[Q] Verizon Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (sch-i705) Headphone Jack - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am unable to get my SCH-i705 to route audio through the headphone jack when plugged-in to my 2010 Jeep Wrangler AUX audio port. The tablet continues to play all sounds through its built-in speakers, as if nothing is plugged-in to the headphone jack. I've tried several different cables with no permanent success. One cable will sometimes be recognized for one song, but as soon as that song ends the tablet stops playing music, and if I press the play button the sound comes out the built-in speakers again.
Before the SCH-i705 I used a GT-P3113 and it worked fine. Ditto for my SGS3.
I did some browsing and saw there were some others with the same problem, Saab and BMW owners. I could not find where anyone solved the problem.
Any ideas?

Headphone jack buzz

hey guys,
my One S has buzzing noise coming from the headphone jack, and this problem is pretty annoying especially when it's connected to my car stereo. I thought it might be just mine, but it seems like this is a common issue.
i found this video on youtube. I have the exact same buzz from my One S, though perhaps not as accentuated as in this video.
seems like the One X has this problem as well. found this thread at the One X board http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720212
is this a grounding problem in the headphone jack? Beats Audio? what do you guys think?
I've always had this problem with more than one phone. If you charge the phone via USB adapter from the car battery, it gets 10x worse.
This problem only happens when sound is being played back, so when music/video/game sound kick in, it stops. Do you get that noise when sound is being played back?

The buzz is only audible when nothing is playing. Like in that video, when I stop playing music it will be silent for about 2 seconds and then the buzz kicks in again.
I didn't have this issue with other phones
I don't have any buzz, I double checked just to make sure.
Although it might be my headphones, the output is probably not strong enough to play the sound.
It's probably being heard in your car (or in the youtube video) because the output is being amplified.
I'm having the same issue with YouTube and Pandora.

you're right. the issue isn't as noticeable through earbuds. i think that's why many people are saying they don't have this issue. It's still bad though.
I don't know why HTC messed up this part when no other phones seem to have this issue. Makes me sad.
If it's easy to reproduce for you guys, I'd definitely be pushing for warranty replacement.
I do not have this problem at all. On my cheap pair of headphones or on my expensive one. No hum or sound.
the buzz is there, and it also was on my Desire.
Not when playing tho, only when connected and not playing. Not too annoying, always thought it was supposed to be like that.
And no, I have never heard it through ear buds or phones, only when connected to home stereo or car stereo, and if charged through cig-lighter-outlet it amplifies further...

It doesnt effect headphones, only when the sound is amplified. Like when you play music in your car.
Simply because that sound alone is not enough to drive the headphones.

Whether its plugged in to a car or home stereo, its still using the output from the headphone jack. The power output from the jack is the same either way.
I plug mine in to the aux jack of my car stereo daily, and I have no buzz or hum. Do you have your phone plugged in to a power source at the same time? That buzz is usually caused by crosstalk from a poor quality power source.
Or, as I said earlier, it may just be a bad phone.

Well my phone doesnt do it in my headphones. I can't test in car, no aux input.
What I was saying is that, of its buzzing in your car but not on your headphones its because the sound level at which the buzz is at isn't enough to drive your ear buds. But when the car stereo amplifies it its easily driving your car speakers.

Audio Output, Phone Unresponsive

So I plugged my brand new s3 into my garage speakers and I could no longer get past the lock screen.
I can adjust my volume but it wont let me do anything else.
I've tried Pandora and Spotify and they both do the same thing.
unplugging and replugging let my move around a little but then it froze up again.
anyone else experienced this?
I am using a lepai amp through the mini jack plug.
I thought this was odd.
it worked fine when I used the phone in the car but it wont work right in my garage.
any suggestions?
Assuming in your car your using a 1/8" cable, and if it works there, I think you already have solved your problem, and it's with your garage setup. Depending on what your using, some powered speakers have "hot" connectors that pre-amplify the signal before hitting the built in amp. Give some more info on what your using.

Lepai LP-2020A - to Dayton BR-652 speakers - With 1/8 mini plug to the rca inputs.
I don't believe the amp is sending out a hot signal, I don't know why it would.
I never had an issue with my captivate.
I understand that this is a isolated problem but what is the reason behind this? I should be able to plug this phone into anywhere that accepts the 1/8 plug.
My wifi signal seems to be weaker on my s3 then it was on my captivate in the same location. (sound is cutting out while streaming).
What is rca terminal are you hooked up to on the amp? Aux, video, phono, etc?

This is a stereo amp it only has a right and a left channel. it has a 1/8 jack and right/left rca inputs.
Im going to see if the mini plug input will work. but I just don't get why this would cause a problem when there was none before.
I can still return my phone I have a few more days. maybe I got a hold of a bad one or something?

No Sound Out Using Aux Cable ?!?!?!

Brand new SGT2 7.0, 8gb, GT-P3113
Hooked it up to car using an aux out cable that works fine on my phone in my car and got sound for about 20 seconds then nothing. Can't get sound again. Unplugged, plugged back in, toggled car audio inputs, changed ends of cable around... can't get sound out.
Went back inside and tried earbuds and they work fine. What is wrong? Is there a special cable needed? If the earbuds work on both phone and tab why not the aux cable?
This is the one I have:
Kensington Noise Reducing Car Audio AUX Cable for MP3 or SmartPhone
Using it in my car is the whole reason I bought this thing, can anyone help me out? Car is a 2010 Prius with stock navi/stereo.

Since the tablet works with headphones but not on the car, it's probably the cable or the car that is faulty

No, not the car because as I mentioned, it works fine with same cable, same car and my phone.
However... somehow it's working now. I thought what the hell, I'll go out and try again, and it is working. I did notice that the volume out is super low and I have to turn my car audio up pretty loud. And also the jump down in volume on the Tab when you plug in the cable is significant, and I checked the settings and media volume was at the loudest. So I have to crank the volume again after plugging it in and crank the car volume as well. I had it working for 2 minutes straight and tried on video app, music app, google music app and TuneIn radio app and they all worked today.
So ShapesBlue, don't give up... try cranking up the volume and see if that's it or if second time works like for me. I did hear it for a bit last time so I don't think it was only the volume, but I def had to turn it up really loud, much more so than when I connect my phone.
YAY!

[Q] Audio problems with the nexus 5

Hey! I have an audio problem with my device. When i just play some music with google play using my headphones (that came with galaxy 3 that i have) it sounds like i am hearing in low quality and i can't hear some parts that are playing. For example, sometimes i can't hear the singer singing or the guitar plays. Kinda like my device is playing stereo and my headphones gets only one side.
It's worth mentioning that i tried other headphones, which didn't help much. I have tried other audio apps also and got the same results.
I have searched for an answer to the situation for quite some time now and didn't find any.
Thank you
I
Either there's a problem with the headphones (but you imply it is the same across different ones), or they are not plugging in properly. Is the jack in fully? Is there something lurking in the socket that might stop the jack from connecting?

the problem is that this issue happens with other headphones too.
maybe you should try to loose the headphone jack a little bit, hope this works
Well i tried playing a little with the jack but no luck...
what do you mean by "loose the headphone jack a little bit" ?
I don't want to cause any physical damage ...
Either the jack was incorrectly installed or the jack is defective. I would RMA the unit if I were you.

Today I had an issue where my volume was all the way up and the phone plugged into the receiver wouldn't work. The s3 I have here would play just fine though.

App Inquiry

Hello all!
Recently we discovered that we had an AUX cable hooked up to our speakers at work. It's been great being able to plug in our phones to stream music, but we are looking for an alternative solution.
We have an extra GS3 that we would like to essentially turn into a Bluetooth speaker so it can stay plugged into the power and the AUX constantly. I've found a plethora of apps that can do this via WiFi/Hotspots, but this is not an option for us.
Is there any way to stream audio via BT from any Android device?
Thanks!
