged over night, now not even red LED

Hi all,
yesterday evening my Mi4 had about 24% when I plugged it in. I seemed to have connectivity issues with the cable, because the phone was constantly switching between charging/discharging (which kept the screen on). I moved it around a bit and the switching disappeared and it charged. However I guess it started switching again over night which completely drained the battery.
Now I have it attached to (a different) charger but no life sign at all, now even the red led (neither constantly nor blinking) and the charger doesn't warm up (usually devices with empty batteries would make it warm up good) - so maybe also a usb connectivity issue?
Any ideas how to reanimate it? Or how to check if it would work with a new battery w/o actually having to buy one first (maybe measuring some currents or so)?
So it seems the battery control (?) needed a restart: Pressing POWER and VOL UP and VOL DOWN at the same time for about a minute (maybe more) made the LED flash again and after that the battery charged again (seems to completely disconnect the battery for a moment, since the clock was set back afterwards).
